One Night in Honolulu: Asher's S13 | HALCYON

- Personally I love these "One Night in" videos. They have always been unplanned and unscripted. This was shot in 4 hours, all I had on me was the A7SIII with a kit lens, and a pro mist filter. Thankfully Martin (@redherringphotography) had a Ronin-M I could borrow! However it died after the parking garage scene. All of the rollers were shot handheld. No location scouting, no planning! Big thanks again to @redherringphotography for assisting!
This video came about during a recent trip to Hawaii with my wife. I didn't have any intentions on shooting something, however she suggested getting out there one night and doing so. I spent time on Instagram looking for cars local to Honolulu, and Asher's S13 caught my eye. From there, I spent one night shooting with Asher and our friend Martin, @redherringphotography. Much love to the wife for being down with me spending some time on our vacation shooting this S13.

That rolling reflection shot is perfection. Amazing what you can capture even when you're just having a chill time.
yeah! we were sitting at a light, looked up and noticed it. unfortunately i had to crop in pretty tight because of the reflection on the glass. but oh well!
I miss my S13 so much. I was born and raised on Oahu. We had the first sanctioned drift events in the U.S but unfortunately our track got closed down in 2005. I live on Maui now, for small islands without a circuit you’d be surprised how many modded cars you see here. Lots of people passionate about cars here in Hawaii. What are the chances haha! Funny enough, we also went to Kauai and stopped by the drag strip for their labor day races. Indeed crazy how many high hp builds are there!

when your handheld rollers are better than my Ronin S2 rolling shots..... hahaha but in all seriousness the handheld rollers give a nice cinematic shake that adds more intensity to the footage well done !
The A7SIII’s active stabilization is unreal. When shooting through the viewfinder, unless there’s a harsh bump, perfectly smooth. Then you can shake it up when you want!

For clarity though, the intro scene and parking garage was done on a Ronin-M, everything else handheld however! But agreed!
