The Poles may have been the first to be defeated but they sowed the seeds of German demise, ironically even before the war had started - by cracking the Enigma and transferring entire knowledge on rotor wiring along with replica Enigma machine they built and their methods such as Bomba and Zygalski Sheets to the British and the French in the nick of time (just 2 months before being invaded). My first job delivering pizzas had an 80 something year old Polish delivery driver who was always looking for something to do. He had to be a kid or around his teens during the war. You couldn't stop this guy for anything. He was always outworking some of the middle-aged guys in their 30's and 40's at the shop and the other workers would joke around calling him my grandpa lol

Warto przypomnieć, że Niemcy jeszcze przez trzy kolejne miesiące po zakończeniu powstania niszczyli miasto (październik-listopad-grudzień 1944 roku). Stworzyli nawet specjalne oddziały, które były za to odpowiedzialne. Armia Czerwona stała w tym czasie za rzeką i praktycznie nie reagowała. Co ciekawe niemieccy generałowie nie byli zadowoleni z tego, że Hitler marnuje ogromne ilości benzyny i materiałów wybuchowych ma warszawskie budynki, gdyż uważali że to wszystko bardziej przyda się na froncie. W sumie mieli rację, ale Hitler miał "bzika" na punkcie Warszawy. Na szczęście nie wszystko zniszczyli. Sporo zabytków mimo wszystko się zachowało, część odbudowano po wojnie a część odremontowano, gdyż zniszczone były w niewielkim stopniu. Nie zdążyli wysadzić na przykład Pałacu na Wyspie w Łazienkach Królewskich i wielu innych cennych zabytków gdyż w styczniu 1945 roku nastąpiła ofensywa sowietów. W Warszawie trzeba koniecznie odbudować Pałac Saski - niezwykle ważny obiekt dla Warszawy i polskiej kultury. Szkopy obecnie odbudowują praktycznie od zera Zamek w Berlinie (zniszczony podczas zdobywania Berlina oraz całkowicie rozebrany po wojnie przez władze komunistyczne). Wiedzą, że takie obiekty są dla narodu niezwykle ważne i cenne. My koniecznie musimy odbudować Pałac Saski, bo testament Hitlera i Stalina nie może być u nas wprowadzany w życie.

My grandfather and grandmother worked slavery in Germany. My grandfather had a tattooed number on his forearm. After the war, when they demanded payment by the Red Cross, it turned out that in the place where they worked, the documents were lost and no one remembers about slaves from Poland.

