2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 REVIEW - THE BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 вер 2024
- After many mid-engined concepts since 1960, the Eighth Generation (C8) 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is the first production mid-engined car in its history. This American made beauty features a 6.2L V8 with 495 hp and 470 lb/ft. Another premier is the first dual clutch 8 speed transmission. A manual transmission is not available on this new generation. Leave a comment below, let me know what you think.
Competitors include Porsche Cayman, Acura NSX, Audi R8
I fell like a 4month old I can't stop drooling!!!! This is hands down the best bang for the buck period! & yes it's American & a Chevrolet! Am I dreaming???
It’s definitely one if the most exciting cars of the year for sure!
Great video, a little mixed up with the seat pics. We love our 2023 3LT HTC non-Z51 Arctic White with magnetic ride, front lift, performance exhaust, front splitter, black exhaust tips, two tone (black/red) interior and carbon flash painted top, nacelles, low spoiler, mirrors, intake blades, and wheels is the perfect car for us. We will never track it and it’s capable of more performance than we will ever need. Our 2nd Corvette and the best vehicle this 76yo has ever driven.
I want...no...I NEED this car in my life!
want vs need. You need a brain.
What a fantastic car. It reminds me of when the first generation NSX debuted in 1990: a high performance car with exotic looks and layout, great technology, and everyday drivability, from a mainstream manufacturer, at a somewhat attainable price at least for the affluent (relative to say Ferrari prices).
As a Corvette lover, here I watch in the UK sighing..haaa wishing I was there in the desert in a C8 Corvette. I've watched so many reviews and your review is easily one of the best. Your camera work is fantastic. I think you might have used some generic still shots, if so they are so cool..if they are your own then wow..especially the ones in the desert. The design and styling is gorgeous and along with performance and price..what is there out there to compete with the Corvette? Nothing. Its phenomenal and the interior is better looking than a new Porsche 911..it makes it look dull, I'd even choose the interior over the McLaren's. Waiting for the Z06 and ZR1 variants, they should be groundbreaking. By the way I'm a black & red guy when it comes to colours, but I love the gorgeous two tone blue interior..great work, really enjoyed it. Lastly your launch control at 21:22 looked so good, the best I've seen so far, I'm sure it was fun to drive. Regards from England.
The new Corvette will have a right hand drive option, lots of people in Australia have shown interest. I think it will be available in the UK as well.
Hold on to your socks. Right hand drive corvette is coming to the Europe.
Super Chad I don’t know if you know who Tadge Jeuchter is. If not google him but it came straight from his mouth. And if he says it is then it is. Although I think the way he explains it Australia gets it first and if it does good there then Uk and Japan.
Our 2023 non-Z51 3LT HTC is perfect, that package is only needed if you’re going to seriously track the car. The summer only tires are not good below 45 degrees F and the brake dust is really bad. The C8 is incredibly well made and fun to drive.
Simply the best vehicle for sale on market today, A revolution. Bravo Chevy.
I would not say that, but I think it is the best mid engine sports car value.
front engine rear wheel has a lot of competition.
Civic Type R has the fwd hot hatch to it's self, and turns in great lap times beating many"real" sports cars, for under $40K, great reliability and resale, and so forth and so on.
You guys have to be kidding me Corvettes are like the most reliable sport cars... you didnt notice chevy gave all these youtube ppl the green light to push these cars on preproduction cars... its not like this is a new motor for chevy
@Mar Blox just cant make ppl happy these days lol i dont hear anybody crying about how unreliable a rarri is when a new model comes out.. ppl just sit and lust over them..ive been through many cars so its no way i can look at a chevy as a money pit.... buy this car and i doubt you'll lose much more than 20k in depreciation by the time the warranty is up.... so to basically have this car for 5yrs 20k not to bad
@Mar Blox so your standing on both sides of the fence... on 1 hand the Corvette is a money pit then you'll keep money in the bank by not getting rarri... all i know it shouldn't cost too much far from 20k to keep this car for about 5 yrs.... i took 25k lost on my hellcat after 3yrs not bad considering i also rented it out and had miles by the time i sold it
@Mar Blox you must have no clue how fast cars depreciate.... buy a benz for 150k in 5 yrs it will be worth about 30-40k... if lucky lol
Congrats, GM! on the most beautiful, fantastic auto value for the buck.
