Definitely don't have time to get them from way down there. Unless we come up with lionfish harvesting robots (remote controlled mini subs maybe), they're pretty safe below no stop diving depths
Dan it’s so cool when you drop down then all of a sudden you’re surrounded by a school of fish. That extra second definitely got you a nice gag. Good information to have
RK, what's notable is that occasionally I'll run into one that seems smarter than the average and I'll really notice it, Like "that was a smart Red Grouper". As a species, they def don't set the bar too high though! Best, Dan
Are you swimming down or just dropping? It looks like you are getting to the bottom very quickly for some of these deep dives. I was just wondering how you do it. Thanks
he is swimming down. no doubt. They key is to be able to equalize your ears without pinching the nose. By "flexing" your throat. its a game changer when you can paddle down at full speed.
RD, I usually break the surface cling, give a couple of kicks to get going and then try to glide. If the currents booming, I'll sometimes kick to get down quicker so there's less time for the current to sweep me off. Plus, I usually edit most of the descent time out of the videos unless there's something cool going on. Thanks for watching, Best, Dan
Thanks Richard, I've done quite a few at the Blue Wild but unfortunately that's been canceled for this year due to the Covid mess. Hopefully things will normalize and we'll get that back on track. Best, Dan
Thanks Will, much appreciated. I haven't check into current training levels for many years, but when I did, you would need Extended Range and entry Trimix, maybe advanced Trimix. Again, I don't know anything about current training requirements, there may be many other levels of training required nowadays. Contact TDI (Technical Diving International)or any of the Tech training schools and I'm sure they'll steer you in the right direction. Best, Dan
Enjoying your videos!!! At what depth was this? Either which way you got 2 Nice fatties!!! It’s a good thing you’re only limited to what air supply you have in those tanks... I hate to see if you had unlimited amount of oxygen... you’d probably decimate a whole reef. ☠️☠️☠️ Haha!!! Great vid!!! Thanks for sharing Dan!!!

@@mikehawk1673 the explosive charge from the powder does more damage than the bullet does . T50, we only use Zeagle reg's. Before they were bought out, Zeagle used to be located about an hour from my house, so it was very convenient for us. Besides that, I've had excellent results over the years with their products. Best, Dan
@@danmacmahon3973 , thanks! You are correct. The other posters pointed out the chum from the boat and that groupers sometimes throw up their stomach contents going to the surface. Again, thanks.
Sam, interesting question. I do it for a living and am proud of the "green" way that we do it. No by catch, no wasted fish, no line or nets left in the water., supplying fresh wild caught fish to consumers, etc. But I have little desire at this stage of my life to kill large amounts of fish or even exceptionally large fish and wouldn't do so if I wasn't doing it for a living. I would def still spear fish but would do so more for the enjoyment of the sport, the camaraderie and of course some good eating. Again, that's a very deep and interesting question. Best, Dan
Dan. I thinks He means when you are taking the life out of the individual fish. Or it it so "just a job" that you don't even notice? Most city people never killed anything and want to learn what farmers and real people always knew...
It's better to kill your own meat. That way you can respect the life and kill it hopefully much more humanly than the slaughterhouses, or commercial fishing...

Nice brother. Thanks for taking us along on another great dive.

Very nice Dan you are best spear fishing men