Chwala II RP. Wielki Szacunek dla naszych Wielkich Przodków i Dziadków! Na zawsze! Po I Wojnie Światowej Niemcy i Rosjanie wywieźli z ziem II RP wszystkie zakłady, które stanowiły jakąkolwiek wartość - to samo w 1945 roku - i zostawili praktycznie ogołoconą ziemię. Ziemie polskie były przeorane działaniami wojennymi I Wojny Światowej. Mieliśmy tylko 20 lat! TAK MALUTKO! Z takiego punktu startowała Polska po odzyskaniu niepodległości. Dodać należy, ze młode państwo nie miało szans na żadne kredyty w państwach zachodnich i za oceanem w przeciwieństwie do naszych sąsiadów, których sowicie kredytowano, umożliwiając im rozwój i zbrojenia. I świetnie wiedzieli, ze nie będą tych kredytów oddawać, tylko będą podbijać i grabić. I pomimo tej gigantycznej dysproporcji stanęła do walki z super uprzemysłowionym i uzbrojonym po zęby brunatnym agresorem. Polska była jedynym państwem, z którym Niemcy nie walczyły na dwa fronty, na który Niemcy rzuciły wszystkie siły. Otrzymywała potworne ciosy, ale cały czas walczyła! Aż 17.09.1939 dostała haniebny cios w plecy ze wschodu. To polski korpus oficerski nie musiał niczego odbudowywać! Jednoznacznie zadeklarowal w 1938, ze w razie ataku Hitlera na "tchórzy z zachodu" - cynicznie popychających nas do starcia z Hitlerem - Polska natychmiastowo zaatakuje Niemców. Co było oczywiście niedopuszczalnym błędem, bo zmieniło plany Hitlera, który zamierzał zaatakować Francję w pierwszej kolejności. Nigdy nie utracił swej godności i honoru, bohatersko walcząc we wrześniu 1939, mimo świadomej oraz planowanej zdrady pseudosojusznikow. Mimo kolosalnej przewagi Niemców i Rosjan oraz fatalnego - FRONT 1600 kilometrów - wyjściowego położenia geograficznego. Kiedy spisali się o całe niebo lepiej niż ich koledzy z armii francusko-brytyjsko-holendersko-belgijskiej działających w warunkach przewagi i korzystnego przebiegu granic - FRONT 400 kilometrów. No i na żądanie pseudo sojuszników wstrzymaliśmy pełną mobilizację, żeby nie drażnić Niemców, taktykę wybrano przy założeniu, ze z zachodu pójdzie uderzenie na Niemców. Marszałek Erich von Manstein zwracał uwagę, że podczas kampanii francuskiej nie doszło do żadnej akcji zaczepnej, przypominającej choćby manewr Kutrzeby nad Bzurą (No i mieliśmy podpisany "Pakt o nieagresji" z naszymi braćmi -Słowianami ze wschodu, którzy nam od lat zarzucają zdradę słowiańszczyzny. No i nikt im ciosu w plecy nie zadał, jak nam w 1939, pomimo podpisanego Paktu o nieagresji! Polacy cofnęli się przed Niemcami około 300-350 kilometrów we wrześniu 1939 roku. A lato było piękne i upalne tamtego roku, aura sprzyjała Niemcom. Sowieci cofali się przed Niemcami 2350 kilometrów w latach 1941-1942, a chcieli jeszcze dalej uciekać. W ciągu trzech pierwszych miesięcy wojny Armia Czerwona straciła 15,5 tys. czołgów, 66,9 tys. armat i moździerzy, ok. 10 tys. samolotów! Te liczby trzykrotnie przewyższają uzbrojenie biorących udział w agresji na ZSRS armii niemieckich, jeśli chodzi o czołgi, samoloty i artylerię. Surowa rosyjska zima i mrozy miały ogromny wpływ na zatrzymanie Niemców. O dysproporcjach demograficznych (Polska - Niemcy, ZSRR - Niemcy, Francja - Niemcy) i głębi terytorialnej nie będę wspominał. Stosunek liczebny 40:1 na korzyść Niemców nie przerażał polskich żołnierzy pod Wizną…!!!! A potem walcząc w powietrzu, na morzach, we Francji i Norwegii w 1940 r, w Afryce i na polach Normandii, pod Arnhem, Bredą, nad Renem, w Powstaniu, w walkach "leśnych", w wywiadzie AK, dali przykład tego czym jest oficerski "esprit de corps"! "To był pierwszy polski żołnierz, którego ujrzały moje oczy. Na progu granicznej zagrody leżał we krwi, skurczony z bólu, kolana przy piersiach. Bronił nakazanego stanowiska do końca. Jego ładownice były puste, a w magazynku karabinu były tylko dwa naboje, gdy trafił go śmiertelny strzał. Bronił stanowiska do ostatka, choć wiedział, że to śmierć. A obok, przy oknach zagrody zamienionych w strzelnice, we wnękach strzeleckich wykopanych w ogrodzie, śniło swój wieczny sen dziewięciu jego towarzyszy. Drużyna, którą tworzyli, zajmowała stanowisko kilkaset metrów od granicy. Tych dziesięciu ludzi z jednym karabinem maszynowym i dziesięcioma karabinami oczekiwało niemieckiego natarcia. Nie mieli za sobą silniejszych oddziałów. Wiedzieli, że ich opór może zatrzymać nieprzyjaciela tylko przez kilka godzin, a może minut. Tych dziesięciu nie myślało jednak o odwrocie. Nie przyszło im do głowy wsiąść na stojące na tyłach zagrody rowery. Zostali w zagrodzie, trwając w pogotowiu”.- fragment z Newsweek "Ta relacja autorstwa niemieckich korespondentów wojennych, Kurta Froweina i Wilfreda von Ovena, oddaje dramat bitwy granicznej 1 września 1939 roku. Podobnie uważał płk. Marian Porwit, jeden z dowódców obrony Warszawy, twórca szczegółowej analizy wojny 1939 roku: „Gdyby założono od początku, że walczymy samotnie, należałoby zaplanować optymalne w tych warunkach starcie, w którym nie chodziłoby o wygranie czasu, a o wielką bitwę, widoczną dla współczesnych, siłą rzeczy wchodzącą w pamięć potomnych. W starciu tym powinny wziąć udział wszystkie zapasowe działa i wszelka broń, powinna być wystrzelana cała amunicja”. Podobnie jak gen. Kutrzeba, również płk. Porwit uważał, że bitwę taką polskie wojsko powinno stoczyć w oparciu o wielkie rzeki i miasta. Ich zdaniem koncentrowanie tam od początku głównych polskich sił oraz broni przeciwpancernej wydłużyłoby polski opór na terenie centralnej Polski do co najmniej siedmiu tygodni. Podobnie uważał niemiecki marszałek Erich von Manstein, pisząc, że „gdyby polska obrona została skrócona do linii Wisły, Narwi i Sanu, Polska mogłaby się utrzymać kilka tygodni dłużej”. W rzeczywistości Polacy walczyli bardzo dzielnie i skutecznie. Odtajnione archiwa niemieckie podają, że podczas czterech tygodni walk straty Wehrmachtu wyniosły 91 000 zabitych i 63 000 ciężko rannych. Były to największe straty, jakie miał ponieść Wehrmacht do czasu bitwy o Stalingrad i oblężenia Leningradu dwa lata później - a przez te dwa lata Niemcy podbili prawie całą Europę". Since I watched the Pianist I've been obsessed with this city, it's so horrible what they did to it but so amazing as well to see how beautiful it still is and how much of it has been rebuilt. I love to see those old and lavish buildings being rebuilt. I hope they keep doing it, this city had a lot of potential back then, they are catching up so nicely. I hope to see more of these beautiful buildings taking shape again to the way they used to be back then.
Podczas jednego z nalotow, od wybuchu bomby zginął w Warszawie brat mojego dziadka. 22 letni chłopak, walczyl w 43 pułku piechoty, przez 3 tygodnie w ciągłej walce, przebil sie do Warszawy. Najlepszy z trójki braci. Jego smierc przetrąciła kręgosłup naszej rodzinie. Kto wie ile takich tragedii spowodowała ta wojna ? Byłem kiedyś w Monachium na October Fest i widziałem pare starszych miejscowych ludzi. W młodości musieli byc naprawde piekni, przystojni. Bił od nich spokoj i widac bylo ze zyja dostatnio i nic im nie brakuje. Zastanawialem sie, patrzac na nich jedzacych w restauracji - gdzie tu sprawiedliwosc ? Oni kiedys raczke podnosili przed Adolfem, pozdrawiali go znanym okrzykiem, byc moze ten pan mial kiedys gustowny mundurek od Hugo Bossa. Ta dwojka starszych ludzi byla wspolwinna smierci brata mojego dziadka, nedzy naszego narodu pod okupacja niemiecka, potem upodleniu z czasow stalinowskich, komunistycznych. Bieda i smutna starosc moich dziadkow to rowniez zasluga tych dwojga staruszkow z Monachium, ktorzy spokojnie sobie jedli w restauracji i popijali piwko - jak przez ostatnie kilkadziesiat lat. No i gdzie tu sprawiedliwosc ?
Dałem tobie łapkę w góre jest tylko jedno ALE ... wcale nie powiedziane że pod rządami sanaccji nasi seniorzy żyliby na poziomie dziadków z Monachium. Monachium jest bogate bo tam wojny nigdy nie było a jakimś zrządzeniem losu biura konstrukcyjne i fabryki najlepszych koncernów motoryzacyjnych świata upatrzyły sobie tam gniazdko. Już prędzej gdyby nie wojna to Czesi mieliby zbliżony status. Skoda i Tatra w tamtych latach wymiatały i gdyby nie komunizm to byłyby na równi z Peugeotem i Renaultem. Sanacja w Polsce to było bagno ładujące pieniądze w socjal żołnierzy. Poziom naszych seniorów byłby gdzieś może na poziomie Turcji albo Hiszpanii.

