They were gonna leave their spouses after the show ended cuz Erica said once smallville was over she was gonna spend alot of time in los Angeles and she said she will do everything and anything she can there in la and then she paused and said to get a fresh new look out of life. So it seemed that she and Tom were gonna leave their partners and start new life with each other in la where Tom lives but then Erica later on had a change of heart and went back to her husband and broke toms heart. This is why tom and Erica don't keep in touch and why he never talks about Erica. She broke his heart. She shattered him. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. So sad but true story

I was thinking about Lois' words in Bride where she says that she thought "just for a minute, that somebody needed me" and then i remembered this scene and couldn't help but think how beautiful it is that the writer's kinda brought it full circle, finally giving Lois what she had always wanted - to be needed and not be left behind. And it's kinda hugely more impactful that the person who fulfills this desire of Lois is Clark... just thought i'd share my thoughts :)
The way he turns to hide his true feelings then pretends he's happy about her new position. I think after Lana hss afraid to ask or hope for too much. The saddest/ best part is when she says I'd stay for you.
This scene is so authentic. Clark and Lois are both at a crossroads and must make major life decisions, Clark's being more major of course! Even though both know that they are totally right for each other, they also know that sometimes love isn't enough.
I swear Clark is such an alien...his selflessness is frustrating at times ... thank god for Lois' assertiveness BC if it was up to Clark she would probably be with Batman....men smh
A tough and sad scene that is amazing for its intensity in a so called superhero show!! Tom and Erica both knew their characters so well and brought their best acting skills to this scene. Two people in love that have all these other things going on to make the water murky. So glad Clark saved Lois from Zod, then the kiss and suddenly Lois understood what was going on!!
Clark: Well Lois your.. your career is so important to you what would make you stay? Lois: For you...I would stay for you. Clark as important as my career is to me you are more important. I would give up Africa to be with you. But only if we stop keeping secrets from each other Clark: Lois I don't know what you're talking about. I was like c'mon. Clark really is protecting Lois so hard .But it leaves him not being able to connect with Lois's love for him. That's how I lost several girlfriends this way .it is so hard to get back to normal .
I think him telling her his secret coorelates really well with this scene and why he didn't tell her right then and there. He was faced with losing her forever. He didn't want to tell her and hurt her more. But it did hurt him more. And it would of been the biggest regret he had while living on another planet. So cudos to the writer for the reveal in ISIS.

I love that they established the difference between clark's secret with lois and clark's secret with everyone else. He's never cared about not taking his secret away from anyone.. but if lois finds out (which she did) He won't take that away from her.

For a minute there when Lois left it reminded me of the way Lana left Clark when he wasn't honest with her but I guess I was wrong. We all know that the writers probably repeated this similar scene to show that Clark learned from his mistakes and corrected it by end of episode by kissing Lois and revealing to her he is the blur.
The reason Clark didn't tell her was because he was being exiled and going off with the kandorians. He told oliver he wouldn't hurt her more by telling her then ripping it away from her like that.

