    The little Massey still has the strongest breakout force on the backhoe bucket by a decent margin. It’s one thing that stands out to me.

    Honestly I agree with a lot of the comments and how I've always felt. JD has definitely been the leader in ergonomics in a sub compact tractor. The ability to take a backhoe on and off to use your 3 point hitch, easiest drive over deck to use, easiest loader to take on and off, honestly not awful pricing for what youre getting and at least here, an amazing knowledgeable dealer who work with you and help you find the right product. And help you understand your new machine. We love our JD 1025R. Yet the kubota dealer was closer to us. Great video though Tim. Very informative

    I looked at Kubota, Cub, Deere, Yanmar, Kioti, Bobcat, RK, Mahindra... all of the makes I could. I am smack dab in the middle of JD and Kubota country here. I settled on a 2018 GC1720, anyway. I am happy, so far. Its plenty strong and I really like the setup. My only wish is that the seat gets an improvement. Its a little tricky to flip up and around. I have a hand injury and it makes the task a little difficult. I found that wearing the seat belt really improves the ride-ability and safety of operating the tractor-as it should. I wish LS had better presence and dealer support near me (I'm more that 80 miles from an LS dealership). That was the only one I hadn't had the chance to get a look at in person-but everything I've seen tells me they are fantastic machines.
    I think you did great here, Tim. Any salesperson is going to have to roll with the punches when showing a product, and I'm sure that opinions on this seat is one that he has to answer to quite often. Its not his fault and the seat doesn't overshadow the rest of the machine. It didn't for me. I don't think you were disrespectful or rough with him at all. He seemed like a nice person. I am very happy you showcased this machine as I didn't even know there have been any updates since last generation. Be careful out there, and take care!

    Looked like a good collaboration video. That seat though. I’m pretty sure the Massey guys engineers will have a solution to that next week. Who wants a tractor that is uncomfortable. First impressions are important.

      We just bought one yesterday, that was delivered to the dealer the day before. The seat seems to be just like the one in this video. It’s actually not a bad seat in use. It’s pretty much the same as the 2018 GC1720 that I test drove. If these guys ever experienced that seat, the new one’s mounting/springs is no different.

    I have the old GC 2610 with over 400 hrs and it’s been flawless! Strong front loader! backhoe has been awesome! I have a BX1500 as well 710hrs on it it’s been a good machine but not as good as the Massey. The BX1500 had to be torn in 2 because a of a pressure relief valve in the transmission. Just purchased 20 more acres so now I need a bigger machine so I think I will go Massey.

    Nice looking tractor! They moved the loader control to where it belongs, in my opinion. I actually had to laugh when I watched a Messick's video in which Niel pointed out that the loader control was uncomfortable to use the way Deere had it set up. I ignored his advice and bought the Deere and I like where the loader control is. In fairness however, my model is a 2018 and the one in the video is older. Maybe it was uncomfortable to him, but it still makes sense to have that control on the fender. Thanks for bringing us to the show Tim.

    I love the seat on my GC1720. It is very comfortable in the normal position. Turned around in the backhoe position it is awkward to reach the controls for me though. I am short and reaching the controls isn’t as easy as it would be if the seat was adjustable forward and down. Taking the backhoe off is very easy. Folding the 3 point up to reattach the backhoe is easy as well. The bolt on hooks (non combo) are easy to attach on the loader as well as you explained. Overall I have been extremely happy with the Massey tractor.

    I am confused on your warning not to pull with a backhoe. How can pulling Christy’s small car out of a snow drift cause more damage than digging a trench, pulling on a stump or rock? Seems to me that the design of the backhoe rams are designed for pulling.

    With the electronic 3point I'm a bit confused is the arms still able to float and do a gradual grade or is it going to just drop and raise the seat I thought was a spring loaded seat to make it comfortable for the operator now its looking like it's not as nice a option as the other models on the past

    • @kdeckster
      @kdeckster 5 років тому

      I am sure the arms will still float as with most all other 3PH's. It's still a hydraulic cylinder doing the work, it's just electrically controlled. We just thought the springs were to stiff that's all. I'm sure it's an easy fix for them.

    I don’t personally own a 1 series Deere. I own a 4 series Deere. But my neighbor owns a 1023e and I use it quite a bit when I need something smaller and they use mine when they need something bigger. Anyways from the looks of this vs even the economy Deere the Deere seems to be better in every way. And the Deere is the economy model and the Massey is supposed to be the premium model. Love the videos Tim. If I were to purchase a small sub compact I would defiantly be going with the 1025r. Nothing comes close to it for me.

This will be my first time flipping a tractor. Would you have any advice for me so I can do this right? Also what I should do for what people are looking for in a tractor like this? Beer holder on the wrong side and to far back, seat looks very poor. 4x4 lever down under your leg making it hard to use.joystick lock lever is in a place where it will catch on pant leg. On the bright side, hydrostatic and engine made in Japan witch is a plus.

      The backhoe has better specs than the Deere 260B which is also better than the Kabota. The FEL also has slightly better specs than the JD 120R and the Kabota BX Loader is far behind both. I would say that the JD 1025R is by far the most operator friendly with a great seat and a dedicated Backhoe seat. You're also paying an extra 3k for the comfort. MF is very light on their spec sheet though compared to Kabota and Deere is somewhere in-between on giving specs where you can really compare. I'd say if your mowing go with the Deere. Mostly backhoe go with the MF and live in snow country and need the slightly smaller footprint and not doing serious digging or lifting go with the Kabota. And if $3k over over a few years ($43 a month) is too much don't buy the JD. My JD dealer isn't giving a discount for cash like Kabota or MF.

      @@TractorTimewithTim A few new tractor, at the show even, are up well in the 30's HP and NO DPF . How, you ask? Its because when you have a small displacement, and rev it up to get your HP, you can have low PPM of Carbon/Nitrogen oxides with the ULSD. The loss comes in Torque. This is why JD can STILL put the 25 hp engine from your 1025R into the new heavy 3025D tractor and make it work.. Torque!

    • @Formulabruce

      "DEF" is Diesel Exhaust fluid" is basically "Piss" and water, which reduces Oxides of Nitrogen in Higher HP Diesels. Its mostly for tier 4 above 50 HP. The compact tractors under that that have one, use a DPF ( Diesel Particulate dry Filter).

    • @kdeckster
      @kdeckster 5 років тому

      DEF....DPF....whatever. Lets just say no "Emissions Controls" below 25 HP rather than split hairs about which system is actually used.

    Can't add a backhoe later = Huge negative
    Also means the backhoe isn't easily removable to switch to a box blade or other 3 point attachment when finished using the backhoe. Branson offers more HP with a dedicated backhoe subframe for the same dollars. Takes me 8 minutes to install my backhoe after removing the box blade. Takes me 4 minutes to remove the backhoe to put on the box blade.

    you should see if the main makers have the balls to do a side by side comparison test of their tractors. Do load tests, so on on all of those that compete... make sure they're the same class and horse power as you can. frankly I don't think any of the makers would have the balls to do that, but who knows until you ask?

    Same poor designed rad space so close to fan. 4 rubber mounts let engine flex towards rad and forward .forward is no problem ,But if you bump into something with front blower,the engine will flex into radiator.I have had to replace 2 rads. 1000$ each .l welded 1”x1” x1” steel blocks in rear of engine mounts to keep motor from pivoting towards rad.when l bought my last rad, l spoke to another guy , who was on his 3rd rad too.He raised --- l and dealer did a similar fix.