We have 2, a 2020 Z51 and a 2022 HTC. Other than the maintenance required for the DCT(every 7500 miles to maintain warranty) we have had little to no problems. Such a refined car compared to the C6 & C7s( 4 C6 including anZ06 & 2 C7s including a GS and a Z06). A special car the never fails to perform and get attention wherever they go.
Very good review, one of the best. 👍
The c8 looks incredible in silver/black trim. It's a fighter jet.
Brian,
Video production quality of this particular upload is uneal, I thought it was better than Motor Trend.
Absolutely great video. In par with factory presentation.
I didn’t realize I commented three months ago, it did not show when I first brought up the comments. Still really love the car.
“This car only comes in auto”
Me, a noob/non-racer: Yes! When I finally get this I have a valid excuse when the elite enthusiasts harass me over it not being manual 😎
Hey Bro,
First time viewing your channel...
Congratulations. This is The Best Corvette C8 review I have seen thusfar... And I've watched all to date.
Good Job! 👍
Wow thanks!
We gotta love when the cars come with (naughty) horsepower :) great review
Bro that car looks insane
That color is gorgeous. Best one I've seen yet.
I've watched many of these recent LA reviews, and no one has talked about the understeer that MotorTrend said was massive.
Nice job BTW, a complete review.
The understeer was actually the pulsing or kinda bouncing I mentioned with the mag ride control on the autocross. Depending on what mode you’re in, the understeer is induced for more stability. I didn’t find massive understeer at all. Were they noticing on the track or on the road?
@@EverydayReviews2022 Ah, OK. Jason Camissa raised it - it sounded like the understeer was really hampering the driving experience. I believe it was on the track with a very early car.
The cars we were driving on the track had the track set up on the springs. It’s not hard to do with just a wrench I think. That being said I think Jason has a lot more experience but I definitely did not experience any large amounts of understeer at all.

@@robdc4829 I've seen complaints about understeer, but I've also seen reviewers mention it is super easy to correct... all you need to do when understeer shows up is let off the gas a smidge, let the nose settle, and then roll back onto the throttle, and the nose will dig in. From what I understand, the understeer was engineered in because understeer is easier for the average driver to recover from.
I have a confession. I saw the new C8 Corvette from a different light today. I usually have to grow into liking a car, but this time I grew out of liking a car. Sometimes down the line, maybe 3-5 years later I ask myself how I could have liked a car. Today, I did that with the Corvette. The Ferrari has a nice shape, the lambo has a nice shape. This car looks like someone designed the front and someone designed the boxy back. The boxy back takes a lot away for the asthetic. Even though the sales will be great, because there are so many people excited about the redesign and all the power, lots of people will have the same negative feeling about the car. It looks like a 2000 concept Corvette, this already aged. I think it's the boxy back of the car that makes it look that way. Don't get me wrong, it's gonna sell like crazy.
You do realize if they had put a rear end on it that you thought was absolutely perfect, there would be a certain number of people that wouldn’t like your preferences. Show me one single vehicle in the history of auto manufacturing that 100% of customers approved of. Opinions are like assholes ..... everybody has one.
@@ellobo1326 The only reason that awful, ugly back is on there is so they can fit golf clubs in the back, that's it, even they know it's hideous.
venom5809 You may very well be right or at least partially right. But again, my point is, no matter what shape and size they made the rear end there would be people that love it and people that hate it. People will vote with their $$. If you see one on the highway and it repulses you, simply turn your head or make a temporary right turn.
