I love that you mentioned to consider the size and vibe of an event, it’s easy to underestimate how different pride events (/CSD events) can be. For example near where I live there are two very big pride events each year, the CSD in Cologne and the CSD in Düsseldorf. The one in Cologne always has a really big parade with over two hundred organisations and companies celebrating (I’ve even seen local sports teams and firefighter departments participating) and there’s always a big party with typical Kölsch music afterwards. In Düsseldorf on the other hand the parade is relatively smaller (only 50 organisations this year) but there’s a great street festival afterwards with food vendors, live music, drag performances and political parties advertising themselves. It’s also common for friend groups to sit together and have a picnic while enjoying the music and atmosphere.
I've been to 2 Pride events in person, but always felt more like I was there to report on local events and to celebrate the many faces of our democracy. Then again I never was one for parties and so the very party style atmosphere of Pride can feel unsettling like straight party culture does as well, maybe its an autism/introvert thing but still. That said, I hope everyone who goes finds it enjoyable and happy.
Wearing a green and purple beetlejuice shirt to pride thanks to your clothing suggestion! Maybe i'll pair it with black pants and paint my nails. Anyway, thanks for your aroace videos, they always cheer me up but especially this pride
The video is very nice, thanks. Do you have advice for a closeted one, who wants to go, but doesn't wanna out themselves to everyone, incase mean people are there too?
Certainly! Some of the tips I mentioned in the video could apply here, such as if you have a supportive friend who does know and is available and willing, bring them. They might be the only person there who knows about your identity, and that's perfectly fine. Even if you don't have someone who knows, you can still ask a friend to join you simply under the guise of making a fun day of it as an opportunity for the two of you or your larger friend group to have something fun to do together. Also as I suggested and if you'd still like to show the colors of your own identity's Pride flag, consider piecing together an outfit that subtly shows off your colors while still blending in. As I mentioned, a Milwaukee Bucks jersey and hat were perfect for me as I live in Wisconsin so at that first event, no one thought anything of it. Other ideas could be wearing a shirt with a character you identify with. An example of this that would work for me personally is Gwenpool from Marvel Comics. She is an aroace character just as I'm aroace myself. Those who are in the know at the event may give you a supportive smile or complement. If they do say something potentially outing you, you can just play it off like, "Oh are they really? How perfect! As an ally, I'm glad I picked out something supportive and fitting today!" I hope this helps! All the best!
@@fluentlyaspec Thank you very much. I have an non-binary and potentially lesbian friend to go with me. And my only idea was to lie to everyone and calling myself an ally instead of aroace, except the people at an ace place or something. But thanks, it helps a lot
Idk if this is the right place to ask, but is it common for people to go nude or have specific body parts uncovered at pride events? I've never been but heard from some friends that that kind of thing was really common at a pride event near where I live. I'm ace and really don't want to see that so while I do want to go to pride I'm really apprehensive to go after hearing all that...
It can depend on the event itself and on local laws and restrictions. I would suggest if that is something that you are not particularly comfortable with and you are hearing it is common practice at the event you’re considering going to, then it’s okay if you decide not to go. You deserve to feel welcome and included too. Perhaps you could look into if a neighboring city or village has an event that is more in line with you. Or maybe there is an area at this event for more family-friendly activities you could participate in. I went to Pride in Milwaukee this year for the first time, which is the largest event in my state. There were some folks less covered than I was used to from the other two smaller events I go to, but it also wasn’t as much as I was lead to believe. That doesn’t mean it would be the same in your case however. You have to do what feels right for you ❤️
Ok, no hate, but this is like the 3rd time I've seen aro/ase related content in my youtube feed recently. Idk, maybe the algorithm caught on to the fact that I've been single for way too long, lol.
I totally get that. Researching an event can help. Look for ones that are in smaller areas, not large cities. Also going during the day vs at night might make a difference. The bigger the event, the more likely you’ll be to run into that issue. But smaller, community type midday events might be your vibe, and that’s perfectly fine too!
Interesting, i've been to the pride march in my city twice and as a demisexual demiromantic person, i didn't experience any sexualisation. There was nothing that made me uncomfortable in the event 💜💚 i wonder if it was partly because my country is small
@@applepatronum4934 So they are safe for Aroaces? I'm sex repulsed that's why I take caution 😅 It is my goal to go, I just don't know when haha! It's only been a year out for me but I do try and get involved. I have a Bi friend and we go to a new queer owned cafe in my local area together which I love 😊🏳️🌈
@@kaseyford1490 well, i can't tell how it is in other places, but my experience was pretty chill and wholesome. Maybe if you can find pictures of past events like fluentlyaspec said, you can see a bit of the vibe! The queer cafe sounds lovely, i haven't been to one!
Happy Pride!!! 🖤🩶🤍💜
It's always Pride for all of us everyday
Thanks for sharing this! I really appreciate the positivity for the community!
Thank you so much! It’s really important to me that everyone who wishes to attend a Pride event be both prepared and excited ☺️

(btw I'm not a native english speaker so sorry for any mistakes made)
Lots of people go to pride who aren't LGBTQ+. You can just go wearing what you'd wear to any other festival, and crowd watch.

I'd like to go to one someday but I'm just worried about all the sexulisation that a lot of these events have 😕
