- Step by step to replace your car battery in the Cadillac SRX.
Here's a link to the dielectric grease I use: amzn.to/2HvN0Pd
Here's a short video that just shows connecting jumper cables: • Where to connect jumpe...

I was trying to find a video to do the mythical "reset" since my cue screen was acting funky. the steps you provide just for disconnection/reconnection of the battery were perfect!
That’s great!
Did u ever find that video?
@@briizyfbaby16 The battery reset in this video actually worked best....
A lot better video than the other 2 that I watch
I really appreciated your video on replacing the battery in my SRX. I am not mechanical by any means, but your video saved me over $250 dollars. The dealer was going to charge me over $400 dollars for a new battery and to install it. Thank You for showing me that I could do it! ❤️🙏🏾💪🏾
Im not kidding. One of the best , most concise instructional videos ive ever seen!!! Props man!!!
LOL if only there was better lighting!
@@Foxedup that was the best part. You helped me out of a pinch man, thanks.
My Caddy died on me this afternoon in a supermarket parking lot. This video saved me a lot of $$$. First time ever changing a car battery. Walked to Cosco got a battery (they are heavy) and then to Home Depot for tools...
Catalin Panaet - wow that’s great! Thanks!
Thanks so much, i have a 2016 and i was terrified once i saw my battery. But you made it look easy. Thanks for saving me time and money
I had the same reaction the first time I saw one of these!
Grease only the post at the end when the battery is connected. If you put grease everywhere on the post before connecting them you highly reduce the contact between the wire connection and the battery especially with dielectric grease that is know to have a low conductivity.
First of all Thank You for providing this video. I must admit I freaked a little when I saw the battery but after watching your video just once I had no trouble at all changing out the battery. It really went smooth. There are just a few things I would add. When I went to remove the cable from the plastic cover that makes it easier to push the cover out of the way, I discovered that it required a 1/2" socket. No big deal of course but you were so thorough in mentioning the 10mm and 13mm sockets I thought that I would mention this as well.
I also had a minor issue starting the car after the install. As always I put my foot on the brake and then pressed the starter button, but I only got one click and then nothing. The hood was still open so there was a warning message about that on the dash. When I dismissed that message another message came up that said that I had to lower and raise the driver's window, which I did. Then the warning about the hood being up returned. So I dismissed it again and then got a message that I needed to raise and lower the passenger window, which I did. Then the open hood message returned and I dismissed it yet again. At this point I had no more messages. I then tried starting the car again and it fired right up. Success! Odd about the need to raise and lower windows, but the car guided me through it so all is well that ends well.
I just want to say thank you for providing this video. This made changing my battery so much less stressful! I appreciate it!
Vette Wolf - thanks glad I could help!
Greatly appreciate your clear, concise directions. Thank You!!
You bet!
Great video. Easily the best of the 3 that I watched. I'm sure many agree that this info will come in very useful when it's time to change the battery.. Thanks for your time in doing this video.
Thanks!
I have 2 older Cad. battery under the back seat, I wonder what the newer Cad had and how much work. I will say the video tell it all, and looked so easy - ANY ONE COULD do it after watching your video. Thanks so much, always good to learn how to work on your car.
Thanks!
Thanks for your informative step by step video. Made it super easy to follow and change out battery myself. I was able to remove old battery and installed new one in 30 minutes. You made it super easy to do....Thanks again my friend!!!
Thanks! Glad to help!
Saved me a lot of sweat and toil, brother. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to help us out, Foxed Up!
Thanks!
You made it super easy and I cannot thank you enough! Was thinking about having the dealer do it, but saved $175 doing it myself. Thanks again!
Nicely done, especially one handed!!
David Smith - thanks!
Thanks for the video. Replaced the battery and the car would not start but obviously had electrics again. Remote would work door locks and trunk hatch. I looked at some youtube videos on pairing keys. The trick that worked was hold the start button for 12 seconds, release and then start.
Thanks for the tip!
SO GLAD I SAW YOUR COMMENT!! Thank you!! I had the same problem and your info solved it.
Great video, made changing the battery for a 2013 SRX a breeze! Thank you!!!
Thanks - glad it helped!
Thank you for showing how to remove battery.
You bet!
Thanks so much for posting this video, made it so much easier for us. Thanks !!!
You bet! Glad it helped!
Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. I popped the hood and said...."where the heck is the battery".
TwoBuck Chuck - cool glad it helped!
I was working on a 2012 SRX and the battery went dead on me. I boosted it off, but now the air doesn't work, the driverside window doesn't work, and the radio screen is blinking on and off. Would the be a sign that it needs resetting?
