🍤 Solo Run Rules: 🍤
►I can only use the title Pokemon in battle. No switching at all, HM Pokemon are required.
►No use of items in battle. Potions, TMs, etc. are allowed outside of battle.
►No use of skips/exploits. This includes the Pokedoll Marowak skip. Badge boost is unavoidable.
►The TMs for Double Team and Toxic are banned. Pokemon that learn similar moves naturally are allowed to use it but not the TM.
►I play on x3 speed and use the in-game time for the run along with resets to rank these runs.

Gale of Darkness is still one of my favorite Pokémon games ever. Don't even care about the lack of modern things in it.
Yea, it's sad it's like 20 years old at this point.
Yeah, and it’s crazy how 20 year old 3D graphics are better than what we currently get lmao
@@thatwackycardgame5655 It was definitely far more stable than some games now. I'm happy the games now are fun, but after the glitches I've seen in Scarlet/Violet, I do wonder where quality control went. Not that RBY is perfect... but dang.
It's moderizable, too. If it didn't become a collectors piece immediately after release it would probably have mods available for it just as much as emerald did
There’s an amazing romhack for it, that added 100+ Pokémon, made it gen 6 battle system and types, tons of post game/ edited what trainers have and levels, it’s by far the best romhack I’ve ever played
The mental image of Brock being aware of your runs is fucking hilarious to me.
I imagine him like the Ben Affleck meme smoking a cigarette when I walk in. On bad runs where I blackout grind on the light years jr trainer over and over is a funny image too. We get to do it with Zubat Tuesday!
What a beast. I guess it shows just how good A-Raichu and A-Ninetales were if something like this couldn't beat them.
Yea, the leveling group just makes most of the difference. I don't have accurate split data for runs back then and I haven't used split data much on the channel but I plan on doing it for future runs. The main thing is that later splits the faster leveling group mons can still hit easy one shot ranges whereas the slower group Pokemon just have to brute force.
Algorithm just popped this video up for me and I’ve gotta say the editing is really on point - keeping the stats and moves up date, plus the opposing Pokémon’s stats really helps with the immersion.
Appreciate it! Yea I've put a lot of work into it but it goes a little deeper than that. It's actually live updating stats so you can see things like exactly how the badge boost works. I've gotten the game down to a science and I use some code to live read the RAM of the game so it's just cool to see!
Damn lol this was dominant AF. I like to hear that behind the scenes thought process you sometimes elaborate on.
The Slaking/Alolan Raichu streams over the last few weeks made me have to redo a huge chunk of audio and redo graphics for this one lol. The Mt. Moon manip was something I was just going to worry about later and it just affected a lot.
Another real one! This was really cool with seeing XD Lugia again and cool idea.
Glad you enjoyed! Yea, it was a really cool concept I've been working on for a while.
Damn...that intro made me realize just how long it was since XD came out. I'm in my early 30's now. I'm getting old...
On a more positive note, this run was fantastic. Love seeing our favorite Shadow Legendary banish every Pokémon it comes across into the Shadow Realm. All we're missing is the Riku cosplayer from Colosseum and Mirror B. and we'd have the perfect game! Cheers from a Real One!
Also yes, I miss our dear friend Hiker Anthony. He was a stalwart resident within the halls of the Elite Four.
Yea it's been quite a while. Most people have never even played it and the game is only like a year away from being able to drink haha.
As for Hiker Anthony's absence, he was just on another iteration of the ROMs when I was using gen 2 colors. I got back to the yellow pallet because I like it too much and too many people were copying the gen 2 colors lol.
Gotta agree with the manip thing. While I am too stupid to understand why the game checks for Mt. Moon and Paras to give you zero encounters or whatever (or rng manips in general beyond starting on frame x), your dedication to making it more scientific seems perfectly in line with trying to have the same base for all pokés, especially since iirc you'll use repels later on to eliminate the encounter-based rng, which speaks in favour of trying to eliminate it further. Obviously you'll always have some rng, but trying to reduce it sounds like a good thing.
Also, love the OP pokés in gen 1 runs and for a channel of your size, your work with overlay and stuff is fucking amazing, man.
Yea I think it had to be done as well. I’m juuuust now putting more work into Gen. 2 and I’m thinking about it there too. I think battles, the Pokémon and it’s stats/moves, and random things like wild encounters pre Oaks parcel are fine to keep.
ALGORITHM!!!
I'll watch this when I get home from work. Can't wait!
Hope you enjoy!