The part at the end where she tries to smile and says "I should go now." that was me yesterday. You're dying, trying not to care at all, trying to act normal and run out before I started crying. Okay so Chark pours out his heart tells her she's the one, he loves her. Then she says Perry White offered me a job at the foreign desk. What's Clark supposed to think, that she loves him back or that she has another opportunity to go someplace else and do something more important. It's like you say I love you to someone and they say I'm hungry I'm going to go make a sandwich. So he lets her go. If she really wanted to stay with him she wouldn't even have mentioned the job abroad but really I think she's just conflicted about her priorities. If you want to be with someone you don't point out an opportunity to leave them as a viable option not if you don't want to send mixed signals. All she had to do was smile tell him the truth but the show runs on drama so I guess this was in the minds of some of the writers necessary to hype the drama. We can call this one star crossed lovers out of alignment
Kind of think she rectified that with the whole “you are more important than everything and I’d give up Africa to be with you” thing. @SmallvilleFanatic600 There have been many different ways to tell the mythos of Lois and Clark. Smallville has followed its own pattern and hopefully that will continue. Besides the mind-wipe thing has been overdone and the producers should know better by now. I agree that the track record sucks but finales have sucked for a while until this one so perhaps the pattern has finally changed for good.
I didn't like how Lois was snooping around Clark's things and how she was written to have a similar reaction here as Lana did many times to Clark. I mean I guess the reaction is ok because it's how a real person would react, but they should have left out the snooping part. If I ever caught someone snooping around my stuff, I would instantly lose all my trust in them and demand to know what the hell they were doing. Anyway, I think Clark did the right thing by not telling Lois here because at this point he was certain the Book of Rao, which he was planning on using, would permanently take him to New Krypton or wherever all the Kandorians and Clark would be taken to. So telling Lois his secret only for him to disappear and never be seen again would be very cruel just like he told Oliver. I think this entire scenario should've been avoided because it's unneeded. Or they should have changed it somewhat to be more constructive. It does show that they have their troubles just like any couple, but the way it was handled and the resolution could've been better. It was kind of awkward how Lois was about to leave here, but then in Lazarus she said she would stay and ended up leaving anyway. It's like they didn't know how to transition the scenes and it made Lois look very indecisive. It felt especially weird after she witnessed Clark's secret in Lazarus and seemed happy about it but left anyway rather than talking to him. Weird because Lois doesn't usually run away from challenges and also weird because she was finally getting what she always wanted but still running away from it.
wtcvidman Lois left to Africa because she didn't want to be used as a weakness to destroy Clark. Remember when lex tied to the cross and told her that her death will destroy Clark and he will no longer be the hero he should be..so she felt if she isn't in the way no one will use her against him. Plus Lois didn't snoop around his things like Lana did..she understood he was keeping things from her..she was putting the pieces together that he himself was the blur but she wanted to hear it from him to confirm everything. Then she kissed him and it confirmed everything.
Lois gets herself in danger regardless if Clark would have told her or not. As a matter of fact she kept getting into trouble even after he did tell her. The snooping part is pretty much Lana 2.0. Even though she's a reporter, there has to be a line drawn where she would not snoop when it comes to friendship or someone she truly cares about. We saw how badly things ended up when Chloe oversnooped on Clark & his private stuff. Sure Clark snooped on Lana before when she & Lex were investigating the Brainiac ship, but that's because she & Lex were drowning in danger and it was the only way he could think of to track the ship down. And plus he and Lana had just broken up and he wasn't looking to start anything with her like Lois & Clark were getting together at this time. Reporter or not, Lois had no excuse to snoop into his things. If Clark caught her in the act he would've been furious and rightfully so. Clark is also a reporter but he doesn't go through her things, especially when he's trying to start a relationship with her. This episode showed that Lois did not trust Clark while he did trust her. And the reason she didn't trust him was because of Zod acting as the Blur, which she let herself get fooled by. Remember that Clark as the Blur already told her in a previous episode that he would no longer be contacting her & that if someone contacted her as the Blur that it would not be the real Blur, but Lois did not listen which is why Zod was able to use her in this episode.
I know what you mean. She definitely didn't go through the ends that Lana did but I still didn't like how she violated Clark's privacy in an attempt to relieve herself of her doubts. It reminded me of what Lana did in Promise to confirm her suspicions of Clark even though Lana went a bit further in her methods. One problem is that Lois let herself be used against Clark because Clark specifically told her the final time he called her as the Blur a few episodes before this one that it was the final time he would ever contact her and that if she got any future calls from someone taking on the Blur moniker, that it will not be him and not to believe the caller. So I guess her leaving to Africa was also a result of realizing that even with that warning, Zod was able to use her against the Blur/Clark.
wtcvidman I understand what you mean and you're right but Clark lol has also investigated Lois before when he had Lois LoJack her keychain in 9x16 when he suspected she was hiding something from him. Its a normal instinct to search your boyfriend/girlfriend if you feel his hiding something only problem is Lana went too far in trying to find out clarks secret. Plus Lois is searching with full trust in Clark saying "how would a guy who kept a journal in high school ever hurt anyone" but then she sees the book and gets unnerved just like anyone would.
This is part of why I despised the way the writers wrote Clark. Nothing he does redeems the fact that he's a pathological liar to everyone, even those who are most important to him. He would have had so many invaluable allies if he had just been honest with them. Lex, Lana, Chloe, Pete... All of them would have backed Clark to the ends of the earth if he had trusted them with the truth.
Bro what are you talking about Clark only Lied when the situation was out of his control and Here this scene takes place in the finale of season 9 where Clark selflessly decided to sacrifice his life on earth to travel to live on a new plane of existance with kandorians to save The Earth so he is leaving Lois for good so Clark didn't want to tell Lois that he is the Blur just to take it away from her he wanted Lois to Live a happy life without any regrets when he is gone. I would say Clark is the Most selfless character in Smallville and he doesn't have to redeem himself and he is not a pathological Liar, I think you have not watched Smallville their were dier Consequences when ever Clark revealed his secret to some one for Example kayla died, Alicia died, Jonathan died, Pete got beat up and forced to Leave town, Lana died in Reconing, Jimmy died, Chole almost died, etc and I can state impossible situations Clark was put in where he had to keep his secret.
It was Clark’s secret and his alone. No one has the right to know if he didn’t want to. If they consider him as a friend then they should’ve trusted him. But everyone kept snooping and pushing and trapping him to find out. Even Lois was out of line( even if she just did that to prove Clark is a good guy) here but she learned the hard way at the end of the episode when she almost got herself killed.

