Three-Level Pumping Scheme
In a three-level system, there are three energy levels involved:
Ground State (Level 1)
Excited State (Level 3)
Metastable State (Level 2)
Operation Steps:
Pumping Process:
Electrons in the ground state (Level 1) are excited to an excited state (Level 3) by absorbing photons of appropriate energy (usually through external pumping such as a flash lamp or laser diode).
Rapid Relaxation:
Electrons in Level 3 quickly decay to the lower metastable state (Level 2) without emitting laser light. This is a non-radiative process (typically through vibrational or thermal relaxation).
Stimulated Emission:
Electrons in the metastable state (Level 2) can then be stimulated to emit photons and return to the ground state (Level 1). This emission is responsible for the laser action.

Sir ak doubt hai population inversion ma apna excited state ma 10 to the power -3 mention kya ha but Bo to metastable state ki hoti Hana . Excited state ki to 10 ki power -8 sec hota ha .
