It’s so cool you’re doing what you want at your age. Definitely not average! Keep it up! Someone recommended padded shorts. I agree with this. I’m 38 n have a bad hip my Rekd impact shorts have saved me lots of times since I took skating back up 👊
I do use padded shorts, sort of. I used to use Bodyprox ones, but found they left some open space just where my hip bone is, and I have smashed that a lot because of it. I recently got some Rhip Clips that just clip to your waist band and go inside your pants and you can place them right where you want them. I have taken some falls on those and they have been great. The fall in the driveway was completely padless and it hurt really bad!
@@theaverageoldguy ye I’ve been there. Sometimes I’m still stupid and go out on mine without them all on and it’s always that day you fall. Those things sound handy rather than shorts that do have a habit of working there way down abit and meaning the padding ends up in the wrong place. I think it’s awesome your skating and I hope I can still too like you. I certainly hope so 🤞
The jumps at 00:01:41 are niiiice. You are activating almost your entire body for the jump! Have you ever looked at female skaters? We have to do the same thing to make higher jumps.
Also I wanted to advise you, to get some crash shorts! Half the girls on the derby team and a lot in the skate park, and also me, run them. Padded shorts, protects the sides of the booty and the booty.
I have skated in padded shorts for a long time. I had the Bodyprox shorts from Amazon. They had a nice butt pad, but it seemed like when I would fall on my hip, it always missed the padding and hit right on my bone. I now skate with some Rhip Clips that slide into your pants and clip on your waist. I can position them right where I want them and they have been great so far. That fall in my driveway was completely padless, I just jumped on the board for a few seconds and BAM on the concrete! I haven't fallen that hard in years even at the skatepark.
@@theaverageoldguy Oh no! Oh man. As we say in Germany, "gute Besserung." Get well soon. Maybe if you do some skate or board maintenance you can drop us some content while you're still recovering.
keep it upppp! wishing for some grabs or small 180s? ! letss gooo!
I would love some grabs. The only time I touch my skates is when I'm putting them on, and even that's a struggle!

You know I have never thought about that, I'll have to start paying attention to how the females jump, thanks!