Wow. Hearing my grandfather’s stories (as told to his granddaughter) were so very the opposite of these images. My heart is so broken, not only for the horrific death that was dealt to everyday people just like us, but the beautiful buildings, landmarks, schools, hospitals, artworks, churches and homes of these people!! It is far beyond my comprehension, laying in my comfortable bed, in my apartment in 2021! Have we learned anything since? Why yes, of course we have. We’ve learned how to make bigger bombs, more deadly bombs! That way no one will ever have to worry about war....not ever again. 😢
the truth is that there was a completely different war in the west than in the east. Hitler declared war on Poland with a total war against innocent civilians. Don't get me wrong, of course, I feel sorry for all victims regardless of their origin
My grandparents came from Poland in the early 1900's. I had many relatives remaining in Poland though who suffered a great deal in WWII, and even met one who was interned in Auschwitz. They need to make this and the suffering of all the other countries that Nazi Germany overran or tried to overrun just as prominent on here as the bombing of Berlin. It is very hard to stomach.
Immensely proud of my Polish heritage and the few family members who survived the destruction of this beautiful city. Especially my father who took part in the Warsaw Uprising as a teenage boy and survived. My heart is in both Poland and Scotland. However, no matter how beautiful a country Germany is, I can’t travel and visit there. The horrors of WW2 are too deeply embedded. Perhaps my son’s generation will visit.

