Actually Big Ben is the name of the bell inside the tower. One thing that not many people know is that top of the tower containing the bell is referred to as the bell-end. So you should really say that you went to see the bell-end at the Houses of Parliament. British people will smile if you say this.

History wise though its a gem the stories and real life historic buildings make it a great place to visit
