Very interesting, thank you very much. I have one question however: between filming and projection, how did the Lumiere brothers develop their film? I've always read they could do it all with this magic box: film, develop and project
The camera functioned in three ways. 1.) Camera 2.) Projector 3.) Printer Once the film had been exposed thru the camera the film would be developed and the resulting negative would be placed into a taller film box that had two spools. Upper spool for exposed negative and lower spool for new unexposed film. The lens would be removed and a light placed in front of the camera. The crank would draw down both films together and this would create a positive print from the negative print for projection once developed. When projecting the positive film a longer focal length lens would replace the camera lens.
