That silk skirt is stunning!
Dark brown spots on the leaves are usually caused by root rot. Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering. Also, just a tip: Fiddle Leaf Figs hate being moved around. You can find a spot in your place where it'll get the most sunlight (but not direct) and keep it there. If they're moved around too much they drop their leaves.

I always use those plastic flowerpots in the pots, so that there's some drainage to the plant (unless you've got a pot with a draining hole and a plate under it). I don't know much about plants, but I do know drainage is key.
hallo from the gartner here 🤗 no direct sunlight for the fiddle leaf fig but in a bright room. They’re not temperamental they’re just sensitive babies moving them around will only stress them out. there should always be drainage in your pots or the roots will rot. a general rule if you can't figure out how much to water a plant; if the first 3 cm of soil is dry water it. In the summer months Apr-Sep use fertilizer (ofc always organic) repot them when you get them and then every other year into bigger pots. When you repot cut the roots a little to stimulate new growth.

In case of root rot, thr roten ones would just fall of when you touch it, if not, they're fine. One thing I do with all my plants, especially the big ones that not so easy to discard the extra water, I leave a layer of leca balls at the bottom of the pot, so that if there's too much water, the soil is not sitting in it. And the water can later be re-used, so that I have more time between watering. Our fiddle leave was doing super fine and unfuzzy since last May, I just let it dry out and then water it again, even though the internet says to keep it moist. The thing is that you have a awesome fiddlely, it has grown its whole life in prime condition (the nursery), it is probably shocked leaving the green house for the first time. Honestly, I don't expect myself to grow plants better than the professionals, nor can I provide the nursery condition for the plants, so that I'm also not feeling guilty if it is not doing as well in my household. 😅
I put clay clumps at the bottom of any pot (which needs a drainage hole) when I repot my plants. As far as I know ficus do not like the soil to be too moist, so good drainage is key. A glazed pot will also keep more moisture in than a terracotta pot, something to keep in mind 🤓

I think someone else my have mentioned already but allergies are generally much worse for people in NYC (those without allergies usually may experience them here) because almost all of the publicly-planted trees are male. There was a NY Mag article several years ago (and probably many others). So you are not alone in that!
Have you ever done a video on how to move to New York? / get apartment, it’s a dream but I have no clue on how visas work etc❤

you should call your dentist now and have them order the tray you lost. there usually a 1-2 weeks to prepare and ship them so you can jump right it when you back in the uk

is the fig getting too much sun? I recently inherited one from a friend who moved and i was much happier when i moved it out of direct light!
If the leaves have black spots, it’s usually root rot from over watering. Clean the roots gently and repot with new soil and hopefully you can save it. Keep it by the window, water it thoroughly to drench the roots with about 1-2L (in a pot with good drainage in the bath or shower) - do that no more than once every two weeks in winter, and once a week in a dry summer. They like humidity, so as long as it’s bright you could also pop it in the bathroom every so often.
Also, stick your finger into the soil, up to your knuckle. If it’s damp, don’t water it. Lean toward under watering with this plant, rather than over watering. Fiddle leaf figs are fussy but so worth it. 🪴 xx
Also, if the leaves are soft, also suggests over watering. Take the black leaves off. I had a monstera like this straight from the plant nursery, I had to dry it out first and it’s ended up thriving.

Your hayfeaver might have fleared up again, because New York startet to plant just male trees of one sort that pollinate much stronger then female trees. But the female ones leave a residue on the streets which made more work cleaning up….
So a lot of people have more hayfeaver problems there at the moment, even made the German news.

Try getting - Sinol all natural nasal spray, good for allergy and sinus. It always saves me on hey fever season.

Hey Lizzy! Love your informative videos! Recently I was thinking of the idea to style a cropped oversized sweatshirt in a chic way - I was thinking of spliut leggings plus heels? Overall, I think Sweatshirt just as white/ black t-shirt could be elevated for the chic look and could look really cool, and not homey/gym vibes. However, I havent found any good videos on it, maybe an idea for the video for you?:)) It is such a comfy piece, would be great to find ways to wear it in a more chic way! I'd gift that plant to a local friend, keep the pot and put a large good looking artificial plant into it. Idk a home plant that can survive a month of neglect other than a cactus))
