What effect does fertilizer application have on beans ?
Good question. My understanding is that beans make their own nitrates so they can grow in poor soil. I have also read that most of the nitrates are used in the making of beans. So, probably tilling the plant carcasses into the soil may help enrich the soil after growing. At least, that is my best answer. Never had problems growing beans, but as for spacing, I always get greedy and get lower yields because I tend to give them too little space. This makes them compete for what few resources they need from the soil, including water.

i didn't use any fertilizer. i only used chicken manure on those beans