The moment i saw shadow Lugia and knew it was you
I grabbed the snacks and the pops and was ready. Let's go for another great video.
The thumbnails are pretty distinct! Hope you enjoy!
Such a cool concept for a run! Very well executed man. I loved Colosseum as a kid, but never bought Gale of Darkness. Good stuff.
Similar concept so you get the gist!
Damn Matt I’ve been following for almost a year now and your banter has become excellent, and runs are very entertaining. Good work man.
Thanks! It all started last year when I decided to get less robotic and allow a lot of improv in most of the lines. I just use bullet points these days.
Great video, again! You are the man! I agree, give these Pokémon their moves. Don't limit them to scratch...
'Hey guys today we have a video where I spent my free time designing sprites, coding the ROM, adjusting the overlay and mapper data to read this custom ROM and I'm pleased to announce it's barely better than just a mid Pokemon'.
I'll pass, lmao.
I love how unique and well thought out your runs are. Love your stuff!
Appreciate that a lot!
Lugia is my favourite legendary and to see the shadow form terrorize gen 1 feels good
Oh yea. It always feels good to see something perform well.
I don’t think blastoise was disrespectful. I think he was lowering his head to bow to great shadow Lugia. Nice run.
That’s a good way to look at it!
The Orre region has such a unique style to it that it remains largely? unexplored in romhacks. It's an example though of a company other than gamefreakaling a Pokemon game correctly, and showcases that there's a lot of potential in what the franchise is able to showcase. Glad we get to explore a tiny bit of that today
For sure. I wish there were more 2D games that took a chance and pushed the franchise but those days look long gone.
*Game Freak making
Although I could get behind a word like gamefreaking. Especially after some of the most recent games.
Ayyy, thanks for the shoutout! Just catching up on your videos. Love the Colosseum and XD games
Yea, I don't think we'll ever see anything like it again.
I'm really glad the Mt Moon stuff worked out! This video gave me a bit of an itch to go back and finish Colosseum and Gale of Darkness.
Yea, got it working for Red/Yellow and Crystal now!
Came from Scott’s thoughts channels man I love your videos now too, I love porting back cool Pokémon
Appreciate that! Been doing cross gen since 2021 before it was cool lol.
Foil Dark Raichu was a major *power move* back when I was a little kid.
Oh yea. My friend had the 1st edition and I was in shambles trying to get one before the set went to normie non 1st edition.
Another great run, thanks Matt.
Thanks!
I'm so glad you did shadow Lugia! Not only is it a real1, but I also absolutely loved Pokemon XD and Colosseum, so I appreciate any call back to those
Yea it was a much needed run. It's different and I'm really happy with the last two cross gen runs.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 as you should be. You're putting out some great content.
Appreciate it!
I was very confused during the first few seconds. My ears told me resident evil but my eyes were definitely seeing Pokemon lol
It's just telling you this is the safest room in the mansion, haha.
That "I'm in danger" stuff has to be a staple in all your runs now. Always entertaining to watch Matt keep up the good work dawg (I mean duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude)🤘😎
I think I used it in the Charizard video too but glad some people commented on it lol.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 I can see it now, super effective crits "Hehehehe I'm in danger" 😂
Years ago my first iteration of trying solo runs was more focused on memes and little pop-ins like that but the problem was that I wasn't used to speaking and was pretty garbage at the game. I try to add some funny things in here and there still though but I've came a long way!
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 I can say we've noticed. As always keep up the good work duuuuude we're proud of ya 🤘😎
I never played Gale of Darkness, or anyone of the Pokemon games on GC, but this was a great run and creative idea. I always love your cross gen runs. Side note, Golbats space world sprite😂
Real One!
Can't get any worse than the r/b sprite, lmao.
Aww yeah the best time of the week. GLM release day. Looking forward to this one. Keep on keeping it real brotha!
Got dinner with the in-laws later, studying for a test now!
I was fresh outta work grinding some platinum battle factory. Excited to see the Mt. Moon manips in future videos as well. Always loved the speedrun strats and would love to see a breakdown of the set ups for those in the future.
@@ryanbenedetti-kp2yx I'm hoping to just do the speedrun eventually. I'm struggling to find spare time on top of the spare time atm but eventually we'll get there.
Tombstoner brother! Always loved the OG Lugia this one is even cooler.
Yea it’s sad it’s only in one side game. It’s underused.
This is a comment. Comments influence the UA-cam algorithm. Influence the UA-cam algorithm. Leave a comment.
