    Is it fair to compare change data capture with 2 phase commits? As I understand, in change data capture, you can have stale reads, but in 2 phase commits, you cannot. Am I missing something?

      You're correct, but the positive of CDC is that you don't have to do a two phase commit lol
      It's strong consistency vs eventual consistency (barring someone literally smashing your server, which is always possible)
