Very cool of him making the design available for free.
Well done Vincent & other contributors.
What a fantastic project that's obviously had a lot of time, effort put into it, then open to anyone with a 3D printer to try. 👍❤👍
Very cool, Thank you for your contribution to the Coffee & maker community !
I just printed this, it's awesome! BIG UP TO THE CREATOR
Thanks Vincent for sharing your design!
How is this one is soo smooth? I watch other people's videos they sounds like a grinder .
Mine also doesn't run so smooth. But it's doing it's job very well. ... all depends on the printing skills
Would love to just be able to buy this outright.
when will the new version shown in the video be available?? I printed the design on printables and its amazing and very elegant
I'm using this thing for some time now and I still love it :)
The needle holes could be a bit tricky to fit the needles in - but nothing a drill and superglue could not manage :)
This is so cool! Thank you for sharing it. Cant wait to print this sucker
Any chance you will start selling these for those without access to a 3D printer? This tool looks awesome!
I believe they already do their non mechanical version. They released the files for the original one too.
Cost me £40 with postage to do it that way, but I used pteg for the gears, would be a bit cheaper with all pla
I printed it on my Bambu Lab X1 Carbon about three weeks ago and it came out great!
@@EdGodoyPlana Which screws exactly did you use to put all of it together?
Print a funnel as the umikot base that will eliminate another tool
Thank you Vincent!
Thanks for the file. Nice t shirt.
Vincent is great! Amazing tool...
Love this. Any plans for 51mm?
Hey! Thanks so much for this video and for sharing the files for free, that's seriously gnarly of yall. I saw on Printables to use good quality filament. I'm very new to printing-- how can you determine what filaments are good quality? Are there brands we can generally trust? My printer supports PLA and PETG, if you have recommendations for both I'd greatly appreciate it!!
Can I use 30x75mm neddles? It's difficult to find the 35x75mm
Any concerns with food safe material used for printing specifically ?
Nothing from a "home" grade 3D printer is considered directly food safe unless serious precaution are taken. That said the needles are metal and the coffee doesn't directly touch it so it's probably okay.
@@KnowledgePerformance7 As long as the printing edges can be smoothened out I wont worry so much. Its the concern of small particles that might come out after the gears spin for some time due to abrasion / friction.
PETG / PLA is considered foodsafe, what isnt, is the brass nozzle which has lead in it. Replace that with a steel nozzle, and then it should be food safe (as far as I know)@@KnowledgePerformance7
needles are acupuncture needles which I assume are food safe if cleaned regularly. PLA are also food safe (in fact your body makes lactic acid)
It rotates very easily, in other videos it sometimes gets stuck and you have to hold it with your hands
Might need to scale it down to 49mm and give it a try on my la pavoni
does this work with the cafelat robot's basket?
I need to fix my old La Pavoni Hotel V machine :D
I'm trying to print one for the breville dual boiler. Will the base for the portafilter since they have a different pattern than E61.

with all the gears moving and rubbing to each other, is there a chance that plastic particles end up falling down and getting mixed in with the grounds? I thought about this issue and that there is a chance, and feel so that it is a little bit of a concern especially with a 3d printed material more so, I dont think it is solid enough...
If the gears are designed correctly, they shouldn't be grinding. Correctly designed involute gears roll against each other without any relative sliding motion. Of course I have no idea if these are designed in this way, hopefully the designer can comment on the gear shape.
While I can't make any definite claims about food safety, they are proper involute gears and are under very little load, so rubbing/grinding is pretty much a non-issue.
Is there an ETA on when the v2 will be released too, since he says this is the unreleased version so far?
Within the week 😊
pumped! looks so dope!
@@redfoxdude Need testers for v2rc1?
I want to buy this product.
Where can I buy this?
Is it possible to ship overseas?
Will there be more than just 54 mm? I have a 49
Is the latest July 15th file this latest version in this video?
Where can we buy this?
Can we have this but not 3D printed?
hey, could you upload the files for that stand and base? They are missing in the printables link
Nice watch Harry
It's an homage 😂
@@kimoi.coffee hahaha my natural reaction was 'oh these coffee guys in SF..'
@@kimoi.coffee Would you mind if I asked what watch it is? Very nice.
3d printers and coffee. perfect.
What are the gears specs? if i want to remodel
Where can you download the 3D printable files?

51mm version 😢
With which screws did you connect all parts?
Cool to see these innovations, but "affordability" is still relative if people don't have a 3D printer to begin with
There are online services that will print and ship to you
Where I am in Canada you can find people locally offering 3D printing services It's relatively affordable although with a lot of precision parts could be expensive for something like this. Also needs to be high quality prints most likely. Still a lot cheaper than a Moonraker. Some libraries also offer 3D printed for the cost of the materials used.
Yep, I don’t see one on ebay/etsy for less that $40 .
@@guest00791 $60-80 Canadian isn't bad for something like this. But a manual WDT tool for $10-25 will also do the job just fine depending on your own technique with it.
Community based 3D printed copy of the Weber Moonraker. I did a very similar 3D model and put it on printables... but credit should go to Weber for giving that idea.
Weber actually stole the idea from a guy on Thingiverse.

Umikut means “spin” in my language
That is probably not a coincidence. What language is it?
@@BensCoffeeRants filipino
Yep, not a coincidence! I am half Filipino =)
How much does a 58 mm version weigh ? My library charges 15/ gram so trying to figure approximately. Thanks
@@RAH3-f9z you can print things higher or lower density. So the weight can really depend on how solid or high res it needs to be and your preferences.
Doug Weber will not be happy…
Just another way to waste money. Just realised that the tool is free to make but I still think its a waste of money to buy such a tool as sold by Weber, unless someone can do a blind taste test if a simple tool like Cork and pins are just as effective?
"the files are available for free"...
Apologies for my error@@hanswurst3760
No more effective than can be done by hand (i.e. cork and pins). But less time and more repeatable, guess it depends what your time is worth. Also as mentioned, the plans are free and the parts only add a couple of dollars to the cork and pins. I don't drink wine, so this ends up cheaper for me :D
This would give me peace of mind on the distribution variable. Idk what it is but I don’t trust I’m doing manual wdt consistently every time.