Nice.
Just open this up and I’m already so excited! What a fun Halloween video
It really is. It was something I wanted to do last year but didn’t have the tech.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 I am so glad that you are still creating, and even beyond that, continuing to strive to make exciting new content
There’s always something to improve on. I got a lot going on but half the fun is not only just playing the game well but improving video pacing, editing, and all that. Just going for the higher quality rather than ‘talk over footage with no editing’ type of approach.
Real one who will definetly watch this entire video tommorow
Cool! Enjoy.
Nice run! And awesome job on the sprite
Oh yea. I went through like 5 iterations trying to capture the flavor with only two colors lol.
Binge watching the solo run playlist while I work that Ralph bit caught me off guard lol
Lmao. I tried it in a few runs. I like the edit.
Should’ve had a starting moveset of gust and bubble smh my head
Whirlwind and make it just be like a regular run lol.
It's always a good day when I have time to watch GLM. When I saw this in my feed it was an insta add to my pokemon list to watch.
Nice. It’s a banger! It was a pretty good run!
I never played that game, and never knew about this version of Lugia! Pokemon Silver (Soul Silver really) is my absolute favorite version of Pokemon ever. Love your runs!!! ❤🎉
Appreciate it! It's no surprise. It was made by a company other than Game Freak and is nearly two decades old.
Tbh id love to see a Solgeleo run, i wonder how fast a beast of a pokemon like him can run through Pokemom Red and Blue
I had scrapped the alolan summer run but I actually had the sprites made up several months ago. I just got the vibe that people were tired of the cross gen runs and then it seems like in the past two weeks everyone is all in on them again haha.
Dusk Mane or Dawn Wings Necrozma might be a better bet. You keep the 100 power starting STAB move, get higher attacking stats, and starting Charge Beam is potentially amazing if you get the 70% boost chance.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 well either way you do a hella good job with the sprites and videos, I'm willing to watch what ever you put out 🙏
@@carl4889 Sogaleo is my favourite pokemon, that was the main reason I said what I said
@@carl4889 They trade some Speed for it though. How about Ultra Necrozma?
Great run Matt I find these cross gen runs so interesting
Glad you enjoy them!
REAL ONE!!! Let's give Bruno a break and time to substitute Hiker Anthony in!!
The Arcanine in Blaine's batle and that blastoise in Champion's battle was closed, but glad that bird got 0 reset and finished the run strong.
Good job Matt, looking forward to the next one as always~
I'll see if I remember for next time! Yea there was some close calls. Ultimately, you get a free reset to not count against you in these run but that 0 does always look better.
This is a certified GLM Classic, absolute powerhouse. Silly idea for the future, somehow a lavender town Ghost run?
I'm not a fan of basically having to make up the stats and moves for something. Everything I do is rooted in actual Pokemon with tangible movesets and stats!
Cool run Matt. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! 👍
You’re the most practical person in terms of time optimization
Thanks! We'll see if I can carry it over into the speed run.
Well modded, BTW, I was originally befuddled on how to do this, and then remembered about the disassembly. LOVE the artwork too, BTW! I'm just before Brock and staking right now that this guy is almost certainly going to dominate!
Any of the cross gen runs sans Shedinja dominate but the only question is how high will it climb.
At end, well played over all! (Yeah, you mentioned the minor mistakes, but don't think they would've changed the results -- of course I could be wrong, though.) Looks like my co-fave Alolan Ninetails (next to regular Vulpix -- who's definatley not the same level, but is number one in my heart), is still on top and definately the guy to beat (well along with the Mew Two bar itself)
Yea I mean Alolan Ninetales is less than 2 minutes from the world record time. Considering x3 speed, it’s just not beatable.
Those dragonairs looks thicc
They’re just slithering around.
bro got nerfed and still beat mewtwo. that's crazy. (shadow blast wasn't dealing super effective damage)
It was, I just adjusted the base power in the backend because coding it to actually be super effective got messy with dual types and it would be doing an unintended 320 effective power before the crit damage.
I love the fact i found a pokemon channel where someone pronounced names and items like I do in the southern tip of Appalachia.
Instant sub lol
Rare to see someone not from Canada lol.
@GymLeaderMatt1987 haha true I have meet a ton of cool Canadians in pokemond channel comment sections. I was beginning to think I was a lone southerner who still liked and played pokemon lol
"I don't think Raticate is moving anymore." You bastard. YOU killed CUK's Raticate. No wonder he has a grudge against you.
