OMG this is superb, I got a 60's device for doing this without computers, I didin't figure Lego can do it too with this precision!

I will ! The indise is very simple. Le arm is connected to a 40tooth gear which drive a 8t and the cursor. Just simple ! But the lenght of the arms, the axle and the position of the wheel have a big importance. Stay tunned to the facebook page !

That’s amazing! I never would have guessed that area could be gathered from the motion of a single liftarm. What a brilliant way to find the area of analog maps too.

a beautiful thing. For the geeks out there it's an application of Green's Theorem.

    • @michaelcottajr8557

It works based on Mathematical principles. In multidimensional calculus you learn about something called Green's Theorem which relates the area of a 2-D shape to the path which outlines it. As long as the path doesn't cross itself(think figure 8) and ends where it begins it will work.

Tu ne devrai pas plutôt utiliser une roue plus fine, afin que lorsqu'elle tourne elle le fasse bien en son "centre de la surface de contact"?
