What a intelligent, witty, talented man Peter Ustinov was.. Absolutely unique.
.Whenever he was on these any of these shows, regardless of the company,he usually shined the brightest..
Truly a Treasure to the world, and one who is greatly missed, more so as each year passes...
I really loved him!
I was do sad when he died.
What a wonderful human being he was!
"I share this opinion with myself." Brilliant and hilarious!
More Ustinov please.
Dick's joke is awesome - and so is Ustinov's laugh!
Some unknown young student was once asked who he would love to interview. Lo and behold it was this lad. Why, yoy might well ask?Because he's so interesting to hear, speaks so well and so intelligently. How right he was!
That infectious laugh at 4:11.
We all live in undemocratic democracies.......they are democratic until they win the election! We have never replaced the likes of Peter Ustinov and Cavett is the Chat Show King!
The people who make the best slaves are those who believe they live in a democracy.
I've Liked Peter!
As opposed to Dick?
Ustinov was a visionary and a realist!!!!!spot on about the politics!!!!!
"All that is needed is money and a candidate who can be coached to look sincere. Political principles and plans for specific action have come to lose most of their importance. The personality of the candidate, the way he is projected by the advertising experts, are the things that really matter." - Aldous Huxley

The Dick Cavett show- can you please upload interview clips of the late, great Robert Shaw. He was such an interesting and engaging guest appearing on the show at least 5 times.
E.g:
Woody Allen/Robert Shaw/Beverly Sills/Jacqueline Wexler (29 Dec. 1969)
Thanks in advance.
brilliant
Peter and Dick. They're the one and the same you know.
Also, yum.
Spartacus what a great great actor 👍
His english is sooooo sooo addicted..Perfect for shadowig..
Peter gives the other guest's 'joke' the response it deserves @2:34.
He wasn't at all impressed, was he? lol
I just realised that there is an uncanny resemblance between Peter Ustinov and Jamie Oliver.
Everybody thinks He was English... He was that good !x
Where is Wendy/Walter Carlos???
I live in South Wales, does Dick ever visit? Does he still have family here in Wales in wonder!
Sir Hiss!
No matter who is in office, the same crap happens.
Not only a great wit, but a deep thinker and astute observer was Sir Peter.
He was also poor prince John lol
He was a genius, spoke several languages and was a phenomenal actor.
Is anyone reminded of Christopher Hitchens by Peter's voice and cadence?
Unfortunately, yes. I'm also reminded of Hitchens' late conversion to rightwing yahooery.
@@tarnopol That wasn't really the question. In answer to the actual question, no, but I think that's because of long exposure to British men of his education - it's a received pronunciation that's common to various backgrounds.
@@LockhartSpain You know I totally misread this and I don't know why. When I saw "Peter," I thought "Peter Hitchens" not "Peter Ustinov" who was far from a rightwinger--no idea why I would have done so! The video is of Ustinov, who I adore. So my comment was even less coherent or relevant that you suspected. :)
@@tarnopol We should both probably stop watching these things so late at night! ;)
No
I have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were part of the main cast? These are rare much like all of the other Dick Cavett interviews
The actions of government are determined by people who cannot be named. Our Orwellian future is now.
If I named them you'd say there's just another puppet master right?
George Orwell was a self-proclaimed socialist. Just putting that out there for right-wingers who miss the point of Orwell or lie about how the "left has changed and now the left are fascists" which makes absolutely no sense since fascism is characteristic by strong authoritarian nationalism and racism.
@@weewoahhh You could say the same about the far right aswell
@@weewoahhh trump lost
I commented when he and Alistair Cooke died 2 days apart that the world's collective IQ dropped by 2 points
That’s brilliant.
We have found it does matter who is president now

Agree to disagree.
This must mean you don’t vote. Correct?
Since there is no more Washington Redskins, my idea for the football team name is

As a finn i would like to think that we are so good and smart that our country is in much better shape than our large neighbor. But on the other hand, most succesful nations are all small. Nordic countries and norway as smallest is wealthiest, benelux countries and smallest luxembourg as best of them. Monaco does better than france, andorra better than spain, switzerland better than germany. Caribbean islands do better than african nations, hongkong does better than china. Not only economically but in all levels of society. So maybe sir peter has a point here.
Undoubtedly
As a swede I would be careful about praising our countries though, while we are definitely way ahead some countries like the US, we are still of the same general flavour and face the same political and social problems the rest of the world is facing with increased commercialisation of every aspect of life, cutting the welfare state and a political scene which is alienating people and favouring larger corporations.
And homogenous....very easy
That us Welsh.

Sounds like the Hubert Humphrey for president in 1968 campaign. Nixon's 1968 campaign largely avoided Hollywood celebrities.

Actor's should keep politics to themselves!
Why
He was more than an actor. Much more.
Why ? Aren’t they people ?
Ustinov was a lot more than an actor!
Viking Adventurer -- No more so than you should.
It must be a "Welsh thing." I too was asked the same question by US Immigration on the way to geting my 'Green Card.' The official asked: "do you intend to overthrow the state by force or violence?" To which I replied, with more honesty than tact :"Why not? That's how it started. This country is predicated on terrorism, genocide and slavery." Sadly, that was the end of my interview. Some civil servants are just so sensitive.
Yeah. That never happened.
@@arthurfonzarelli9331 Did actually. I know, I was there. You weren't.
