I have had multiple DVTs over the last 6 years, sometimes while on anticoagulants. I have lost mobility and have other symptoms that make it impossible for me to work. However, I was told I waited too long to apply for disability because I thought I would recover. My state is not an expanded Medicaid state. I’ve been told that I have to see a hematologist. My question is: Are there any programs for people who are disabled but do not draw disability that will help someone receive care from a hematologist? My hope is that with proper care, I can retrain to a profession that will be able to accommodate my physical limitations. I’m only 40, which is far too young to stop. At the same time, I don’t know how I can live this way for 40 more years. I think this will kill me sooner than later.
