I'm so glad you have someone in your life who is so thoughtful and --- not in a bad way --- "old shoe." Which is my expression for someone who you just feel at home with. Of course, all the other stuff (romance, fun, adventure, etc.) is important, but I really think "old shoe" HAS to be there to really have staying power. You don't feel like you have to change in order to be in the relationship.
My hubs and I actually went to high school together, didn't date, but were friends. 11 years after graduation we got together and within 2 1/2 weeks we were engaged, been married for about 35 years.
