“ILY WITH MY YES” was originally written during a trip in Iraq last summer. It was inspired by Acts 9 where Paul (Saul at the time) encountered Jesus and God chose Paul as His instrument who will bring the Gospel to people who have not known or even heard of it. As I was sitting at the very back row during a service, a 17-year old Syrian Refugee teenager who was born a Muslim, sitting in a wheelchair, not able to move his body since birth, encountered Jesus and was sharing that he has no excuse to not share about Jesus to others. Witnessing how that brother went through the streets to evangelize even with his wheelchair left me with this question: “what is my excuse?” I grabbed my notebook, pen, and started writing a letter to God. This song was birthed as a result and is a finished product of that letter. I pray that all who listens to these lyrics will find the strength to say a simple “yes” to our Father who has called and given us the privilege to partake in the fulfillment of His Word. May our greatest desire be to obey our Father in every aspect of our lives which is also one of the greatest way to express our love to Him.
