@@Premierehiphop bro I wps there that day I broke through the police barricade when the pigs said they were not letting more people in because it was full so we walked away a bit jumped over the barricade and about two hundred people followed. The police literally didn't know who to chase. We were the the first to brake in hahahaha
I'll never forget this concert. This is hands the best concert I've ever been to. You can't script the moments leading up to this concert that I had. I remember me and my boys in the car on our way to central park from Jersey and on Hot 97 they were saying if you're on your way to the concert turn back around because police shut down all entries & weren't letting anybody else in. We went anyway. Kid Capri was doing the opening act til Nas hit the stage. When we overheard him on the loud speaker introducing Nas we rushed the gate that they had setup & jumped over it and got in. The cops couldn't stop everybody. We were mad lucky. There were thousands who didn't make it in. We took a chance and were part of history. It's more to this story but boy was this one hell of an experience I will never forget!
I was one of the unlucky ones who couldn’t get in. Me and my cousin tried kicking down a fence but couldn’t 😩. We stayed outside and listened to the whole concert anyway. 👍🏻
ThAnkhs for sharing your experience with us all. I too was there with 3 of my closest friends(like fam). I was close to the stage in the middle. We all had a good time. It was fun, peaceful and historical .
I wish I was here man damn, It`s soooo much fun when the people around actually feel the artist just as you do, this crowd was awesome, Nas was awesome as always
I got the goosebumps when I heard the fans singing along with NaS.. I’m actually sitting here tearing up because of the fan base dedication.. It must feel so good to NaS to hear all of you reciting his lyrics.. Salute NaS. #OneLove
my infamous life brought me here, it’s crazy to think mob deep went up on stage and performed with nas after fightin with his ppls and thinkin he set them up and still havin to watch ya back after gettin off stage smh new york niggas a different breed 😂😂😂😂
Yoooooooooo..... This video has been here for a minute but I just barely saw it. THANKS FOR POSTING IT. Watched the whole thing while working from home on a Sunday. All I can say is WAO... Thats why he is my number two favorite rapper of all time right after Rakim. My list is short. Without a doubt Nas took the game to a whole different level and its quite visible in this video. I quit smoking blunts 15 years ago but while watching this video, I smoked like five blunts with my man in the brown shirt in front of you. Again, thanks. One Love....
i just saw kelis checking her phone during this performance guess she cant see that she got a god by her side she wasnt good enough then or now very simple minded
I was there, but I didn't get in. He wanted to do it on the Great Lawn which could hold 125,000 people, but they held it in Rumsey Playfield which only fits 5,000 people. Around 100,000 people showed up. I got to the gate & NYPD said no more people could get in. When Nas started performing NY State Of Mind, people started bum rushing the cops. Then mad cops came out in riot gear. Even though I didn't get in I still enjoyed the experience & is by far the best hip hop concert I've been to. You aren't only hearing people in Rumsey Playfield. You're also hearing the 90,000 plus people who didn't get in. One of the greatest experiences in my life.

This is like looking at a legend, a historic moment. This was really big big big big big deal. The new generation may not know, but whoever captured this. Bless you!
Illmatic has to be one of the most influential, most technical for its time, and ahead of it's time albums to come out in hip-hop's golden era (which i consider to be from 1985-1995ish)
That's what police said i was the first one that ran in the place was like half empty. As soon i i got to the front prolly 300 more people behind me made it.

The audiobook is how I ended up here. I'm talking about whatever actual interviews P actually spoke about this back when it happened, besides him retelling the story in the book.
