My officemates actually made fun of me because I have a uniform.
Now, they imitate what I wear.
It’s all about carrying yourself and being comfortable with what you wear.
They now see how my basic white/black Uniqlo dress can do on an everyday basis. Keep on keepin on!

I totally agree. I also work in an IS school and been wearing a classic style for 3 years now. More of it being a uniform, my students see it as my personal branding.
When they talk about fashion and they see someone wearing a sleeveless turtle neck and culottes they automatically think about Ms. Z. It’s heartwarming during Teachers’ Day when they have a day that they copy their favorite teacher and you see a lot of students wearing turtlenecks and culottes in different versions. I feel like I’m Steve Jobs. 😆😆😆 But on a serious note I think it’s a visual representation of how you’ve imparted something in them that they made it their own. 💚
I’m glad that it’s not just me who buys a particular piece of clothing that is exactly the same! Same color, same size, same style. Always take a piece of clothing that is versatile, something that you can dress up and dress down... ❤️

I only recently realized that the "uniform" concept is something i pretty much have done most of my life since hitting puberty. Ive been a tshirt & jeans girl for years and then moved to nice pants & a blouse or dress & leggings for work depending on my mood.
Initially most of the "uniform" proponants were mainly talking about Steve Jobs esque "have five identical of everything." Now some youtubers have explainedit is more of wearing the same "style" everyday than same items everyday. My "uniform" style is being able to wear all my items interchangably but having variety of color and pattern in my tops & dresses with 2 base neutrals for bottoms.

i am also doing this work uniform for 4yrs now. i decided to coz i want to look more professional and not waste time in the am. so good approach esp. if u dont have time to think of your outfit the night before.
This is soooo timely! I currently dont have any work/office clothes and I have been worried about what im going to wear once i start working in the next few months. I love wearing Uniqlo. I have their app and look up for inspiration since most of my clothes are very basic, I have few blouses to rotate with my pants and it is so fun playing with it, cause you'll never go wrong. It was hard being judged before but now everyone is so in love with my Uniqlo outfits, that I almost looked like one in the catalog.

I am also a teacher. In our school, we only have 2 sets of uniforms from mon-thu, what I do on friday is that I picked the same black skirt and collared-blouse... Thanks to you for this inspiration. I really did really save TIME and Money😊

Hi winnie im like you. I really love clothes but im also dying to have a uniform that way itll be easier to pick outfits everyday. Im hoping to do that soon. Your how to be basic series has always been my favorite and since then i narrowed my stuff and kept what i only find useful.
I work in a lab and we dont wear uniforms because we use or i use lab coats on top of it. I think i can do it.

Love the advice! It's so practical and you chose what style looks good on you. It's really great that you're so focused on shopping consciously and put so much thought into your purchases. I myself have a signature style - black leggings and a short dress with simple pumps with a cool jacket or scarf. Weirdly, I'm trying to stay away from black and incorporate more colour into my wardrobe but to each their own! Keep up the great work, really love all your videos!
When I was teaching last year, I got inspired by your video back then when you mentioned you wear uniforms. So from then on, I have some sort of uniform. I didn't get the same exact clothes since already bought the essentials. I stick with one look though black slacks and black blazer. My inner shirt could go for black, blue or white.

I am in a middle of packing my stuff as I will be moving abroad for good. And to be honest I wanted to bring lot of stuff with me stuff I might need or would obly want to use.. then I came up to this vlog. It is very insightful, I realized I dont need lots to make it through a week. keeping in mind its also less stress to be basic. Thanks! I feel ya. Wearing uniforms my whole life, from kindergarten to medical school. And after all that, white coat and scrubs. 😂
Plus it becomes your identity in the office/school. When the someone who don't know you ask "who's ms cactus?" Your colleague will say "The one with the black dress."
So I will definitely do this but I still don't have a job. 😂😂😭😭

Few years ago, when I was.working in a call center, I would just wear a polo shirt from F&H. I bought different colors and.match it with a maong pants. I didn't realize until now that I was doing the "uniform thing" at work. And it really helped me saves time thinking about what to wear especially in a call center industry where sometimes people tend to.be fashionable but I stuck with where I'm comfortable with.
I'm also a teacher and we have wash day every friday while mon-thur is our national uniform (DepEd) we are required to wear a teacher-appropriate clothes and I think I should buy 4 or 5 sets of clothes as my uniform for wash day because there is 4/5 fridays every month. I will surely do this by the start of school year 2019! 🎉