He hung Jimmy out to dry because all Clark cared about was keeping his secret. And Clark didn't show enough emotion when Jimmy died. He was an alien from another planet what gives him the right to decide what's right for our planet it was our planet not his. His own race destroyed his planet. We didn't need some alien to decide what was best for ours. Clark should have left with the others to another planet let him rule there.

Once again, Clark really wanted to tell Lois his secret and his words about sharing his life with her were true. Not to mention how oliver and her split when oliver told her. The huge difference between the wanting to tell both lana and lois was that when he wanted to tell lana it was ALWAYS DESPERATE. He wanted to keep her. Him telling lois was never desperate, he just loved her. There was no drama or fear of losing lois when he told her. But to each their own. I think the show pretty much concluded to the viewer the huge differences and some just refuse to see it.

But the meteor shower had killed her parents and Clark was ashamed of himself even though there wasn’t his fault (the same thing with Lana, she felt guilty before her parents for surviving even though there wasn’t her fault). Of course, it was much harder to tell her than to Lois. Also when Clark finally told her the truth, she died saving his secret. That’s why he decided not to tell her anymore because he didn’t want to put her in danger. Pay attention Clark never told Lana his secret even being ‘red’ because he wanted to protect her.

I grew up loving Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane, separately and as a couple but until this show, I was never let down or disappointed in them. Boy, Smallville includes a moment usually more than one that disappointed and it was usually in/by Clark most often; he should have told Lois before she figured it out herself and patiently hoped that one day he would tell her. It’s sad that such great actors got such bad writers.
I think that it was done that way on purpose. When Lana found out she pressured Clark into telling her before he was ready;and if memory serves she broke up with him not long after he finally told her. This was meant to show a parallel between the two relationships, you're only shown the same thing twice in movies or shows when they want you to see the difference between the two. Lois has suspected Clark was the Blur for a while, and all this whit Zodd impersonating the Blur made her have her doubts. But after he kissed her in the alley she knew for sure; and she waited for him to tell her on his own terms. I think another reason behind it was Clark was always so afraid of rejection by those he cared about after he told them (Case and point Lana) by this point in the series Lois is the love of his life (even if he doesn't realize it yet) and he's afraid of her walking away. He's also afraid of the danger he'd be putting her in just by being in a relationship, kryptonite may weaken him; but anyone hurting Lois would fully break him, hence the "Injustice" storyline.
@@hollandfray4521 at first Lana was too curious and inpatient due to her mental issues (after seeing her parents’ cruel death being a 3-year-old kid). At the end of 'Visage', she said to Clark she didn't care if he had any secrets. And kept her word until season 3 when he left all his beloved ones. After that she started asking him to tell her the true again because she didn't want such situation to repeat. And Lana was right. proof is 'Hypnotic' (especially its ending). And in 'Reckoning', she didn't leave him. She said she needed a break (not break-up). Clark had stopped not only sleeping with her after regaining his powers again, he couldn't even kiss her like before (in 'Fanatic' when they were kissing, Lana accidently hit her head, and her thought it was his fault). If he at least explained her the reason why he was acting like that, she would understand him (don't forget the beginning of 'Hypnotic' when Clark refused again to sleep with her, she decided not to pressure him but wait until he was ready). When Clark dated Lois, he had already been trained by Jor-El, that's why he could sleep with her and they didn't have such problems as Clana had in season 5. Also at the end of season 9, when there was a threat to Clois’ relationship Lois demanded Clark to tell her the truth too.

