I went to a predominantly white high school. I was in marching band and I was determined to go to an HBCU to be in the marching band to actually be able to experience how it's truly done. I even got accepted to one but I didn't get to attend...watching this performance made me kind of tear up because I truly missed out. The musicianship and control of this band is appreciably euphonious. To the majorettes!!... y'all are ethereally gifted...you ladies executed this beautifully!!!
This band battle was one of the best I seen in a long time. Both TSU and SU (the dancers and the band members) put on a performance. This was really a special moment - this song was well played by the band members and the dancers were spectacular (and the choreography was so creative). You deserve a standing ovation on this one here. It was so Awesome . 👏👏👏
DOLLS don’t do stand routines. They stick to their traditional counts, patterns, and sequences until it comes to FIELD SHOWS. SO trying to be a Doll is obsolete. And Brian Simmons said in an interview, “the things Texas Southern do, are Brian Simmons and staff. Things that Southern used to do were also Brian Simmons!” When you know you know!
I came across this on Instagram the other week and fell in love. 1:03--2:15 is my favorite part. The band is impressive, loud, and enveloping. And the beautiful dancers are feeding us! The captain in front is a real cutie and the dancer to her back left (in the third row) is serving it up hot. Also--shout out the cameramen--love the various angles and editing. Thank you.
