What a intelligent, witty, talented man Peter Ustinov was.. Absolutely unique.
.Whenever he was on these any of these shows, regardless of the company,he usually shined the brightest..
Truly a Treasure to the world, and one who is greatly missed, more so as each year passes...

Some unknown young student was once asked who he would love to interview. Lo and behold it was this lad. Why, yoy might well ask?Because he's so interesting to hear, speaks so well and so intelligently. How right he was!

"All that is needed is money and a candidate who can be coached to look sincere. Political principles and plans for specific action have come to lose most of their importance. The personality of the candidate, the way he is projected by the advertising experts, are the things that really matter." - Aldous Huxley

The Dick Cavett show- can you please upload interview clips of the late, great Robert Shaw. He was such an interesting and engaging guest appearing on the show at least 5 times.
    E.g:
    Woody Allen/Robert Shaw/Beverly Sills/Jacqueline Wexler (29 Dec. 1969)
    Thanks in advance.

@@tarnopol That wasn't really the question. In answer to the actual question, no, but I think that's because of long exposure to British men of his education - it's a received pronunciation that's common to various backgrounds.

@@LockhartSpain You know I totally misread this and I don't know why. When I saw "Peter," I thought "Peter Hitchens" not "Peter Ustinov" who was far from a rightwinger--no idea why I would have done so! The video is of Ustinov, who I adore. So my comment was even less coherent or relevant that you suspected. :)

I have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were part of the main cast? These are rare much like all of the other Dick Cavett interviews

George Orwell was a self-proclaimed socialist. Just putting that out there for right-wingers who miss the point of Orwell or lie about how the "left has changed and now the left are fascists" which makes absolutely no sense since fascism is characteristic by strong authoritarian nationalism and racism.

As a finn i would like to think that we are so good and smart that our country is in much better shape than our large neighbor. But on the other hand, most succesful nations are all small. Nordic countries and norway as smallest is wealthiest, benelux countries and smallest luxembourg as best of them. Monaco does better than france, andorra better than spain, switzerland better than germany. Caribbean islands do better than african nations, hongkong does better than china. Not only economically but in all levels of society. So maybe sir peter has a point here.

As a swede I would be careful about praising our countries though, while we are definitely way ahead some countries like the US, we are still of the same general flavour and face the same political and social problems the rest of the world is facing with increased commercialisation of every aspect of life, cutting the welfare state and a political scene which is alienating people and favouring larger corporations.

It must be a "Welsh thing." I too was asked the same question by US Immigration on the way to geting my 'Green Card.' The official asked: "do you intend to overthrow the state by force or violence?" To which I replied, with more honesty than tact :"Why not? That's how it started. This country is predicated on terrorism, genocide and slavery." Sadly, that was the end of my interview. Some civil servants are just so sensitive.
