My mom put hers in an old cracked concrete birdbath and it's stunning. These have been my only survivors because I've loved every succulent too death. Letting a special guest get thirsty has been frowned upon my whole life. I had to learn the hard and expensive way. Thank you!
You are most welcome, I wish I could see your mom's cascading birdbath Sun rose, it must be beautiful!!!! 😀🪴
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN If I could get an email, I’d be more happy to send you a picture of the sun rose birdbath. I tried to copy and paste here but didn’t work.
Ohhh that would be wonderful. I can't wait to see how cool the birdbath sun rose waterfall! Here is our email- Letsgroweco@gmail.com 😀🪴
My favorite part was when you got excited and said “look at it!” When you saw the flowering 😂 I’m glad I’m not the only one that gets excited about their plants like that haha
oh no!!!! another plant i MUST buy!!!!! So pretty!!!!
Hi Marta! You will love her, she makes a wonderful trailing vine!😀🪴
I love how excited you are about this plant because that’s just how I feel! I got this plant for free and it was dying, I didn’t know what the plant was at first. I tell you when she started flowering I screamed! I had no clue!
I am soooo happy your baby sun rose has started flowering for you! Congrats!😀🪴
I just got a clipping today, super excited to get it in a pot
Awesome!😀🪴
I love your video. It was very informative plus I love your excitement about plants!
Thanks so much! 😀 🪴
Thank you for such great care tips! Your Baby Sun Rose is stunning. ❤
Thank you so much!😀🪴
Beautiful! Thank you so much for your helpful advice and tips! I just got a few of cutting from my neighbors and I am having in water, but now, I know that is as easy as planting them directly into soil.
Glad you found it helpful, and we hope your baby sun rose thrives!😀🪴
Thank you for this video! I adore your shirt!
Thnaks! 😀🪴
Such a beautiful plant! Thank you for sharing 😊!
You are most welcome!😀🪴
My brother has one, they are very beautiful ❤
That’s awesome! 😀🪴
I’m in Fort Lauderdale, hey neighbor 😉, and I’ve grown the variegate baby sun rose in my yard. Full sun and it did beautifully and spread, bloomed a lot! Then it started to kind of get brown and sort of “dry” up and the stems shriveled a bit. They each began to die, I had about six of them.
I don’t know what I did wrong, I had them next to a bromeliad and some crotons and desert rose plants. All of them are still thriving. Maybe they had too much direct sun? It’s all day and I know Florida sun is a bit stronger. I just don’t know. But I will try in a pot. I have three really small containers of them from the nursery, I’m hoping I can do right by them in a hanging pot.
Thank you for posting this, I’m also going to try your suggestions with the soil mix.
Ft Myers is cold tonight…. Better go bring her in with my orchids.
Yes!!!! I hope they are ok!😀🪴
When is it ever cold in Miami!? Lol I live west coast in FL and it's always hot imo
I live in upstate N Y. I absolutely love this baby rose. Omg! Everyone comments on it.
My question is can about indoor lighting near cool weather when I have to bring it in
What type of grow light and what are the parameters? Please, please help me out. Thank you so much
Hi there! I would recommend a full spectrum led lights. Those look best (white natural light) in my opinion than other specialty grow lights (green purple red hues) and full spectrum show off you plants nicely. Amazon have quite a few types available from a fixed light socket option -GE alos makes a full spectrum led flood light OR clip on bendable led light wands that will showcase and give your baby sun rose the light she needs in winter. Place grow lights near but not on top of sun rose. She needs lots of light. And water only as needed, check soil first, if first two inches are super dry, ad water. Hope this helps! 😀 🪴
Everything I kept reading said the lifespan is only 2-3 years so I love hearing more and that this one is 5 years.
Hi, yes, 5 years or more! And they propagate very easily! 😀🪴
Mine is two years old! And I’m constantly propagating it.
I love them! Found then last summer in SC after moving here. Can I use as ground cover as well?
Hi there and Yes you can! Great groundcover, just be careful of harsh cold fronts, she doesn't like those. 😀🪴
Can you take them inside in the north
Summer time this plant does excellent in Southern Illinois but if I plant for ground coverage will this come back following summer? Can this be brought indoor (planter) and use plant light during winter?
Hi there! I do not think the sun rose will surviv4 your winters, but if you grow her in a pot and take indoors for winter ( near a south facing window or plant light), I think she will make it. Hope this helps. 😀🪴
Hello , I live in Quebec Canada. Since we have winter, can we bring this plant in the house? Thank you
Yes!, Just place her where she can get bright light and no drafts, water approx every 9 days( but dont let soil get soggy between waterings) and she should be good through the winter indoors.😀🪴
I have this plant on a tray style pot with ingrown lights in my college dorm. Best plant I ever own. My question is, would it be possible to plant the baby sun rose with its other related cousins like the delosperma? I would have them planted in a bigger tray style pot evenly spread out. I just want to make sure if the baby sun rose gets along with other plants.