After 80 million people killed by German actions, this nation has to be lucky not to end all, in gas chambers they built for others, at the end of the war. The Allies and even Russians showed their great face at the end of war.
I was a semester abroad in Warsaw, it's a beautiful city and it hurt to watch this video knowing even more destruction was going to happen, I'm amazed how much Warsaw has been able to rise from the ashes.

Wiem, że data ale wojna taka jest. Wojnę zawsze zaczyna się od bombardowań miast. Albo obleganie miasta też jest to samo. Wojna to po prostu zabijanie i bombardowanie.
W 7:54 [min/s] - ostatnie ujęcie przed końcem rolki. Widać dwie wieże Katedry Częstochowskiej oraz plac przed nią wraz z wykopanymi rowami w kształcie liter "W". Na tym placu w dniach 3-4 września, niemcy zamordowali z karabinu maszynowego ok 300 osób.

On September 1st 1939 my father Joseph was a twenty year old university student in Warsaw.he told me he stepped outside and saw the German Stuka dive bombers diving straight down with those whistles on their wings which made them scream. Civilians that tried to escape the city were attacked by German fighter planes.He joined the Polish army on September third and fought street by street until they were exhausted of ammunition food etc. He mentioned that after eating horses some soldiers were eating cats and dogs. He hated the Germans until he died in 1996 and with some of the stories he told me I couldn’t lame him.

I believe these recordings are from 1939 and not from 1945. The German titles in the film suggest this but also the fact that a lot of the city is still intact. In 1945, much more if the buildings were left destroyed.

And let's not forget Germany never paid any reparations to Poland- the country which suffered the most through civilian and material losses. If any reparations were paid on account of Poland damages, they went to the Soviet Union. My grandparents lived around 40km/25miles from Warsaw (in a straight line), and Germans forced them to build temporary shelters for their planes. My grand-grandmother told me stories when she smuggled meat for the Poles living in Warsaw during the occupation- food was strictly rationed (rations leading to starvation), and the meat was allowed only for Germans. I listened to these stories with my very own ears when I was 10-15 years old. As a child, I had frequent nightmares, where I tried to escape "Łapanka" (please search on Wikipedia for more information about what "Łapanka" was). We will never forget what Germans did to our population, culture, cities, villages and industry. Could you believe that Germany still keeps Polish artefacts robbed from our museums and castles?

As a Hungarian all I can say is that my heart is hurt after watching this video. I love Poland and seeing this country getting destroyed like that honestly breakes my heart. I‘m also ashamed that Hungary sited with Germany and became a part of the axis but I am happy that Hungary didn’t participate into attacking Poland and even denied Germany access to attack Poland from Hungary.

