  • Overcasting. A great (and simple) fashion sewing technique, that can be used to neaten and reduce fraying to raw edges of a fashion fabric and found on seams and other like areas. Hey! Not everybody has, or has access to an overlocker / serger! If you fall into this category, then the overcast stitch is an ideal substitute and expands your ever increasing hand sewing knowledge.

    It is similar but the overcast covers less of the edge than a blanket stitch.

    How does this work on fabric that frays a lot? Fabric like linen or basic Cotten. Is there still fraying but the amount of frayed edges is reduced?

    • @colleenglea
      @colleenglea  3 роки тому +1

      Yes you are right Austin, there is still fraying but it is reduced.

      @@colleenglea Ok! I’ve tried it before practicing the stitch and it was still fraying and I thought I’d done something wrong. I’m going to try it on a garment and see what happens!

      @@nielsenast If you do not what any fraying. The best method would to bind the seams which give them neat and couture finish.
