depends if that first kill activated loud, if it does then its because payday 2's soundtrack depends on the situation, if its an assault it goes to town with the music, if its off assault it goes to a calmer variant (and one that is less intense to let you focus on the objectives) and then when an assault is soon to happen the music builds up, kinda like an anticipation phase or something, i know it's been 3 years since you commented but it'll bug me if i dont reply

One of the laggiest heists ever. Controlling those lambos is close to impossible and I've lost this heist just because of someone getting stuck with a car somewhere. Also, if you're on public, expect 3 hours trying to get through the first half. Normally I'm chill with public stealth heists (it's actually fun to be with inexperts) but this one is just a no-no.

Not only that, but the two transitional periods between assault waves (and firstly stealth to assault) have their own section. The assault part is also 100% dynamically extended/ended because captain winters exists and his assault wave only stops when the player acts. The effort that goes into making dynamic music like this is impressive. So much effort for a little thing most people won't notice, but it goes an incredibly long way.

This has always been one of the best songs in Payday 2 IMO, even today. The calculated, cold and almost sinister sound of the assault version reminds me of an earlier time for the Payday series where the Payday gang were less of a merry gang of robbers and more like you were playing as the bad guys, and professional career criminals. The game itself was less about killing cops with flamethrowers, bows and miniguns while robbing the whitehouse and stealing nukes, and more about these guys robbing small banks and screwing with the local drug lords and trying their hardest to not get steamrolled in Overkill difficulty. That's not to say I think Payday 2 isn't still a good game but I hope Payday 3 returns to this kind of feeling