Lmao, just a reference to that old Raticate copy/pasta.
just got my sodi pop brother love your vids
Noice. Appreciate that, brother.
This was an absolute (Shadow) blast to watch. It's just fun watching Pokemon tear through the game like its butter. Oak nodding off at the wheel while he accidentally gives a kid the physical embodiment of a hydrogen bomb.
P.S.: How are you finding the texture of the speedrun? I'm not super familiar with how exactly the run looks but I'm pretty sure they still use things like X-Items and what not. On a casual level, I personally think X-Items are perhaps some of the most criminally underutilized items in the game, but that's at least in part because they also feel really, really strong to use.
The speedrun is very front loaded. I don't get a chance to practice a ton but just mastering the early manip for the god Nidoran and using the extended method to get a guaranteed Pidgey into a guaranteed turn one string shot on the mandatory Bug Catcher takes a lot of memorizing but it has nothing on the extremely long path for the Mt. Moon manip.
Everything else is just like a solo run in a sense from carefully routing out how many hits to do here and what things to get when but mastering the Mt. Moon manip specifically is giving me a hard time. It's rough and if I never actually get to do runs, that will be the reason.
I want to say that all my other experience could lead to me finding some little method that's effective but to keep it real I think this game is fully optimized and I'm better off using the 1h 44m world record route. For x items, it's basically a free speed/special boost when you need it and it's common during the final 7ish fights to just see x-speed and x-accuracy to force your underleveled Nidoking that you skipped every encounter and item for just mindlessly spam Horn Drill and win, haha.
It's definitely different and it's extremely hard to play at x1 speed. It kind of sucks and having to use a specific emulator with a specific setup for validity makes my wrists/hands hurt because I like the turbo keys.
I really liked Raichu as Ralph. The shadow realm returning was a nice treat.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would love to see Sandy Shocks in Generation 1. After all, the best thing about it is that it’s a darn good ferrous magnetic Dinosaur! I call it Magnefrag.
That looks pretty interesting. I'd probably like to do Magneton in gen 1 first. We'll see what the future holds.
Keep up the awesome content Matt! I have a lot of videos to catch up on.
Appreciate that, brother.
I love the gamecube Pokémons.
Colosseum is probably the reason I always cue for doubles in online Pokémon
Very fun game for sure. It's getting old now!
Great run brother! Dugtrio would die to a paper cut 😂😂😂😂 love it dude!
Lmao, it’s hp stat is like 3.
So Psycho-boost is a Psychic type overheat type of move. Interesting! 😂😂
A bit stronger but introduced in the same generation.
Wew. The fact it had an attack that always crit AND is super effective against everything along with absurd starting moves and still loses to the Alolan buddies just shows how important growth rates can be, huh.
Yea these days I think it's like 6th or 7th place.
Gale of Darkness will forever be close to my heart because, to cut a long story short, I lost my Lugia from soul silver long ago and this year, I captured Shadow Lugia, purified it, sent it to soul silver, and the team is finally whole again (and a Charmander because my Charmeleon got yoinked also). I believe what happened was after the Pokémon black savefile my friend sent Lugia to was deleted (yup) team cipher found her and captured her along with the Kanto birds that were once in my firered game (they went home also to Kanto) so the story of XD: Gale Of Darkness for me was a rescue mission. And the peace and closure I felt seeing Luster (Lugia's name) back in soul silver is irreplacable.
That's crazy to still have the hardware and games to get a gen 3 shadow Lugia over to a gen 4 game! I haven't touched actual hardware in forever. Hell, I haven't had a lengthy save file in a long time either. I just like to do a fun run and move to the next game but props to you for that!
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 I got my gamecube kit not that long ago and aside from pearl and heartgold (got stuck for some reason on those) and platinum (the save was desolate after the event that stole my soul silver mons because my Torterra and Giratina were knicked also) i dont reset my savefiles. I get too attached to the Pokémon within them. I basically play them as a slice of life after I clear the stories.
Nice. Glad you enjoy it!
Another great run! Real one brother
Appreciate it! Means a lot!
dear god.. you didnt do this.. theres no way blues surviving this run. hes a walking dead man with this monster on the loose😂
Ha, Blue has had a lot of troubling runs where he didn’t survive. The question is how high will it rank on that list.
Very fun run. Much enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed it!
That bug catcher will have ptsd and never battle against lol
The iconic Shadow Lugia 😁 I played XD as a kid but not Colosseum; I feel like a lot of people don't even know those two games exist.