Zmieniły się tylko metody działania. W 1939 r., czy też prędzej, Polska była najeżdżana zbrojnie i w ten sposób była podporządkowywana zaborcom. Dziś takie rozwiązania to ostateczność. Na przykładzie Polski, czy też innych państw Europy widać dokładnie, że uzależnienie gospodarcze, to dziś element kontroli. Wyprzedać gospodarki państw, później zalać je obcym kapitałem i już, gotowe. Wolna Polska, to Polska niezależna. A czy Polska jest niezależna? Wniosek jest prosty, nie jesteśmy wolnymi ludźmi, a Polska nie jest wolnym krajem. I zniewolili nas bez nawet jednego wystrzału z broni.. a ludziom zabieganym, żyjącym w ciągłym pośpiechu wydaje się, że są tacy wolni.. Matrix na żywo.

Yes, Hitler ordered Germans to raze Warsaw, but in 1944 , after so called "Warsaw Uprising", which could not be won by the Poles, as a revenge for starting the revolt. In 1945 there were no Germans in Warsaw already. On January 17th - Warsaw was re-occupied, this time, by Soviet troops (which they called in official propaganda, "liberation of Warsaw").

Seeing this film of Warsaw on fire and being bombed in September 1939 makes me think that somewhere down in that city my 20 year old father is in the Polish Army fighting the Germans street by street.

So the Poles were bravely brave on almost every front of the Second World War. We were the first to oppose the Hitler armed when everyone was afraid, and after the war, as the traitors of Poland organized a victory parade, not a single Pole was invited. And we remember about it, we teach our children about the past and we regret that our allies had somewhere. The time will come when you will need brave Poles, but then we will dictate the conditions, and this time is coming, watching the collapse of Catholic Europe.

@@abrahamanthony3011 actually it's pretty overplayed but well known. We arrived when the battle was already won but our charge ensured no counter-attack later on. I'd say the major battle that are underplayed are the miracle under Warsaw, the bloody battles against the mongols and Ottomans that although mostly lost; they did ensure no further breach into Europe due to the massive loss of troops.

My father, aged 19, was on sentry duty on Modlin bridge when the Nazis attacked Warsaw. The Nazis tried bombing the bridge but failed. After 2 years in a gulag, he was freed and joined Ander's army, eventually in Italy and Monte Casino. It was another 45 years before he could safely visit his beloved Poland again.
One of the worsts things is that they don't even want to pay war reparations for Poland... About 6 million innocent people died and whole cities were anihilated- that's the reason why Poland is not "west" rich country. They have a lot of money and they only steal more from EU budget. Also Poland was under Soviet occupation after war while Germany was into Marshall plan and got miliards of money... The Poles may have been the first to be defeated but they sowed the seeds of German demise, ironically even before the war had started - by cracking the Enigma and transferring entire knowledge on rotor wiring along with replica Enigma machine they built and their methods such as Bomba and Zygalski Sheets to the British and the French in the nick of time (just 2 months before being invaded). Alan Turing's Bombe was a tribute to Rejewski's Bomba. Heroic efforts the Poles put in.

I worked with a old man named Andreas hes over 65 and works hardered than any one i have ever met, moves even quicker then a 28 yr old me.. but whats crazy is his family werrenwar refugees and told me some loved through this. Respect and love t you andreas and the polish people. Good hearted people
My first job delivering pizzas had an 80 something year old Polish delivery driver who was always looking for something to do. He had to be a kid or around his teens during the war. You couldn't stop this guy for anything. He was always outworking some of the middle-aged guys in their 30's and 40's at the shop and the other workers would joke around calling him my grandpa lol

Warto przypomnieć, że Niemcy jeszcze przez trzy kolejne miesiące po zakończeniu powstania niszczyli miasto (październik-listopad-grudzień 1944 roku). Stworzyli nawet specjalne oddziały, które były za to odpowiedzialne. Armia Czerwona stała w tym czasie za rzeką i praktycznie nie reagowała. Co ciekawe niemieccy generałowie nie byli zadowoleni z tego, że Hitler marnuje ogromne ilości benzyny i materiałów wybuchowych ma warszawskie budynki, gdyż uważali że to wszystko bardziej przyda się na froncie. W sumie mieli rację, ale Hitler miał "bzika" na punkcie Warszawy. Na szczęście nie wszystko zniszczyli. Sporo zabytków mimo wszystko się zachowało, część odbudowano po wojnie a część odremontowano, gdyż zniszczone były w niewielkim stopniu. Nie zdążyli wysadzić na przykład Pałacu na Wyspie w Łazienkach Królewskich i wielu innych cennych zabytków gdyż w styczniu 1945 roku nastąpiła ofensywa sowietów. W Warszawie trzeba koniecznie odbudować Pałac Saski - niezwykle ważny obiekt dla Warszawy i polskiej kultury. Szkopy obecnie odbudowują praktycznie od zera Zamek w Berlinie (zniszczony podczas zdobywania Berlina oraz całkowicie rozebrany po wojnie przez władze komunistyczne). Wiedzą, że takie obiekty są dla narodu niezwykle ważne i cenne. My koniecznie musimy odbudować Pałac Saski, bo testament Hitlera i Stalina nie może być u nas wprowadzany w życie.