This subject has baffled me as to how to replace my battery on my 2013 SRX. What’s with all the cables ending on top of the battery? Anyway, thanks for making it clear as to the replacement. This is the first car that I’ve had that I don’t have a Haynes manual for.
Yeah it’s a bizarre setup!
great job, thanks for the help!
September 5th where can I get the two clips/ clamps. You dropped one of them when you were taking it off.
I was able to switch my battery out myself but now my Cadillac Cue is acting up. Sometimes it comes on correctly but most times it clutches out and throws up an error screen so I can’t use it. Do I now have to take it to a dealership?
Great video, one of the first videos for the late models for the SRX, I've seen. Just a suggestion, to continuously keep rolling. I know you want to keep the content short. But it helps the viewers for the step by step process a little better. Other than that great video, and good pointers.
I agree. I have both video equipment and skills on my to-do list. Thanks for the advice!
Perfect instructions. Thanks!
hoos3014 - you bet!
audio cuts out at 5:56
Great video, thanks for sharing
Si perfecto! Dead solid video. Thank you.
David Barnett - thanks!!
was there an issue with losing settings due to lack of 12 volts for a while? Any special precautions? Thanks for the video.
You might lose some settings. You could connect a battery tender to the battery cables before removing them from the battery.
I'm assuming a regular battery charger would work
I changed mine in a 2013 SRX Premium this morning exactly as shown and did not lose my settings. Thanks for the Video.
Excellent! But did you lose sound towards the end?
I had to cut out copyrighted background music 😩
Can do without the music anyway

Could they have made the simplest maintenance on any car more of a pain in the butt. Thanks for the video!
I know right?
What group size? I'm going to put a new battery in my 13 before winter hits
I replaced the battery and the alarm system made the horn blow for 30 seconds. Any idea why mine did that, and your did not?
Jim Barnhart - That didn’t happen to me - not sure why it would do that.
Maybe did you disconnect first positive.
Did you have or need to place a memory saver tool before removing the battery?
Domingo Lara - I didn’t use one. One tip would be to wait a few minutes after opening the hood and closing the door until the system goes back to sleep. Do not open any doors or anything else that would deplete the reserve energy sitting in the system. Remove any lamps under the hood too. Then have your new battery on hand so you can quickly switch it out.
Thanks for the info
I've replaced so many batteries but for the life of me I couldn't figure out the clips holding the top piece over the positive terminal
Yeah it’s a pretty crazy setup.
i just replaced the battery in my 2013 cadillac SRX and now when i get in the car to start it its saying my key fob isnt detected I have changed the batteries in the key fob and that doesnt work. Idk what else could be the problem
I haven’t heard of that happening before. Not sure what may have caused that! There are a couple of UA-cam videos out there with possible solutions that may be helpful.
@@Foxedup I’m not completely sure either I’m going to try to program a new key fob to it tomorrow and if that doesn’t work chances are when I changed the battery something else went out inside the car
@@cjg20252005 any success?
@@Foxedup no unfortunately so now I am not sure what is causing the issue in the car
I changed out the battery in my 2014 SRX and now it won't start and beeps at me 3 times like I've left the remote in the car, which i haven't. Also all the internal electronics flash on and off when I press the push start. Any ideas?
mightbegenius - might need to take that battery and get it tested or try to start a different car with it. If the battery is good, then double check all of the connections on the battery. Then it’s time to haul it to the dealer.
13mm and a10mm socket. How crazy on an American car. I own this car. Grrrr.
Maybe the tool lobbyists just want people to keep buying two sets of tools!!
✅ Thanks 🙏
I forgot to put that little grease on the battery. Does it matter much?
No it’s ok. Just helps prevent corrosion and maintain a better connection.
Looks easy. Except my battery sits in well that goes all the way to the top of the battery, so I can’t get that clamp at the bottom off without an extension for the wrench. so off to the hardware store.
Thnxs
You bet
My question is how to charge without the alarm sounding?
Stephanie Wells - not sure on that one - my alarm didn’t sound. But I have heard of that happening.
If you are having trouble starting your car after changing the battery please read my comment below in full (click on 'Read more')
@cepullen I made a separate comment below. If you read that comment and click on the ‘Read More’ link you will see the process I had to go through to get the car started, after I replaced the battery.
What are dielectrics? Dielectrics are materials that don't allow current to flow. They are more often called insulators because they are the exact opposite of conductors. Don't use it!!
Dielectrics insulate electrical connections and improve conductivity! Always use it!
