Enjoyed the video. My personal opinion is that FM Youth Intake is the most random thing on earth and no matter what facilities or HOYD or reputation you have you just get the hand you are dealt. At lower levels you will also get more "excellent" intakes because the star ratings are relevant to the rest of your team.
Thanks a lot! Have you had really crap intakes with solid facilities, HOYD and reputation before? If so, how bad was it? Totally agree with the lower league intakes looking great because of star ratings being squad based!
@@BoiMaam Yes! I have done experiments over long and short term saves with CA and PA columns visible and maxed everything out. Just from having played the game for a long time I personally think that the algorithm is actually against you. What I mean by that is if I play save with a top team, for example Man City, I will get a decent youth intake in the first season with one or two PA 160+ players, three or four 140-150 and then the rest are 130s. Then almost nothing for the rest of the save besides maybe one or 150/160 players over a 10 year period. But if I play a save where I am not Man City then every single season they are clearly getting the best intakes with multiple golden generations. Even if I keep everything the same or even improve HOYD, Facilities etc I don't get that ever. To be honest it's not realistic to have golden generations every season and I accept that readily but I also don't think that any of the so called variables, such as the ones mentioned in your video, have any bearing whatsoever with the team you are playing as in the save. I guess the frustration is that it is implied that it does but a bit like doing team meetings before cup finals or any kind of interview - you can skip it and the actual QOL of your save won't be damaged.
@@BoiMaam Another small point, I have always created shortlists of the intakes from all known players and shortlisted them based on their PA and I believe that in the first 2 season the game floods your save with insane PA players and then that pool of players shrinks as the game goes on. It's quite dramatic too in my experience. For example you may get 120 PA160+ players come into the first seasons intakes across the game world and then season two may be 100 but by season 3 onwards it can be closer to 40/50.
Really admire your commitment to the craft! Will definitely try to look even deeper into it and hopefully at some point in the future I'll be able to bust some myths(that I've taken for granted). Yeah I've all but written off some of the bells and whistles like Team Meetings but every now and then I find myself engaging in it to capture the magnitude of the upcoming game. One would hope that in future editions we'll get a more realistic mechanic behind development and intake but kudos to the lads for giving us something to keep us going in for more thus far. Really appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge here and look forward to hearing more in the future.
@@BoiMaam once ( in fm23 im still in 23 because i am waiting fm24 crack lol) with chelsea in my 3 rd season with all youth aspects full, 5 star HYOD niel bath and influence all over the world i have only 2.5 star youth intake with highest being 1.5 CA 3 PA unambisious kid!
I debate how accurate the preview is compared to the actuale intake itself as i very rarely if at all get a preview and intake match. Many streamers r in same boat. I have had golden genedations with some very poor facilities aswell. From fm25 i would like facilities intake preview and youth intake to have a massive overhaul to better reflect the structure in place
I agree! Would love to see consistent value/reward gained from the behind the scenes effort. The game will push its realism agenda far forward in this way. Perhaps an overhaul of the star rating system to reflect ability and potential as compared to the entire database rather than your squad will allow for more accuracy in intakes being reflective of structure in place.
@@BoiMaam I totally disagree with what you have both said above. How would it be realistic to keep getting golden generations year after year? How often do we see generational talents coming along? The way the system is now is good, I agree with the comment about it needing some refinement so as to reward players for their persistence in getting their respective academies and training to max out. But at the same time you don't need it being overkill. Maybe once in 4/5 years you may get that 160+ p.a wonderkid or once every 10+ Years you could get lucky to get that 180-200 p.a Superstar. But this cannot be a yearly thing.
@welshy1977 get your point mate but having the ridiculous PA won't necessarily translate into tons of players with super high CA's and in my opinion that's what goes on for the most part in the real world. There are tons of young lads that look exceptionally gifted( and in my opinion have high ceilings)at youth level at the major clubs that just don't develop well. I think good examples at Liverpool(assuming you're a fan) would be Samed Yeşil, Jordan Rossiter, Ovie Ejaria, etc. I don't think that these lads lacked the potential to go far, I think they just didn't develop that well. I think that this is the more accurate way forward as well, lots of high potential players in intakes but with personality limitations or other developmental limitations to them realizing that potential. Now getting golden generations every season is a stretch but there has to be a significant potential difference amongst players from better academies as compared to worse ones. I would love to see at the very least, a higher baseline PA that is consistently delivered with a better structure in place as I mentioned above. With the amount of money pumped into recruitment being a determinant of the quality of intakes(both in game and in the real world - evidenced by the high amount of quality foreign youngsters coming through English academies) I would think that it is possible to consistently produce outstanding youth talent with the right structure. I do agree though, that consistently getting players with 180+PA is far fetched but equally having a world class academy and getting consistent runs of sub 160 PA talent seems almost as unlikely.
I don’t get youth intake fr 😂 I’m with Cambridge United, consistently playing in champions league and challenging for the league 1st or 2nd with amazing facilities, staff, etc and just get poor players
A lot of the comments have suggested that intake might actually be broken. Would love to see more consistent results for everyone so that all the time we put into this actually bears fruit!
@@BoiMaam ty sir anything specific to know about it? like needing jimbos skin alongside it? and where can i get it, steam workshop or some other place?
@Chillsaurus no need for anything else but I think you'll be best served by using it for a bit and seeing if it actually makes life easier. I personally like the custom panels on most screens so I can choose to easily access whatever I usually look for. It also has some neat views, including SYC views, which are handy for build a nation saves and FM stag views with some neat analytics. Check out Second Yellow Cards video on the "best fm skin" he's a top-notch fm creator who contributed to the skin. You can find it on Sortioutsi, FMinside and FMscout amongst other places.

@@Chillsaurus I would suggest getting the best one you can on a short term contract ( maybe just for the season) then dump him when you can upgrade. If there isn't much difference between a new HoYD that you can get and your current one, rather just see it out for abit until a decent one becomes available. The existing HoYD should be agreeable to mutually terminate his contract for free or cheap if its the one you started up with.
Only for 1 season. The Golden generation comment from your HoYD tells you that the intake is of great quality. If you have an extremely good intake again, you are likely to see this comment again.