@@ellobo1326 The C4 and C6 Vettes were beautiful, especially the C4, the C7 was great until you hit that rear end. The C8's back is hideous, there's no way around that and that black carbon fiber piece on the side is weird, don't like it at all, much better when it's body colored. People buy the Vette because it's a sports car for a relatively low price, the next "cheap" equivalent kind of car is the 911 and that starts at $100,000, so the Corvette is effectively in a class of its own. A lot of sales of them too come from the "I will only buy American" kinds of guys who even if they don't think it's a good or the best car, will still buy it because it's American. I like Vettes, had a couple in the past. I'm in the camp of guys that's hoping these push C7 prices way down, because I would rather have that then the C8, seen plenty of C8s in person enough to know I would rather have the C7.
@@ellobo1326 I know. I just woke up last night at midnight, looked at the car and was thinking something was off. I may get one in the future, but it's too angular. That air intake is weird to me now. I have been following this car for like 9 months or more.
As soon as I win the lottery I'm having a C8 Corvette! If I don't ever win the lottery I will still admire the C8 but from a distance...... :-)
I would get this if I were 57 years old, going through a divorce, and dating a cocktail waitress. Oh wait!
lol if you can afford a 6 figure car as they are going for near dealer markups and this for a non-z51 package car north of $90k. Lol seems like the whole internet can afford $70k plus cars nowadays with ease with all the comments I see with purchasing the c8 lmao!
im 24 and getting it
@kcotte59 It's been tested for 6 years and has a warranty that includes track use.
Do it, Steve!
I would get this car at any age...Its amazing!
Fantastic Video... Super Informative with Phenomenal Production Quality.
Nice to hear Canadian pronunciation, of the letter “Z”... Although, when I learned my ABC’s up in Canada... There was only a US version of Sesame Street, so I say it the American way 🤣
The corvette literally just took my money and snatched my weaves and hairlines lol
Hahhaa
Try paying $5,000 for the equivalent of a Z51 package in a porsche, ferrari, lambo, audi or bmw...NO CHANCE.
Claustrophobic. That the design shortcoming of the interior. Thank you for a great review.
I like my interior to hold me tight and let me know that everything will be okay
the heinous ergonomics
Will probably be the best seller for a while in the U S A..About the best thing to happen to the Corvette in years, or decades to come.More than a chick magnet , but more like a freak and gold digger glue trap ....lol
exactly my bro!
girls are not going to like this car. too difficult to give BJs while riding as a passenger.
Remember guys. Put a towel down on the passenger seat before she gets it. "The Vette makes 'em wet" will be an understatement with this one.
P.S. Seriously, You should send a copy of this to GM, its done as professionally if not better than the factory press releases.
As I understand it from reading Corvette Blogger, this IS Official GM Footage.
awesome video
Great review, I can’t wait to get mine and have on my channel
Very good point about the Convertible offering more storage space in the Convertible configuration. Tadge simply said that you don't lose any storage. despite 103 added pounds, the car looks Euro exotic in the Convertible configuration. Europe is getting the car as is Australia. The Corvette has become a, "Wolrd Car." Just wait until a few people pull up to the Casino in Monte Carlo. The C8 continues to be more andmore amazing, the more enthusiasts look into it. AF
ghetto wannabe ferrari
Excellent review, thanks!
Z51 package seems like the worst value ever. 5 hp, a little more noise, and colored brakes? Big deal. The base suspension is so damn good already, why bother?
performance exhaust, more aggressive suspension setup, electronic limited-slip rear differential, improved powertrain cooling, and bigger brakes. Also you can only get magnetic ride with z51
Fantastic review!
Thank you GM for making the C8....it has caused the prices of the c5 c6 and c7 go way down....now I can get an older one at a very good price.
@Sniper .308 😂😂😂
Best exotic car in the world for the price 👌
Good review....
Somehow the styling resembles the Acura NSX for me ~
Same here. Probably because it's now mid engine.
J Law agree like it’s better looking sister
But much better.
J Law WRONG.
Philip Rosenthale It’s just an opinion, Philip, nothing about it is wrong or right..
11:32 Comparison with the Cayman GTS 4.0 which includes the "much nimbler and more compact" vs "Corvette kind of leaves it in the dust when you talk about numbers", leaves out the crucial stuff. Almost all of that could be gleaned from just the spec sheet. Which is the more satisfying drive on track? The better daily off track? Very interesting commentary on the Magnetic Ride being best for the road, and thank you for pushing the car to its limit provoking some pendulum effect and sliding.
