Royal Marines | Drone Swarms

- Drones dived, sailed and flew together in a swarm in a first for the UK’s armed forces during experimental exercises with the Royal Marines.
An array of autonomous systems operated underwater, on the water, in the sky and over land to help Royal Marines Commandos as they carried out training raids on a number of complex ‘adversary’ positions - such as missile and radar installations - in Cumbria and Dorset.
The uncrewed systems were used on missions at the Electronic Warfare Tactics facility at RAF Spadeadam on the border with Northumberland and off the south coast in training areas around Lulworth Cove and the Defence BattleLab.
In a first for UK Defence a group of six medium-heavy lift drones were operated in one autonomously controlled swarm from a single ground control station.

Glad to call you allies, love from the USA🇺🇸🇬🇧
We love to bully each other but it's just tough love 🇬🇧🤝🇺🇸
Damn. I love the changes the Marines are going through. They're really embracing that specialized commando force role and it looks epic.
its changed a lot since i left in 05
they're really embracing american equipment
@@kingsman3087 "American" equipment. A lot of the NATO/western nations look similar and wear extremely similar gear.
@@kingsman3087 theyre swiss drones???? the usa dont uuse them
@@kingsman3087 really they are embracing a smaller highly trained specialised military, the doctrine is that by having the best tier 1 and 2 soldiers on the planet we will be much more effective in the next peer to peer conflict.
Another top vid and some great pieces of kit being integrated in the RM squads. Hopefully competent cyber security systems have also been implemented alongside these drones to prevent any complications with it’s autonomy etc. whether it be intrusive/technical. Still, it is good to see some positives regarding the UK military as of late
I love you from India👍
Very envious of the Corps these days. We lost sight of our abilities in the late 70's. Delighted that we have re adopted our ethos.
When I was a bootneck in the 1960's all they gave me to play with was a long wheel base land rover and, oh yes, an SLR.
Few people realize it, but the drone is right up there with tanks air proper airplanes. It's crazy to me that essentially a toy airplane can contribute real time battle info.
Looks really cool but I still think they should have more fighting commandos. Going up against drugged up pirates isn't the same as going up against a peer enemy.
Super slick video. Kudos.
So cool
Sup Royals
Like those new vehicles.
God save the queen and our troops 🇬🇧💂🏼♀️
Great video but the subtiles were hard to read on this one. VoiceOver next time?
Very good video👍
Have these people never watched Terminator... Skynet he we come.
Is this the kit being issued to marines?
Home in tokha cut fire 🔥
Remember when u hated the drones in Call of Duty Advanced Warfare?
WELL.
#Blessings
Ok 👍
What rifles are they using.
C8 carbine/SBR
British army is the best
Je moet de Guyana's helpen, alsjeblieft
✊👋
My question is, will this ever be used or will it stand in storage somewhere while the RM keep on training? Any thoughts on Deploying to Africa anytime soon say in Mali or Mozambique?
east africa probably
@@Bullet-Tooth-Tony- don't the army have that covered
Of the Ukraine war is to go by, these drones won’t be in storage. The utility and lethality of these small drones is pretty immense.
Closing one 생존불가능ㅡout ok
🇬🇧💪
Hope they’re not made in China..
Number 1 USA.🌎🇺🇸🦅
God bless America.🇺🇸🙏🏻
You do realise the royal marines aren't American right?
God save the Queen and God bless the British lands (Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, United States) :)
These are Royal Marines mate. They are British not American.
I think you're a bit lost mate..
Ok today out ok secret ok out ok
The royal marines does not exist there is only royal defence so please do not disrespect the royal name
The two are together in a imitation outlet using drones and placed bodies as known as black bough. It is getting shut down for also using the name
WTF are you on?
When it said drone swarms did anyone else instantly think of cod advanced warfare 😂
I know I did.
The best just got better.
Three years ago my grandson was lugging his ironing board to Lympstone he now riding the bloody thing.
Thank you for your service God Bless You 🙏
It's really epic to see the royal marines evolving rapidly along with the changing times. From kits, tactics, missions, etc... And whoever created this video deserves a raise. Top notch skills right here!
The music is perfect. It is very well shot, but also informative, great pacing.
What wouldn't we have given to have had just one tenth of the kit the lads have now, compared to nearly 50 years ago. 👍😀
Serious Game Changer.
It's some up grade. Even from just 10yr ago.
Bloody flown to medics, literally a life saver. So glad our boys will have this stuff but hopefully never have to use it.
Something tells me something is brewing, I can't put my finger on it, but something is coming in the medium to long term future.
The switch from let's get rid of Tanks, to let's get 200 of the most powerful tanks in NATO was the huge give away.
@@randommadness1021 Whats your prediction for the future