I'm currently trying to do this but not full on uniform. I just have around 5-6 outfits for work, mostly basic cuts and solid colors. This really saves a lot of time in the morning 😅
Here in South Cotabato, we are at risk to drought. It's always sunny and our classrooms are naturally ventilated *as a Green University. I have to wear my pink polo uniform to keep cool aside from it flatters my skintone. During rainy season i have the same design in black. True. I have lesser worries every morning + i have more time to eat my breakfast. Was inspired by your habit Winnie. Thanks!
My work uniform is a navy blue pencil skirt from SM Women's & high neck top from Uniqlo. I just add blazer if I want to be colourful or wear a bright shoes or bag to spice it up. 😊

I also wanted to try this for a long time now since I've been working in the same place for almost 4 years now but never had the guts to try. Mainly because most of the people in my workplace were older than me, like around 30-40 yo. And whenever I would dress up they would tease me and say "uy san binyag?", "san ka magni-ninang?" and etc. You know, usual pinoy response hehe and maybe because they're used to wearing the basics (shirt and jeans) ... so when I try to wear something formal or professional looking ... they'll think I'm being weird kaya I never tried making my own work uniforms na haha. I've been struggling with this! I just started working at an office and honestly I spend so much time choosing what to wear. I'll try this out but with maybe more colour variation.
I kinda have uniform cause i just wear same style of dress bt different print or design, and yes its true that it will save you time and effort in choosing clothes in the morning! And now will try to practice wearing same style and design and print to work as in “uniform” talaga 😊

I love this idea. I'm wondering if you ever had to explain to your coworkers or students why you wear the same thing everyday? If so, what was that like? Also, where I live we have seasons - so I'm not sure I could get away with wearing the same thing all year...any advice on that?
I do this and I have 3 uniforms. But it’s the same structure. My uniform is same five pants and same 3 black cardigans or one long black blazer. For fall and spring is light weight black pants with a silk blouses. ( red, green ,black, navy gold and two that are multi colored) with a long black cardigan or in the winter super cold days cashmere turtleneck in different colors with 5 thicker black pants with blazer. In summer same light weight black pants with white, black navy or nude camisole tops and light long cotton cardigan. I teach as well in in a city with 3 seasons and the weather is very different so my wardrobe has to be flexible. But my pants and cardigan remain the same. I wear Chelsea boot or , sandals depending on weather . My tops match the weather. I love the creativity of getting dressed and usually plan the night before(5 minutes) so it takes me exactly 15 minutes in the morning to shower get dressed , do make up , make coffee and head out.

I love wearing uniform in work, it really saves up a lot of Money in terms of clothing. I am wearing Barong Tagalog in colors to make it more modern
For 5 years, i have a sort of uniform. But, i have 5 sets of different outfits. One for each day of the week. So its like a dress on monday, blouse and trousers on tuesday and so on. So the set repeats every week. This way, i can distinguish which is my work clothes and going out clothes but can also have variety.

I am also a teacher and back when I am teaching preschool we also have uniform and It helps the kid identify us from other people or staff in school. I actually dreaded friday because I have to look for what to wear because its a wash day. Haha

Seems like a great idea at first, honestly wouldn’t mind my colleagues’ remarks about how I wear the same outfit everyday, but I wouldn’t say the same about my clients though. I think it would be a little bit damaging to my image and the company’s. I work in finance and I wouldn’t want my clients to think that I’m cheap or lazy.
Quite a pity though. As you say, it’s a great idea to save time and money and stay focused on work.
If you pick the right outfit people wouldn’t think you are cheap and if you present yourself well (confidence, fix your hair) they also wouldn’t think your lazy. Lazy is a characteristic, it isn’t attributed to what you wear, it’s about how you do your work. You can wear that best clothes but if you don’t do your job well, people will think you’re lazy either way.
Penelope Pop thank you for you reply. I agree with you, clothes don’t define your professionalism - I’d even say that some people are really lazy and don’t want to work even though they wear $40.000 suits.
But well many clients don’t have the same standards as mine and think that if you’re in finance, you’re wealthy, so you have to wear brands and expensive clothes. For those clients, the richer you look, the faster they will trust you.
Anyway, I found an alternative: Im thinking of assigning an outfit to a day of the week, so I can still save some time and money and be as productive as possible. 👌🏻
How can you wear all black but still looks soooo professional? When I wear it, I look like I am going to a funeral, or its just what people around me think or say. 😂😂
Try navy, brown/beige or charcoal grey. Black is also far too harsh for my skin tone.