The Z51 is not slower "mainly" because of drag. It's because it has shorter gearing (gearing for acceleration).
Interesting. Thanks. They made no mention of the different gearing, just the lower top speed due to aero.

Damn: that car is the shizznit in silver! (Granted, I find silver the best color for any car, but still.)
xianshep I agree but then I saw it in white. Stunning...but I’d still get the blade silver with a black roof
@@city0166 I really like Zeus Bronze.
xianshep surprised there are no vids of that color in the wild yet.
Brian, you look good in that vette :)
Yeah wish I could make that look permanent👍
I have a 6gen Camaro 1LE, Best Bang 4 Buck.
The opening sequence shows the "chalk" or, 'light gray," also known as Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic. Believe it or not, this is not the longest 2020 color for the C8. Despite the wideness, people couldn't wait to make a, "wide-body kit." The competitors listed, really all are similar in engine placement, all foreign. While this channel is a bit old, it was well presented. While I like the blue color, it just doesn't look right on the interior of the C8. It is not the worst, however: those honors belong to the red colors that people have optioned. Never liked red "in" a Corvette. Looks great on the outside. The development of he C8 DCT, 8-Speed by GM is an as yet under-appreciated aspect of the car. While people shift it and use it and it runs the car for you, there is so much about Tremec; the TR-9080 DCT, and its development. The two filters, for example, provide one filter that is lifetime; and one filter that is changed every 20-22.5K miles, along with the fluid being changed at 20,000 or 45,000, depending upon the age of the car, apparently. However these intervals must be checked as different sources have mentioned different requirements. The fluid, initially thought to be proprietary through Mobil 1 delivery to the dealer and the customer, appears to be identical to the auto transmissions used in a number of Porsche, Audi, BMW and possibly Suburu transmissions, under a different name. If you want to research ths Pentosin FFL-4 fluid, it is part number 1080107. You can find it under the retail sales name: Pentofrost++. It can be had at Autoplicity (800-299-1028). Known for a $104.00 cost for two quarts, it is expensive. As long as this is the same fluid, it is currently on sale for the low, low price of $33.95 for 5 liters! (This was as of 6/3/2020. Any change is per the sellers.) Advance Auto Parts also carries quarts of Pentosin FFL-4 DCT transmission fluid. With all the Corvettes on the road, it is likely the sale price won't last. AF
Great review
Ur polarized glasses look great with the blue interior!...
Z06 ....WANT!
Who's going to be first to run their C8 into a wall, showing off at his local cars and coffee... CLASSIC...
This isn't a Mustang.
“BEST BANG FOR MY BUCK” will forever be @ thee infamous bunny ranch in Nevada! 🤷🏽♂️👌🏽👍🏽🤘🏽🤣🤣🤣
Your Name Here over priced is subjective! It’s like when people see me in one of my many cars! & ask “is gas expensive for that”? My response back is always. People who buy these types of cars don’t worry about gas or paying for ass! 🤷🏽♂️🤣🤣🤣👍🏽
The Convertible Doesn't Have MORE space than the Coupe. It's the same.
It has more because it doesn’t have to use room for the targa top. The convertible top takes less room leaving more cargo space. At least that is what the engineers told me.
Both Configurations have The Same Space but the Boot Space is Used up by the Targa top *IF REMOVED*...
Saying that the Convertible has MORE SPACE Implies that they somehow managed to "CREATE" More Space than the Coupe. ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CONTEXT.
The Words Syntax is just Another sales Tactics.
What are you guys talking about for top speed for the new vette? The top speed is 214.2 mph. Check the stats on UA-cam under Chevrolet new Corvette. It shows a video of it pushing over 200 mph with 2 people in Germany. It does 214mph.
I can only go with what the manufacturer specs are. There can be many variables and there is nowhere to try that top speed out. 214mph? Damn that’s fast.