Już tej starej Warszawy nigdy nie odzyskamy i to powinna być nauczką na przyszłość. A Stalin musiałby być debilem żeby nam pomagać. A nie był bo wygrywał wtedy wojnę.
A potem po wojnie np. żeby wybudować Pałac Kultury i Nauki zburzono około 170 kamienic
Dużą część Warszawy nawet teraz możnaby odbudować. Zamiast budować kolejne bezwartościowe wieżowce trzeba oczywiscie odbudować takie obiekty jak Pałac Saski. To zresztą nie są jakieś wielkie kwoty w skali całego kraju, a naprawdę ważne dla tożsamości narodowej.

My grandfather and grandmother worked slavery in Germany. My grandfather had a tattooed number on his forearm. After the war, when they demanded payment by the Red Cross, it turned out that in the place where they worked, the documents were lost and no one remembers about slaves from Poland.

Po I Wojnie Światowej Niemcy i Rosjanie wywieźli z ziem II RP wszystkie zakłady, które stanowiły jakąkolwiek wartość - to samo w 1945 roku - i zostawili praktycznie ogołoconą ziemię. Ziemie polskie były przeorane działaniami wojennymi I Wojny Światowej. Mieliśmy tylko 20 lat! TAK MALUTKO! Z takiego punktu startowała Polska po odzyskaniu niepodległości. Dodać należy, ze młode państwo nie miało szans na żadne kredyty w państwach zachodnich i za oceanem w przeciwieństwie do naszych sąsiadów, których sowicie kredytowano, umożliwiając im rozwój i zbrojenia. I świetnie wiedzieli, ze nie będą tych kredytów oddawać, tylko będą podbijać i grabić. I pomimo tej gigantycznej dysproporcji stanęła do walki z super uprzemysłowionym i uzbrojonym po zęby brunatnym agresorem. Polska była jedynym państwem, z którym Niemcy nie walczyły na dwa fronty, na który Niemcy rzuciły wszystkie siły. Otrzymywała potworne ciosy, ale cały czas walczyła! Aż 17.09.1939 dostała haniebny cios w plecy ze wschodu.
To polski korpus oficerski nie musiał niczego odbudowywać! Jednoznacznie zadeklarowal w 1938, ze w razie ataku Hitlera na "tchórzy z zachodu" - cynicznie popychających nas do starcia z Hitlerem - Polska natychmiastowo zaatakuje Niemców. Co było oczywiście niedopuszczalnym błędem, bo zmieniło plany Hitlera, który zamierzał zaatakować Francję w pierwszej kolejności.
Nigdy nie utracił swej godności i honoru, bohatersko walcząc we wrześniu 1939, mimo świadomej oraz planowanej zdrady pseudosojusznikow. Mimo kolosalnej przewagi Niemców i Rosjan oraz fatalnego - FRONT 1600 kilometrów - wyjściowego położenia geograficznego. Kiedy spisali się o całe niebo lepiej niż ich koledzy z armii francusko-brytyjsko-holendersko-belgijskiej działających w warunkach przewagi i korzystnego przebiegu granic - FRONT 400 kilometrów. No i na żądanie pseudo sojuszników wstrzymaliśmy pełną mobilizację, żeby nie drażnić Niemców, taktykę wybrano przy założeniu, ze z zachodu pójdzie uderzenie na Niemców. Marszałek Erich von Manstein zwracał uwagę, że podczas kampanii francuskiej nie doszło do żadnej akcji zaczepnej, przypominającej choćby manewr Kutrzeby nad Bzurą (No i mieliśmy podpisany "Pakt o nieagresji" z naszymi braćmi -Słowianami ze wschodu, którzy nam od lat zarzucają zdradę słowiańszczyzny. Zawsze jedno mówili, drugie deklarowali i podpisywali, a trzecie robili. Dobierali sobie bandytów z zachodu i rodzimych zdrajców, tylko wtedy byli górą.).
Czy też o takież samo "niebo" lepiej niż oficerowie Czerwonej Armii w latach 1941 - 1942, mimo że walczyli takoż w warunkach olbrzymiej przewagi nad wojskami niemieckimi (w 1939 roku Armia Czerwona dysponowała większą ilością czołgów, dział, samolotów i łodzi podwodnych niż wszystkie pozostałe armie razem wzięte), gdzie tonami płynęło zaopatrzenie z uzbrojeniem z USA. No i nikt im ciosu w plecy nie zadał, jak nam w 1939, pomimo podpisanego Paktu o nieagresji! Polacy cofnęli się przed Niemcami około 300-350 kilometrów we wrześniu 1939 roku. A lato było piękne i upalne tamtego roku, aura sprzyjała Niemcom. Sowieci cofali się przed Niemcami 2350 kilometrów w latach 1941-1942, a chcieli jeszcze dalej uciekać. W ciągu trzech pierwszych miesięcy wojny Armia Czerwona straciła 15,5 tys. czołgów, 66,9 tys. armat i moździerzy, ok. 10 tys. samolotów! Te liczby trzykrotnie przewyższają uzbrojenie biorących udział w agresji na ZSRS armii niemieckich, jeśli chodzi o czołgi, samoloty i artylerię. Surowa rosyjska zima i mrozy miały ogromny wpływ na zatrzymanie Niemców. O dysproporcjach demograficznych (Polska - Niemcy, ZSRR - Niemcy, Francja - Niemcy) i głębi terytorialnej nie będę wspominał. Stosunek liczebny 40:1 na korzyść Niemców nie przerażał polskich żołnierzy pod Wizną…!!!!
A potem walcząc w powietrzu, na morzach, we Francji i Norwegii w 1940 r, w Afryce i na polach Normandii, pod Arnhem, Bredą, nad Renem, w Powstaniu, w walkach "leśnych", w wywiadzie AK, dali przykład tego czym jest oficerski "esprit de corps"!