I think more people know the Lugia rather than the games for sure.
I forgot gale of darkness existed lol
I don't blame you. It's 20 years old lol.
7:24 you cheeky bastard lolol
Ha, I'm just saying I've played gen 1 Pokemon thousands of times for years and never seen a legit run get less than 5! Now we can get 1 encounter every run for consistency sake.
That's James' Koffin being booty hole, he is a poison type😂
what’s the battle theme in the brock fight? (2:55)
It’s a battle theme from Pokémon Coral!
…Saints win ! Who dat?! 😎
Shadow lugia definitely one of my favorite iterations of the mon but never got to play that game
It's not surprising. It's only on Gamecube and it's like 20 years old haha.
I know thus video just got uploaded literally 30mins ago
But instantly made me wish what a shadow Lugia in HGSS would look like 👀
I don’t even know how moddable those games are but this is about the best we can get atm lol.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 oh crap I totally forgot about this comment and started the other ones you had, my bad didn’t know you were doing theses only in the gba kanto johto and hoenn 😭
Don’t mind me these are Still super fire 🔥
You're going to see that growth
All you can do is chip away at it!
“Cuk would like to fight!” lmao
Or watch from the corner lol.
Fun fact, if you don't use super effective moves all the time even when not necessary maybe you can shave some seconds here and there hence surpassing the other two?
Astute observers might notice it never said 'it's super effective' for shadow blast. I had to code it in a way to where it just inherently did super effective damage because if you programmed it to go by a 'per type' basis then it would be doing double super effective damage instead and that isn't intended. It just has an inherent baked in super effective damage to avoid having like 320 effective power.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 damn you busted me, I didn't watch it carefully, I usually listen to these kind of videos when I'm busy. You got me! But the concept is amazing
Should be a fun one 😬. Always look forward to your vids GLM. ❤
Glad you enjoy them!
I wish they would release another pokemon spinoff game that had shadow pokemon in it. Gale of Darkness was fun.
The way gamefreak cracks the whip to put out rushed and uninspired content every year or two makes me think those days are long gone. It's been 20 years lol.
Tombstoner brother!!
A tombstoner to you and yours, brother.
Shadow Lugia was incredible!
I'm glad it didn't just turn out to be mid. Generally I research and pick things I think will do well but this is just one I wanted to do since last October on aesthetic alone.
New mic? Sounds good
Same as always!
I’m surprised that you didn’t make shadow blast have 99 pp as that was one of the advantages of having a “vicious” shadow Pokémon.
There's limits. You have to make judgement calls and giving something infinite PP just doesn't feel very fun to make, which is the entire point for me.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 yeah that does make sense but seeing as it felt like you were having PP issues maybe 20 PP would have been a little better.
Holy shit this is a cool ass Halloween idea!
Yea I wanted to do it last year but I didn’t have the tech.
GoD is such a good game and I wish we got that and colosseum remastered on the switch.
That would be cool.
Bro i need to know what battle themes you've been using for these videos, they sound dope as hell, especially that one that played during the Brock segment
You are probably talking about Pokemon Coral music. I don't know if it's available on UA-cam but other than Coral I just use Gen 1 and Gen 2 battle themes. Sometimes the GBC Pokemon TCG game music.
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 I hadn't heard of pokemon coral, I'll have to check it out
It’s pretty good. I don’t play many rom hacks but the music is just really good.
should do a Mega-Rayquaza run
Maybe one day but the main reason I haven't done megas is that they just don't offer much. What do you think the mega Ray run would provide that the original Ray run I did, didn't? It has more stats and maybe it can one shot a few more things but it would just be like the same run over.
Another comment for questions, thought it'd be good for engagement and the algorhthym:
You got a "tier list" for important stats? Just came to mind when I heard you talking about picking up Irons 90% through the run. Imma guess defense is lowest on the totem scale, and either speed or special are king, but how would you rank the importance of the stats in general?
Second question - sorry if I just outright missed this in the vid, but was shadow a physical or special type this run?
Shadow was actually a split type before split types existed but for Shadow Blast, it was physical. As for stats, it's pretty simple. Speed is the king since it's binary and does something you can just see the results instantly. The next depends on if you are a physical or special attacker. The ones after that are inconsequential and just don't have a place. In bad runs like Pikachu, you can try to buy some Iron and HP Ups just to hope Sandslash doesn't rip you in half but that's more of a product of Pikachu rather than the vitamins being useful.