The meaningful comparison isn't to pricier gassers, it's to Teslas. The C8's specs and price are very close to the Model 3 performance version (which also has a track mode). Its automation (like remembering curbs to elevate suspension) have long been in Model S & X (which are about the same price as optioned versions of the C8, but offer 2.3s 0-60). The C8 is impressive, so why not compare it to its real competition?
because that's not its real competition. I know 6 Model 3 owners. None would cross shop with the C8.
I don't think you understand how competition works lol. No one, and I mean literally not a single person is ever going to decide between a 4 door electric sedan and a 2 door V8 sport/super car
ShellShock794 - They will if the electric sedan is also a super-car.
“One of the most dramatic differences is the styling” how about the fact that it is mid engine?
"Best bang for the buck" frankly I'm really tired of this caption. I think car enthusiasts world-over are smart enough to know the value of a vehicle and how well a vehicle performs. This "best bang for the buck" undermines how fantastic the C8 is. It's like implying that everyone who is buying the C8 is only buying it because it's the deal of the century. Yet this C8 is a top performer period and I know people who own Ferraris Lambos and Porsches who are really excited about this C8.
I will get me one ! Mark my words...
I just saw a blue one with black stripes about 5 min ago on the street. Looked hot!
I didn't realize that this was not a review of the C8 but rather a Corvette ad. Pleeeese...
excellent car
It will only be a matter of time before the European right-hand drive C8's get out it's going to be bonkers as well.
European? Well, British...
They are being produced right now off the line for export.
UK, UK colonies and Japan are the only places that use the bastard right hand drive position.
@@TheShootist I lived at both places and drove too and owned my own drive..
Did you have a chance to crank up the audio? Love to hear a review of it.
I did but not a lot. It was pretty clear and super loud.
the exhaust note has a funny sound to it or maybe its just me . Not sure how to explain it but i do like the racing c8 exhaust
I’ll be sticking with my C7 No manual C8
Nothing wrong with that at all :)
you should....DCT are for noobs who wanna feel better about not knowing how to really drive a performance car
It beats last years Zo6 with ease in automatic shift which is faster than some idiot slamming the paddles. Have fun shifting you dinosaur!
I don't like it. Not a raw enough driving experience. I'd rather get a C5 and put a blower and cams on it and be going just as fast for 1/3 of the price.
It is definitely not a raw experience at all. I’m sure it could be though😊
That was a hell of a launch at 7:00 Whoa!
Looks good in silver 👍
What exotic csr would you compare the c8 ride to?
Brian, the new Vette or the BMW Supra for you?
Vette for me. I’m a sucker for a V8 plus I love a targa top
anyone else like the yellow one?
I loved the yellow. They call it accelerate yellow btw.
I ordered one at MSRP....a base one with NPP and red calipers as options, $62k....I'm in status 3000
Lucky you. I’m still in 1100.
Hyundai Coupe 2020 ?
Hell of a car.
I’ll have to drive one. But I think I’ll take the Porsche Cayman GTS with a manual... all day long.
I will stick with my 7 speed Manual ZR1. I keep hearing all these great reviews but none on the road. I can't wait to hear the nightmare stories from the new owners.....LOL
They haven’t quite hit the dealers yet. Soon though. I like your car!
Don’t be petty. This is the first model year of a mid engine design so there will be some beginner issues for the vet ofc. The engine is still tried and true tech so that shouldn’t have much problems. The corvette team seems to be passionate about this generation so fingers crossed there’s no fiery Ferrari moments.
You should stick with you ZR1 and buy a C8.
@@peterpan7659 I did not see the big draw in going mid engine since most accidents are rear end collisions, so there will be many very expensive repairs with minor accidents. Plus the excessive wear on parts because of different weight dist. will be a problem in new model. Mechanical engineers will be able to clarify. 50k miles down the road will tell the story
You and your zr1 will be of no relevance when the zo6 gets here. As a vette lover how can you want to see this car fail just for laughs? Blasphemy! When there aren’t as many nightmare stories from new owners I wonder what you nay sayers will do then.
Canada eh ? OUT and ABOUT in a BOAT, er Corvette.
What was the color tested? Thx, phd
Which one? I drove many of them. The intro one?