Since I watched the Pianist I've been obsessed with this city, it's so horrible what they did to it but so amazing as well to see how beautiful it still is and how much of it has been rebuilt. I love to see those old and lavish buildings being rebuilt. I hope they keep doing it, this city had a lot of potential back then, they are catching up so nicely. I hope to see more of these beautiful buildings taking shape again to the way they used to be back then.

Podczas jednego z nalotow, od wybuchu bomby zginął w Warszawie brat mojego dziadka. 22 letni chłopak, walczyl w 43 pułku piechoty, przez 3 tygodnie w ciągłej walce, przebil sie do Warszawy. No i gdzie tu sprawiedliwosc ?
Dałem tobie łapkę w góre jest tylko jedno ALE ... wcale nie powiedziane że pod rządami sanaccji nasi seniorzy żyliby na poziomie dziadków z Monachium. Wow. Hearing my grandfather’s stories (as told to his granddaughter) were so very the opposite of these images. My heart is so broken, not only for the horrific death that was dealt to everyday people just like us, but the beautiful buildings, landmarks, schools, hospitals, artworks, churches and homes of these people!! It is far beyond my comprehension, laying in my comfortable bed, in my apartment in 2021! Have we learned anything since? Why yes, of course we have. We’ve learned how to make bigger bombs, more deadly bombs! That way no one will ever have to worry about war....not ever again. 😢

My grandparents came from Poland in the early 1900's. I had many relatives remaining in Poland though who suffered a great deal in WWII, and even met one who was interned in Auschwitz. They need to make this and the suffering of all the other countries that Nazi Germany overran or tried to overrun just as prominent on here as the bombing of Berlin. It is very hard to stomach.