I think him telling her his secret coorelates really well with this scene and why he didn't tell her right then and there. He was faced with losing her forever. He didn't want to tell her and hurt her more. But it did hurt him more. And it would of been the biggest regret he had while living on another planet. So cudos to the writer for the reveal in ISIS.

I love that they established the difference between clark's secret with lois and clark's secret with everyone else. He's never cared about not taking his secret away from anyone.. but if lois finds out (which she did) He won't take that away from her.

For a minute there when Lois left it reminded me of the way Lana left Clark when he wasn't honest with her but I guess I was wrong. We all know that the writers probably repeated this similar scene to show that Clark learned from his mistakes and corrected it by end of episode by kissing Lois and revealing to her he is the blur.

The part at the end where she tries to smile and says "I should go now." that was me yesterday. You're dying, trying not to care at all, trying to act normal and run out before I started crying. No hug for him though n I I even respond when he said something. You obviously don't care and never will so save it. How can I be so stupid? This and the scene in Bride where she's talking to Oliver I feel it. Okay so Chark pours out his heart tells her she's the one, he loves her. Then she says Perry White offered me a job at the foreign desk. What's Clark supposed to think, that she loves him back or that she has another opportunity to go someplace else and do something more important.
It's like you say I love you to someone and they say I'm hungry I'm going to go make a sandwich. So he lets her go. If she really wanted to stay with him she wouldn't even have mentioned the job abroad but really I think she's just conflicted about her priorities. If you want to be with someone you don't point out an opportunity to leave them as a viable option not if you don't want to send mixed signals. All she had to do was smile tell him the truth but the show runs on drama so I guess this was in the minds of some of the writers necessary to hype the drama.

Kind of think she rectified that with the whole “you are more important than everything and I’d give up Africa to be with you” thing. The reason she said that about the job is because he was hiding the truth from her. Although, I don’t like how the writers reverted to the whole tell me your secret... but it is what it is.

@SmallvilleFanatic600 There have been many different ways to tell the mythos of Lois and Clark. Smallville has followed its own pattern and hopefully that will continue. Besides the mind-wipe thing has been overdone and the producers should know better by now. I agree that the track record sucks but finales have sucked for a while until this one so perhaps the pattern has finally changed for good.

I didn't like how Lois was snooping around Clark's things and how she was written to have a similar reaction here as Lana did many times to Clark. I mean I guess the reaction is ok because it's how a real person would react, but they should have left out the snooping part. If I ever caught someone snooping around my stuff, I would instantly lose all my trust in them and demand to know what the hell they were doing.
Anyway, I think Clark did the right thing by not telling Lois here because at this point he was certain the Book of Rao, which he was planning on using, would permanently take him to New Krypton or wherever all the Kandorians and Clark would be taken to. So telling Lois his secret only for him to disappear and never be seen again would be very cruel just like he told Oliver. I think this entire scenario should've been avoided because it's unneeded. Or they should have changed it somewhat to be more constructive. It does show that they have their troubles just like any couple, but the way it was handled and the resolution could've been better. It was kind of awkward how Lois was about to leave here, but then in Lazarus she said she would stay and ended up leaving anyway. It's like they didn't know how to transition the scenes and it made Lois look very indecisive. It felt especially weird after she witnessed Clark's secret in Lazarus and seemed happy about it but left anyway rather than talking to him. Weird because Lois doesn't usually run away from challenges and also weird because she was finally getting what she always wanted but still running away from it.

