Honestly only came here to find the part where Beyoncé was mentioned but thank god there were no time stamps because I just got lost in this conversation and learned soo much. I’m definitely going to binge watch/listen to your other episodes.
Same! I love how thru her I’m learning/listening and soaking up this culture that I’ve always seen imitated and referenced but never dove into. I’m learning about legends, trailblazers all from one album. And that to me is the greatest gift.
ISNT it a great conversation! Kevin is a legend and has stories on stories to tell! Thanks for tuning in too! Subscribe to see more Queer legends and Allies we have on!
So glad you stayed......Kevin is a part of queer history and needs to be learned, I was blessed enough to grow up with Kevin's music in my life and knowing his struggles and where he comes from is an awesome thing to have watched.
To be so fabulous hes so down to earth. Im 39 so I was young tall thin gorgeous fresh twink who looooooved the whole circut scene. Ive seen him at white party and danced in foam in my underwear in Miami, in circut parties in Chicago and New York. I danced my tail off to his stuff. I just love it.
I think we will look back on Renaissance decades from now as a moment in time that speaks of the resistance and resilience of the underground queer American culture. I love that Beyonce included a "Vogue" interlude, because this album is like "Vogue" coming to its full fruition on a mainstream level. I am so happy that I got to discover you through this sample, Kevin Aviance. You are such a beautiful, radiant star and I'm grateful we get to bask in your light❤
Washington DC has so much culture and beauty. Known to be “Chocolate City” and to hear you both say the people there are “busted” within 30 seconds is disheartening in general but specifically as someone who calls this city home.
He was reciting lyrics from Kevin's song "Fanfare" off his album "Box of Chocolates". It was supposed to be "and titillate", but I think he was reading off genius lyrics, which incorrectly has it listed as "antielite", hence the weird pronunciation. I did a deep dive bc I had the same question lol
Not necessarily, he could be a recovery from many issues, y’all automatically think the worst for people. I hope u don’t have to endure anything that could lead to slurs in speech, like strokes, dysarthria, alcoholism, brain injury, Cerebral palsy, Guillain-Barré syndrome, Huntington's disease, neuromuscular disorders. Get some facts first
Kevin was savagely attacked by seven people and his jaw broken in a literal hate crime. Khalil was exactly right for telling you to look up the facts before jumping to conclusions about why someone sounds a certain way. So, no, it’s not drugs.

They didn't lie...DC is very busted lame and boring....I can't wait to leave this place...
I prefer DC over here in Atlanta...
Sorry, but many Chocolate Cities are busted. Honey, it is the truth. Black folks 30 to 50 years ago had more class than black folks being ghetto now.
I like him
Beyonce 105:17 Thank Me Later
Haha I can thank you NOW! I only came here for Beyoncé and was trying to find that part 😅