Immensely proud of my Polish heritage and the few family members who survived the destruction of this beautiful city. Especially my father who took part in the Warsaw Uprising as a teenage boy and survived. My heart is in both Poland and Scotland. Today is September 1st 2020. On September 1st 1939 my father Joseph was a twenty year old university student in Warsaw.he told me he stepped outside and saw the German Stuka dive bombers diving straight down with those whistles on their wings which made them scream. Civilians that tried to escape the city were attacked by German fighter planes.He joined the Polish army on September third and fought street by street until they were exhausted of ammunition food etc. He mentioned that after eating horses some soldiers were eating cats and dogs. He hated the Germans until he died in 1996 and with some of the stories he told me I couldn’t lame him.

I believe these recordings are from 1939 and not from 1945. The German titles in the film suggest this but also the fact that a lot of the city is still intact. In 1945, much more if the buildings were left destroyed.

And let's not forget Germany never paid any reparations to Poland- the country which suffered the most through civilian and material losses. My grandparents lived around 40km/25miles from Warsaw (in a straight line), and Germans forced them to build temporary shelters for their planes. My grand-grandmother told me stories when she smuggled meat for the Poles living in Warsaw during the occupation- food was strictly rationed (rations leading to starvation), and the meat was allowed only for Germans. I listened to these stories with my very own ears when I was 10-15 years old. As a child, I had frequent nightmares, where I tried to escape "Łapanka" (please search on Wikipedia for more information about what "Łapanka" was). We will never forget what Germans did to our population, culture, cities, villages and industry. Could you believe that Germany still keeps Polish artefacts robbed from our museums and castles?

As a Hungarian all I can say is that my heart is hurt after watching this video. I love Poland and seeing this country getting destroyed like that honestly breakes my heart. I‘m also ashamed that Hungary sited with Germany and became a part of the axis but I am happy that Hungary didn’t participate into attacking Poland and even denied Germany access to attack Poland from Hungary.

Wyprzedać gospodarki państw, później zalać je obcym kapitałem i już, gotowe.

But I have come here for years and I must tell you: I haven't seen Poland so well as it has been lately. I would say Poland has lived its best moment in the recent history. In 1945 there were no Germans in Warsaw already. On January 17th - Warsaw was re-occupied, this time, by Soviet troops (which they called in official propaganda, "liberation of Warsaw").
Really? I couldn’t exactly tell that the Russians liberated Warsaw. They just decided to wait ‘till the nazis completely destroyed the polish capital.

Z niesamowitą nostalgia ogląda się te piękne i przykre jednocześnie zdjęcia. Świetnie wyedytowane tak w ogóle. Może tak przestańcie się kłócić kto nas bardziej wtedy wychędożył. Co było to było. Pieprzoną nienawiścią za tragiczną przeszłość niczego nie wskóracie. Nowe pokolenia nie powinny brnąć w szambie pozostawionym przez przodków. Wybaczmy im ale nigdy o tym nie zapomnijmy... Seeing this film of Warsaw on fire and being bombed in September 1939 makes me think that somewhere down in that city my 20 year old father is in the Polish Army fighting the Germans street by street.

We were the first to oppose the Hitler armed when everyone was afraid, and after the war, as the traitors of Poland organized a victory parade, not a single Pole was invited. And we remember about it, we teach our children about the past and we regret that our allies had somewhere. The time will come when you will need brave Poles, but then we will dictate the conditions, and this time is coming, watching the collapse of Catholic Europe.

@@abrahamanthony3011 actually it's pretty overplayed but well known. We arrived when the battle was already won but our charge ensured no counter-attack later on. I'd say the major battle that are underplayed are the miracle under Warsaw, the bloody battles against the mongols and Ottomans that although mostly lost; they did ensure no further breach into Europe due to the massive loss of troops.

My father, aged 19, was on sentry duty on Modlin bridge when the Nazis attacked Warsaw. The Nazis tried bombing the bridge but failed. After 2 years in a gulag, he was freed and joined Ander's army, eventually in Italy and Monte Casino. It was another 45 years before he could safely visit his beloved Poland again.

One of the worsts things is that they don't even want to pay war reparations for Poland... About 6 million innocent people died and whole cities were anihilated- that's the reason why Poland is not "west" rich country. They have a lot of money and they only steal more from EU budget. Also Poland was under Soviet occupation after war while Germany was into Marshall plan and got miliards of money... Kasner to panieńskie nazwisko Pani Merkel, wnuczki prawdziwej pyry z poznańskiego śródmieścia. A Niemcy sapią, że ich krajem rządzą Polacy i żydzi.
