I was born there nearly 81 years ago but we moved away when I was 5 so I only have memories from my family’s tales about life there. My son and I looked at Waycross a couple of years ago when we were looking for a home to buy. Sadly, the pickings were quite slim. We’re now happily living in a small town in western New York. I’m sending good wishes to Waycross…it deserves better than what this video shows of life there.
My family moved there when my dad retired from the army in 2013, it's pretty good besides from neighborhoods around downtown not being very desirable and sort of run down, near the Coca Cola building, but not too bad, stayed for a pretty good 8 years of my life.
He's going south on US 1, that's State Street. Just past the famous Maryland Fried Chicken, used to be awesome! Whoa, hold the phone that building on the right is NEW! Some kind of government building... Methodist Church on the left. That used to be Blackshear bank on the right at the corner, maybe still is... That brick bldg on the left on Plant used to be the train station. Dead as damn wedge just like it was when I left...🤣YMCA old bldg, episcopal church, the old Carter House, was Whitfields for a while, old Lyric Theatre. Post office, Federal Court House. County Courthouse, county jail, it's changed very little

Will be making our home there soon. We purchased 24 acre lot Millwood plantation. ❤
I am thinking of moving there myself looking at a home on Monday- how do you like it so far?
We purchased the land. Visit 3x years now. Making our plans to move. Selling our current home in another state now.
Millwood aint in Waycross!🤣
I almost moved there from PA in the early ninties. I haven't been there in at least twenty five years. I hope to go back some day.
Was this shot on a Sunday. I can't believe Waycross would be this dead on a weekday. Although, I haven't driven through Waycross in years.
I live here now and I've never seen it this dead on a Sunday.
Why did you only drive in the old part of town? You didn't bother driving UP TOWN . . . curious why?
Didn’t see fairgrounds or the racetrack, one of the best dirt tracks in the country!
I watched this as am a huge Gram Parsons fan - he lived his first 12 years here - thought believe he as born in Florida. No mention of him 😢
My hometown ❤❤
same bro❤
