Amateurs oftenly use between 12-16 Oz gloves and there isn't a specific number before boxers turn pro, it can be between 5-20 fights. Boxers when they turn pro they can still use 12 Oz gloves I think but 14-16 is more common
Fight gloved are usually 10oz, but the amateur fight loves are more padded and made of foam. Professional 10oz gloves for fights are smaller and often different brands are punchers gloves etc. Sparring gloves are bigger and more padded often 16 to 18 oz.

A lot of fighters will enter the Olympics and fight there, so will stop boxing considering that the peak of their goal and some will turn pro. Really depends but there not really a set ‘rule’ or way to do it. I’ve heard of some places, states that require at least 5 amateur fights before being able to get a license but I’m not sure if that’s just a rumour or athletic commissions covering their asses incase someone gets hurt.
