Hi Will. Love your videos. I’m using a LaunchKey 49 and have mapped Prev, Next, Play, Stop as you’ve shown, however when i advance to next song and hit the play button, it goes back to the beginning 1.1.1 Sure I’m missing something simple but can’t seem to figure it out, any tips?
This seems to work great for me *except*... Ableton visually scrolls the screen forward to the right marker but when I hit play it just starts playing back where I last started (in my case that's like 10 songs back, before my first show "stop"). So, the MIDI automation clearly moves me forward to the correct locator but does not move the playhead with it. Any thoughts? edit: BTW, I'm using this with an automated stop command, so I hit stop at the same moment I command Ableton forward... thinking this is the cause of the problem...
I'm running a set through session mode on one laptop and then I have my videos on a second computer in arrangement mode. Can I sync all this up so scene 1 plays locator 1? I'm running all this through abelton's link feature.
Hi! Thanks for the tutorials! Ive got a kind of overkill question that you might be able to answear. I use arrantement view for my liveset. Recording live on 4 loopers and use automations during the songs. The problem is that i want to be more out of the box like a real looper because i play Guitar a bit like ed Sheeran. Do you know if there is a way to set up markers for like 4 bar verse and then 8 bar chorus for example and loop that 4bar first. Assign a switch on a Midi foot controller to Jump forward to chorus in the end of the loop, not in 1 bar or something like that.. with a setup like this the loopingarea also need to move to chorus position. In this way i would be able to autorecord the everything in an ”buildup”. Then when it moves to intro and loops. Maybe to solo, talk a bit, and when im ready it moves on to verse, and triggers a loop next in the view but I can automato to drop out drums and a Guitar maybe. I would also be able to build an ”build up” area before chorus with maybe somekind of swell, hits and so on.. That would be so cool! Do you know if its possible ? 😀
Hey will, i have a Korg Nanokontrol2 On the session view, i want to be able to scroll up/down vertically arround the clips, like the arrow keys. Im not being able to midi map this. Any help?
In Session view and in Midi map mode, you should see 2 arrows near your master I/O section (Scene up and Scene down). Note that those arrow only appear when you are in Midi Map mode. P.s: Next to those arrow there's also the Scene Select, that allow you to map it to an endless encoder to scroll up and down scenes very fast. Altough not endless, it should also somewhat work with a knobs of the nanoK
@@nighine9372 Great friend. I had never seen it, thank you very much!! By the way, I take the opportunity to ask again based on the above: I want to be able to move vertically and launch the desired individual clip on the desired channel. Am I clear? When I press the launch button, it launches the channels clip at once. I need to release new clips but without stopping playing the ones that are playing (vertically speaking). I can't achieve this and I'm not sure if it is mappable
Hi Will, thank you for the lessons.. in my church, the worship leader gives cues with his/her fingers where the song goes to (verse, chorus, etc.) when the part of the played song nearly end so we have to be very quick to jump between the timestamps.. is there any other way to do that beside vigorously press previous/next button 😂 and my midi keyboard just have 16 assignable pads and wont be enough for 4-6 songs with different parts from each one..🙏🏻🙏🏻
You’ll either want to use TouchOSC and map to every song section or assign the most likely to repeat parts for each song. It’s worth having a chat with Worship Leaders to make sure they’re communicating in enough time. I think you’ll find you’ll be tapping frantically far less than you think. In even the most spontaneous situations I’ve been in, we’re repeating sections of songs, and only very occasionally making really far jumps, like from a verse to a bridge. Every situation is different but don’t be afraid to try it a few times before you pivot to something more time consuming like TouchOSC or mapping more sections.
How did you map "play" and "start"? Can you map a locations and play to one pad? I want to hit a pad and it moves to a location and starts playing. If you start a section and hit a location does the playback stop or does it jump and continue playing?
Hey Will, cheers for this. Have you figured out a way to midi map locators so that they both navigate to, and start playing with one command? (Assuming the project has been ‘stopped’.)
super helpful! thanks!
Thank you so much for your Ableton videos. They have helped me multiple times! You rock!

@@fromstudiotostage Ok ill try, thank you for replying 🙏🏻

Check out the channel for how to and why I don’t suggest doing it that way.

yes: ua-cam.com/video/oimT8rCqfuQ/v-deo.html but I wouldn't suggest it
@@fromstudiotostage Cheers for the reply. Well this is a nightmare. Building dummy clips in session view is also absurdly buggy.
