  • Dr. Shkandrij is a Professor Emeritus of the University of Manitoba (Canada) and a former head of the Department of German and Slavic Studies. He researches aspects of modern Ukrainian and Russian cultural history, including the avant-garde, Soviet literary politics, nationalism, imperialism and contemporary debates around decolonization. His articles have appeared in Canadian Slavonic Papers, Nationalities Papers, Nationalism and Ethnic Politics, Journal of Soviet and Post-Soviet Politics and Society, Kyiv-Mohyla Humanities Journal and other periodicals. He is the author, editor or translator of a number of books and curator of several art exhibitions.