Oh yeah, forgot about that. Never was fortunate enough to possess a gamecube until like, 25 so only have played very few GBC games.
Damn, in runs, in difference to competitive, tanking hits really is pretty much irrelevant, hm.@@GymLeaderMatt1987
Yea solo runs have little to nothing to do with competitive. Pokemon like Tauros specifically underperform due to other factors like leveling groups that don't even play a role in competitive.
Lmao the Weezing line lol
I think these are the space world demo sprites!
Played colosseum when I was a kid. Still have no clue how I beat that game at 9. Double battles remain hard
Probably a lot of resetting and retrying haha.
alolan ninetails is my favorite pokemon hope it remains #1 but i do love shadow lugia, was so dissapointed i couldnt level shadow up without purifying lol
It's going to be a tough one to beat. It just has everything you could ever want in a solo run.
Damn near spit out my drink: the pp is a problem, it could use another inch or two 😂😂
Ha, where's the lie?
Shadow lugia is the best ! So sad that they didnt make it a thing later on the gens .
Gamefreak would never admit another studio came up with a better design than them lol.
Any respect for Gale of Darkness is great to see, though it is a shame to not see aeroblast see play since seeing a good flying move actually effect the gen 1 space, it was still a fun run.
Also, I was wondering, what is the song used at the start of the Brock battle? I've never heard this before.
Yea, it was in on earlier routes but for slow leveling, it just comes too great.
The musik at the beginning is awesome 🎉
Do you know where it's from?
@@GymLeaderMatt1987 Save Room Theme from Resident Evil
Now that’s a real one.
Only a real one knows how to make little PP go a long way.
It’s a key component of a good run!
I think the travel time should be subtracted from rpg speed runs, I think it could be an amazing motovater seeing: lower numbers, PB's having a better beach bodies, awe' dat good shyte fam
Blastoise salute...sh sh shadow Lugia it was a joke bro
"I'm not laughing"
Rip...to....myself
"Lol I might revive you for those last word 😂"
absolute banger
Appreciate that, brother.
Is there any difference between shadow lugia and normal lugia or is it design and slight moveset difference?
The moves mainly.
Dig your videos. You make some great sprites.
What's the Chancey rule?
Chansey has 105 special in Gen 1. When the split occurred, it had 35 special attack and 105 special defense. I take the highest number for my runs is what it means.
Also, Gen 4 WASN'T the first time the physical/special split was implemented.
Nope; that honour goes to...XD, of course. Shadow moves were either physical or special depending on the move itself, so Shadow Blast was physical, Shadow Bolt was special, and so on.
Though since the only Shadow move here is Shadow Blast, it'd have to be a physical type.
That’s true but gen 4 is the first main line game to do it. It is physical as true to shadow blast though here!
I'm guessing that there's just no way to start a file with all your HM pokemon in the PC so that you don't have to rely on RNG? After all it's not a reflection on the pokemon if it takes 30 encounters to catch a flyer or whatever
There’s no RNG in that area either! I have a guaranteed paras and Pidgey with pokeballs modified to have 100% catch rate! Every run experiences the same time there.
Would shadow blast be 4x effective against dual types?
No. It's hard coded to just always do 'super effective' damage outside of conventional typings. It would be short sighted to make it behave like a normal typing and put it on the type chart because it would be doing double the damage it's supposed to for half the game but it doesn't do that here.
Shadow type kinda reminded me of the nuclear type from uranium, i wonder how would a uranium pokemon do? Although i'm not sure if you are doing fakemons.
Fakemon is a no from me. It's hard enough to get people to watch real Pokemon lol.
Technically, this isn't fully accurate - Shadow moves have infinite PP in XD, and Shadow Lugia wouldn't have access to any non-Shadow moves unless it was purified.
However, there is *one* accurate thing; Shadow Lugia not getting closer to purification by walking or battling. Unlike every other Shadow Pokémon in Colosseum and XD combined, Shadow Lugia has been corrupted to the point that regular purification methods don't work; it requires a maxed-out Purification Chamber (all nine sets at max tempo) to restore Lugia.
Oh yea, sacrifices and creative decisions had to be made as well as a conscious decision to just not spend the first 5 minutes talking about how GoD differs from regular games. Infinite PP was never going to be allowed and I thought I did a good job at showing the shadow/purified sets. It’s similar to how I’ll pick from level 1 moves in other runs even though any move that isn’t the bottom 4 need to be relearned. It’s just a creative vision to create it in a different game!
