MGP (Melodi Grand Prix) was one Finnish music competition for child aged 8 - 15 years.The competition has been organized every year since 2007 of Yle (Yle Fem) also FSU ( Finland's Swedish youth association ) and was one of Svenska Yle's most popular children's and youth programs.The participants were required to be between 8 and 15 years at the time of the competition, and the competing songs were self-written on Swedish, Finnish or Sami . From 2007 to 2009, the competition served as a selection of Finland's contribution to MGP Nordic. Two grants were sent to MGP Nordic, but when it was cancelled after the 2009 edition, the competition continued, but without passing on the winners to any other competition. In August 2021, YLE announced that the fifteenth edition of MGP would be the last.