Gucci for sure, but we had the LPC (leather personnel carrier), the puttee, and the AB Biscuit !
@Ace Of Spades Either that or something to do with artic and the russians when the sea root starts opening up.
It's amazing how many new applications for drones are emerging: Search-and-rescue, forensics, ordinance disposal, construction, etc. A lot of people tend to forget that the military doesn't just blow things up. Can't wait to see what you and our other allies come up with!
First of all, another high quality video from the RN. The concept of using drones and/or AI to augment humans seems absolutely correct. However, don’t forget that we still have politicians in ultimate charge - as we have seen in the Afghanistan withdrawal, they can be cowardly and weak. We have a son currently in the Corps. He trains/is trained every day. And yet, those skills may never be called upon in combat. But it’s the that what we want? To have the best prepared, the best trained, the best equipped special forces (by which I mean the usual SF plus Paras plus the Corps) to go anyway if needed. I would just add that there seems lip service to best equipped when commandos have to buy parts of their own kit because there hasn’t been enough supplied. Get rid of one general or one admiral or one air commander on the General Staff and all kit shortage to the Corps is sorted.
Does anyone now question whether the UK could ever rely upon America? The only thing that matters to whichever US Presidency is America; first, second and last. I don’t believe a word about any supposed war on terrorism. It was a war to protect American interests, be it oil or minerals. If it were really a war on terrorism, why was Pakistan not dealt with? Saudi Arabia? North Korea? Iran? Because the Afghanistan mission was about needing to show the American population a reaction to 9/11.
Use America when it suits us - just as they use us when it suits them. Stop the sales of vital UK defence contractors to American companies - they only want them because these UK businesses can be a leap ahead of their own contractors (who have a captive buyer). Don’t trust investors/shareholders to look anywhere past the share price when it rises on a takeover rumour. They are even more short term than the bloody politicians.
@@DirtyMikeandTheBoys69 more than somewhat insulting. I fear that you are one of those rather limited characters who see what they want to see and read what they would like to have been written. Before retirement. I was MD of a large organisation with strong relationships with many in the defence community. Therefore, perhaps I have rather more detailed knowledge about the realities of that sector than you. I do not write lightly; I write from knowledge. Try it sometime. And I don’t indulge in what you describe as sauce.
@@DirtyMikeandTheBoys69 as I have no interest whatsoever in the insults of trolls such as you, this is my final response to someone who clearly is need of some help. I will keep my time to enter into a debate with someone who has the intelligence to do so. I don’t lie because I don’t need to. I have no false arguments of authority. I hope and believe that my comments will enlighten those with the intelligence to understand them. And, by the way, Australia does not have a President
Well done keep safe must be hard work my grandad was a sergeant major in the British army under him a 1000 men fighting in Japan and over India ceylon Sir Lanka there a long true story to tell
Thank you love you all
I don't think my grandad has 1000s men under him sorry I may have got that wrong
Lol, I remember being told that all our kit had to be CBRN / EMP proof back in the day - so all sorts of kit had unwieldy mechanical parts, big f-off switches and (probably) lead-acid batteries. Glad to see that we're not still stuck with cold war thinking, although we have been preoccupied with Iraq and Afghanistan for far too long, whilst asymmetric threats from the East have thrived (and I don't mean Norfolk!)
Stay out of our Airspace Maureens, thats Airborne Property :-)
In Ukraine drone operators are listed as a part of an airforce, so if wanna operate a small drone u have to pass pilots health commision🤪
Any good for deflating dinghies in the Channel?
is there an opportunity to be a dog handler as a royal marine?
Derka derka run cowards
Just been watching the Army Regiments clips , fuck me these look cooler
Good video but I hope the drone tech on display is outdated by design bc otherwise the RM needs an upgrade ASAP !
I'm surprised administering blood is in combat medics scope of practice. Usually, patients either get emergency blood from a hospital or flight paramedics/doctors. 0:56
I don't know why it's in there but blood administration isn't in the MA/CMT scope. It isn't even done by paramedic trained combat medics on ops.

Okay in ok 👍
Hooooofing!
Drivel. As always, in time honoured fashion, Britain is preparing for the last war. Britain is never ready for the next war, which is why so many UK soldiers needlessly die. Good luck!
These drones are being used in the current war in Ukraine. This comment didn’t age well 😂. These are effective tools for artillery and mortar fire. Recce, etc. Get with the times