Remember when lex tied to the cross and told her that her death will destroy Clark and he will no longer be the hero he should be..so she felt if she isn't in the way no one will use her against him. Plus Lois didn't snoop around his things like Lana did..she understood he was keeping things from her..she was putting the pieces together that he himself was the blur but she wanted to hear it from him to confirm everything. Then she kissed him and it confirmed everything.
Lois gets herself in danger regardless if Clark would have told her or not. As a matter of fact she kept getting into trouble even after he did tell her. The snooping part is pretty much Lana 2.0. Even though she's a reporter, there has to be a line drawn where she would not snoop when it comes to friendship or someone she truly cares about. We saw how badly things ended up when Chloe oversnooped on Clark & his private stuff. Sure Clark snooped on Lana before when she & Lex were investigating the Brainiac ship, but that's because she & Lex were drowning in danger and it was the only way he could think of to track the ship down. And plus he and Lana had just broken up and he wasn't looking to start anything with her like Lois & Clark were getting together at this time. Reporter or not, Lois had no excuse to snoop into his things. If Clark caught her in the act he would've been furious and rightfully so. Clark is also a reporter but he doesn't go through her things, especially when he's trying to start a relationship with her.
This episode showed that Lois did not trust Clark while he did trust her. And the reason she didn't trust him was because of Zod acting as the Blur, which she let herself get fooled by. Remember that Clark as the Blur already told her in a previous episode that he would no longer be contacting her & that if someone contacted her as the Blur that it would not be the real Blur, but Lois did not listen which is why Zod was able to use her in this episode.
I know what you mean. She definitely didn't go through the ends that Lana did but I still didn't like how she violated Clark's privacy in an attempt to relieve herself of her doubts. It reminded me of what Lana did in Promise to confirm her suspicions of Clark even though Lana went a bit further in her methods.
One problem is that Lois let herself be used against Clark because Clark specifically told her the final time he called her as the Blur a few episodes before this one that it was the final time he would ever contact her and that if she got any future calls from someone taking on the Blur moniker, that it will not be him and not to believe the caller. So I guess her leaving to Africa was also a result of realizing that even with that warning, Zod was able to use her against the Blur/Clark.
wtcvidman I understand what you mean and you're right but Clark lol has also investigated Lois before when he had Lois LoJack her keychain in 9x16 when he suspected she was hiding something from him. Its a normal instinct to search your boyfriend/girlfriend if you feel his hiding something only problem is Lana went too far in trying to find out clarks secret. Plus Lois is searching with full trust in Clark saying "how would a guy who kept a journal in high school ever hurt anyone" but then she sees the book and gets unnerved just like anyone would.

This is part of why I despised the way the writers wrote Clark. Nothing he does redeems the fact that he's a pathological liar to everyone, even those who are most important to him.
He would have had so many invaluable allies if he had just been honest with them. Lex, Lana, Chloe, Pete... All of them would have backed Clark to the ends of the earth if he had trusted them with the truth.
Bro what are you talking about Clark only Lied when the situation was out of his control and Here this scene takes place in the finale of season 9 where Clark selflessly decided to sacrifice his life on earth to travel to live on a new plane of existance with kandorians to save The Earth so he is leaving Lois for good so Clark didn't want to tell Lois that he is the Blur just to take it away from her he wanted Lois to Live a happy life without any regrets when he is gone. I would say Clark is the Most selfless character in Smallville and he doesn't have to redeem himself and he is not a pathological Liar, I think you have not watched Smallville their were dier Consequences when ever Clark revealed his secret to some one for Example kayla died, Alicia died, Jonathan died, Pete got beat up and forced to Leave town, Lana died in Reconing, Jimmy died, Chole almost died, etc and I can state impossible situations Clark was put in where he had to keep his secret.
It was Clark’s secret and his alone. No one has the right to know if he didn’t want to. If they consider him as a friend then they should’ve trusted him. But everyone kept snooping and pushing and trapping him to find out. Even Lois was out of line( even if she just did that to prove Clark is a good guy) here but she learned the hard way at the end of the episode when she almost got herself killed.

He hung Jimmy out to dry because all Clark cared about was keeping his secret. And Clark didn't show enough emotion when Jimmy died. He just made it about himself when he said he put humanity on a pedestal. Who the hell was he. He was an alien from another planet what gives him the right to decide what's right for our planet it was our planet not his. His own race destroyed his planet. We didn't need some alien to decide what was best for ours. Clark should have left with the others to another planet let him rule there.

That's why he repeated the line, and kissed her at the end. When he told Lana, he was desperate to keep her from marrying Lex. That episode still pisses me off! lol "Promise" is the title.
Clark never told his secret anyone because he was ready. Even Lois knew the truth from him because he was jealous of her to the Blur (she liked teasing him telling about her connection with the Blur).

