The Minimonsta is the best modeling of a Mini available bar none. But even it can't quite match the balls of a genuine Minimoog D, but it comes pretty close.
Well, this is a nice instrument, no doubt. But of course I can't afford one. So I have to do with a two oscillator 16-note polyphony square wave generator with variable pulse, ring mod and resonant low pass filter, and 3 independent LFO's. I can also use it in bi-timbral mode as a four oscillator 8-note polyphony synthesizer, but there's really no need. Two oscillators is just fine. Oh and the square wave is internally processed to obtain the sawthooth. So, that's my substitute for the Minimoog, or any low pass filtered subtractive analog for that matter. I am sure Mr. Dave Spiers would know which instrument I am talking about.
***** I think most people only use two oscillators. The companies that produce these mono synths probably find it more cost-efficient to produce these 2-oscillator synths. That's just my guess.
Daniel Davis Meh. You can't make that ultra-fat bass or three-note chords unless you got three oscillators. More synths should have been designed with a switchable audio osc/LFO. The odyssey did that but with only two oscillators. I guess the Mono/Poly got it right.
The minimoog is my all time favorite synth, but I don't like that slightly detuned sound he's getting here. Very unpleasant sound. I would've rather just heard the raw oscillators in tune.
Man, I could listen to your instrument demos all day. Oh, I just have.
I still have mine that I bought in 79 used. It is still working fantastic. I really enjoyed the video.
"It's almost as if you make a physical connection with the electrons buzzing around its innards". Amen !
I love your reviews. They are to the point with no babbling and cover most anything one would want to know. Thanks!
Super tour of the MiniMoog, and nice taster of the MiniMonsta. Thx.
Love that Filter FM fx sounds spacy and out of this world !!
Excellent, excellent video! And I loved the jam at the end!
Simply Brilliant .
I'm supposed to be editing samples, but I can't help watching GForce videos!
Brilliant demo on the Minimoog-- best one I've seen yet!
superb video and tasteful playing, thanks!

A very well explained demonstration . Wether you know this instrumemt inside out or not, an absolute pleaseure to watch and listen to.
What a great video, thank you so much for doing this!
All the best from Berlin!
Nice little JaM there during the end bit :-)
Awesome video!!!
Awesome
Very informative video without over pitching your product.
Cheers! Mr. Spiers now Roland, it appears , "hopefully" you're team and you create wonderful product! I hope me chap I spell you're name correctly
This wonderful Minimoog sounds like my Krog Wavestation EX synthenzier. I like Digital but Analog sounds amazing.
King..

that jam at the end of the video is totally herbie hancock
Why is having three oscillators so rare in monosynths?

In this case, there is no dedicated LFO.
Probably because most people gave up the third OSC in favor of an LFO, and so the Minimoog was basically a two OSC, one LFO synth.

+F0nkyNinja well at least there are two synths for you to use. Now get them and make some awesome music.