Hi, I have not grown delosperma before, but what a great combo that would be! I say give it a try! 😀🪴
Can it be grown in the house
Hey there! I'm just wondering, I live in Texas and it's about 103° on average recently :\ do you think my baby sr would bloom and survive better indoors during the summer? I love this video, you nailed the information! Thanks
Either, she is quite adaptable! I have grown baby sun rose indoors, she is a tough plant. To get her to flower though, it's best to keep outdoors, with that high heat count you may need to look for signs of leaf wilting, if so, that means she needs more water ( i like watering plants outside in the morning before it gets too hot) but if you see wilt, water right away. Thank you for commenting !😀🪴
Gonna get it on a regular watering schedule as suggested, maybe get it some succulent soil for 'er ♡ thank YOU for responding lol! Very appreciated dude
Mine thrive in the hot west Texas desert. I actually have my pot in a big saucer and I fill the saucer with water every two days. So my baby sun rose drinks from the bottom.
What is the soil mix
Hi, it's 70% cactus mix, 20% worm castings and 10% perlite with a dash or bigfoor bioactives (myccorizhal soil enhancer).😀🪴
When you prune the long tenicles will it grow up more?
Hi! She can ,but it's best to give her a support stick to climb up onto to get a more full look. She normally wants to flop over and trail. 😀🪴
How big of a pot should you put the baby sun rose in
Try using a pot 2x larger than the size of the sun rose pot you purchased her in. 😀🪴
I have had my baby sun rose a few years, but she has not bloomed since the first year and is growing slowly. I live in Nevada. Do you have any suggestions?
Hi there! Is your baby sun planted in the sun? Sunny areas are best for encouraging blooms.😀🪴
It is in an area that gets afternoon sun. Plants tend to get scorched here in the desert during the summer, so I was concerned with putting it in full sun.
Ok, so sun exposure is god, so maybe its time to enrich or change out soil to give your baby sun rose some more energy to produce blooms. 😀🪴
Can I grow baby sun rose outside in summer then bring her inside in the winter? I'm in zone 6a.
Yes you can! The Baby Sun Rose can actually be grown as a house plant. We tried it out with a cutting from our baby sun rose and she adapted to living inside (no flowering though). Remember to give her good light if grown inside for the winter 😀 🪴
Hi... I was gifted a baby sun rose from a friend in North Dakota! This is her 2nd winter in Iowa; she's struggling with colder temperatures & much less sunshine. Any tips? 9:13 9:13 9:13
Hi there! Hmmmm cold weather is a real issue for baby sun rose. Do you have her in a pot? A pot is great because you can. bring her inside during winter. And during spring/ summer try keeping her right next to a west facing or south facing wall, so when sun hits her, the warmth of nearby wall from sunlight will give her some extra warrmth . Also make sure you protect her from winds. Hope this helps😀🪴
What about the roots? How big of a pot does your big one use?
Hi, the roots don't dig down far. I put mine in a large pot more for visual effect (24" diameter x ~18" deep) But putting her in a shallower pot, she will do fine (8") 😀🪴
Hiiii, I’ve recently noticed that there are many black bumps on my baby sunrose. These are like small peels or shells, I’ve tried to remove them all but they appear again… does anyone know if this is normal?
Hi, I am sorry to hear that. It sounds like you have scale. There are some insecticidal soaps you can get to help control them. 😀🪴
Hey sir. Can u deliver weeping conifers (any of them). big shout out from Nepal
Hello! Wow Nepal ! Unfortunately we are not currently shipping any trees or shrubs. But may in the future. 😀🪴
Is this also called mezoo?
Hi, I have not heard of that name for her. We usually hear her called Sun rose, or baby sun rose or apetenia.😀🪴
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN thank you
Can I grow these indoors? I have 2 baby ones which already bloomed. They currently in a tiny pot
I have grown her indoors too! Yes! She wants a lot of light though. North of 1000 fc.😀🪴
I want to bring 2 of the babies to work. I have no window but I do have an extreme bright overhead light. Should I risk bringing her to work?
Hi, yes you can try, but make sure to keep light on them as long as you can so the babies can adapt to the new indoor space.😀🪴
Thank you for responding so quickly ❤️ I've been told to not water until the soil is dry?
When I have mine indoors over the winter they do well but don’t bloom.
Is this Mezoo Trailing Red, Dorotheanthus??
Hi there. yes, Mezoo Dorotheanthuis is a less commonly used name to describe this plant. The most common genus /species that the wholesale grower industry use in south florida is : Aptenia cordifolia. Hope this helps. 😀🪴
First time having a baby sun rose! My leaves on it are shriveling brown! Im not sure what to do or what I’m doing wrong? I do have in hanging baskets outside
I’m located in TN!
Hi, I am sorry your sun rose is suffering. Is the soil damp or dry? How often are you watering?

Thank you for posting this, I’m also going to try your suggestions with the soil mix.
You’re most welcome. On caring for baby sun rose in your garden watch for water saturation in soil. Summer rains can dampen soil that they might suffer like you mention. So our well drained soil mix plus installing your plants tad bit higher ( 3-4” tiny raise berm) than surrounding grade will also help. 😀🪴
I live in zone9 B inj Tampa and my sun rose has been doing very good for years
Is this Mezoo Trailing Red, Dorotheanthus?
Hi. If only part of the leaf is burnt I would keep as is, but if most of leaf is burnt, you can prune off and she will give you new growth in time. Hope this helps.😀🪴