In season 9 he was gonna tell her the truth being jealous to the Blur. _’Talking to her as the Blur, I’ve seen a different side of her. And it’s made me fall deeper, and, it’s just not a side she’s decided to share with Clark Kent.’_ _’I guess with him gone, the question is... am I enough?’_ But Lois didn’t let the Blur to tell who he is because it would be dangerous.
Then in ‘Homecoming’, Clark saw his future with Lois who didn’t reject him, he balanced very well his human and superhero lives, and they didn’t have so serious problems caused by fate. After that Clark was gonna out himself to Lois. Then at the end of ‘Isis’ Lois started making him jealous telling about her special connection with the Blur, and after that Clark finally told her everything (that scene showed how he decided to out himself to Lois in the future that he saw in ‘Homecoming’).
Once again, Clark really wanted to tell Lois his secret and his words about sharing his life with her were true. But the point is he did when he _wasn’t ready._ Only after being jealous Clark decided to tell her the truth. That’s it.

Not to mention how oliver and her split when oliver told her. The huge difference between the wanting to tell both lana and lois was that when he wanted to tell lana it was ALWAYS DESPERATE. He wanted to keep her. Him telling lois was never desperate, he just loved her. There was no drama or fear of losing lois when he told her. But to each their own. I think the show pretty much concluded to the viewer the huge differences and some just refuse to see it.

But the meteor shower had killed her parents and Clark was ashamed of himself even though there wasn’t his fault (the same thing with Lana, she felt guilty before her parents for surviving even though there wasn’t her fault). Of course, it was much harder to tell her than to Lois. Also when Clark finally told her the truth, she died saving his secret. That’s why he decided not to tell her anymore because he didn’t want to put her in danger. Pay attention Clark never told Lana his secret even being ‘red’ because he wanted to protect her.
I mean how would you be able to tell something like Clarks secret to the person you love, knowing that it would 100% be just a matter of time before they are put in a life threatening situation just because of who Clark is.

I grew up loving Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane, separately and as a couple but until this show, I was never let down or disappointed in them. Boy, Smallville includes a moment usually more than one that disappointed and it was usually in/by Clark most often; he should have told Lois before she figured it out herself and patiently hoped that one day he would tell her. It’s sad that such great actors got such bad writers.
I think that it was done that way on purpose. When Lana found out she pressured Clark into telling her before he was ready;and if memory serves she broke up with him not long after he finally told her. This was meant to show a parallel between the two relationships, you're only shown the same thing twice in movies or shows when they want you to see the difference between the two. Lois has suspected Clark was the Blur for a while, and all this whit Zodd impersonating the Blur made her have her doubts. But after he kissed her in the alley she knew for sure; and she waited for him to tell her on his own terms. I think another reason behind it was Clark was always so afraid of rejection by those he cared about after he told them (Case and point Lana) by this point in the series Lois is the love of his life (even if he doesn't realize it yet) and he's afraid of her walking away. He's also afraid of the danger he'd be putting her in just by being in a relationship, kryptonite may weaken him; but anyone hurting Lois would fully break him, hence the "Injustice" storyline.
@@hollandfray4521 at first Lana was too curious and inpatient due to her mental issues (after seeing her parents’ cruel death being a 3-year-old kid). At the end of 'Visage', she said to Clark she didn't care if he had any secrets. And kept her word until season 3 when he left all his beloved ones. After that she started asking him to tell her the true again because she didn't want such situation to repeat. And Lana was right. proof is 'Hypnotic' (especially its ending). And in 'Reckoning', she didn't leave him. She said she needed a break (not break-up). Clark had stopped not only sleeping with her after regaining his powers again, he couldn't even kiss her like before (in 'Fanatic' when they were kissing, Lana accidently hit her head, and her thought it was his fault). If he at least explained her the reason why he was acting like that, she would understand him (don't forget the beginning of 'Hypnotic' when Clark refused again to sleep with her, she decided not to pressure him but wait until he was ready). When Clark dated Lois, he had already been trained by Jor-El, that's why he could sleep with her and they didn't have such problems as Clana had in season 5. Also at the end of season 9, when there was a threat to Clois’ relationship Lois demanded Clark to tell her the truth too.