The near-white individual. It’s hard to tell the difference between Artic White and Ceramic Matrix Gray.
That is the spec. I'd get. Blade Silver, spectra gray tridents, Z51, black calipers and black interior.
imagine how fast the first mods will happen. and how fast it will get to 650HP? and that is still NA. with turbos. 1200HP. easy...
Exactly! I’m sure GM sandbagged as well knowing the Z06 will be the real mainstream performance model.
Love the design of the car, but the wheel design is underwhelming.
Good thing that the worst part is the easiest to replace
R u a Canadian vlogger?
yes. 🇨🇦
GM has definitely up'd their game and changed the automotive world!!!
Aren’t all Corvettes mid-engined? Why do people keep saying that this is the first? It’s the first rear mounted mid-engine car, but they are all mid engine.
Mid-engine means rear-mounted.
breathe and squeeze No it does not. It’s the engine placement relative to the axles. Are you telling me that Porsches mid engine?
Its not the first corvette to have a flat bottom undercarriage. Started really with the C5
Good top know. I'm no Corvette expert at all, I'm just going by what I was told by GM. Thanks
This..... is actually..... most of them have the torque tube cut out.
RIPTIDE FPV ahhhhh, i understand then as one solid bottom then yes you are right. On c5-c7 They would use a tunnel plate to close up, hide and supplement the structural loss with what they term as a tunnel plate. Aftermarket companies actually stepped in and offered thicker plates to add strength and help manage heat transfer into the interior.
I love love love this car want one just need the money lol
I don’t understand why the rear had to be so huge and boxy like a Camaro. It’s not like they did that to make room for the engine. The engine is tucked low and in front the rear wheels.....so what’s out there in those square corners of the rear🤔. The car is otherwise perfect.
Will you IMMIDIATLY start using the paddels when you are on track!!!
dry sump shit its really amazing what chevy has done
OBK Yeah, they’ve been putting dry-sump systems in Corvettes since the C6 Z06. I’m glad they thought to do that.
I'm in Michigan and seen these several times since before last August and the last time a couple weeks ago at the mall and I like it less than I did initially, usually it's the other way around. It still looks good and is a great car for the money but I am actually starting to like the C7 more than this. Also by August this year there will be a billion of them on the road and no one will care anymore, especially if it's the usual Corvette driving demographic with their white New Balance sneakers. LOL. Also you are using the music from Guga Foods which is a great channel by the way. 😉 Whenever my neighbors start getting theirs I'll have to drive it to see how it is, I just wish they had hired the same people that designed the rest of the car to design the back, they managed to make it even worse than the rear of the C7. 😂
Ok Boomer
star shopping
The day Chevy makes a better Acura NSX than Honda.😂
I live in CA and never in 35 years would I put a license plate on any of my cars lol
ZR1 = 755hp, C8 50% less horse power? ummm 495hp is not half of 755hp ;)
1LT without z51 still does 2.8 seconds 0-60
" i say zed because we are in canada"
Las vegas is not canada.
The back end makes it look cheap and I don't like the interior, I prefer the look of the generation it's replacing.
No manual, what were they thinking!?
Steve C They were thinking that most people buy the auto, real numbers. Those that go on the internet to type comments with stars in their eyes about a manual have no real world ($$$) relevance.
blueberrycobbler I’m sure if they made 1000 they would all sell
Only the 911 has a 7 Speed Manual
wasting a Vette on the UA-cam generation that can't be bothered to learn how to drive
I give up - hate to be a hater, but it is agonizing to watch a greats sportscar like the C8, driven and reviewed with such inkompetence ......... 😳
The passenger is merely luggage and they can't screw with the radio. This car isn't about sitting in the passenger seat. That's the bitches seat.
This is Corrari.
I dont like the steering wheel,i like it full on top!!
Is anyone still taking about the Supra? ;)
No closeup of the exhaust and revs? Nope.
to be a true gt car, it needs to be able to hit some big bumps and dips in the road without scraping metal or shatter your teeth. You can’t always see these things come at you, impossible at night and made more difficult by the low seat height.
It’s actually not that low. I never had any issue with any speed bumps
