I've made several pairs of Acacia undies which is a free pattern by Meagan Nielsen. I've added to the rise by a couple of inches. As a bonus, I use scraps so my undies match my t-shirt. If I ever end up in the hospital maybe I'll get priority treatment 😂
I’ve recently started sewing my own undies and I agree that they’re superior to the ones I’ve found in stores. It’s one of the few sewing projects that’s cheaper than buying ready to wear, too. Thanks for the product links! The info on elastic was very helpful.
You have such a happy face and enthusiasm making these panties that I thought I'd give them a try. You're right. They are fabulous. I hate elastic at my leg. I put my first pair on as soon as I finished them and I was sold. They felt so good I was in heaven. My husband knows I hate the elastic and he channelled me to a company that made underwear for $26 a pair. What a win making them from the leftover stash. Thank you so much for this review and all the info in the info box below. Valuable. And now I too have a happy face.
Hi, might it be possible to show the actual sewing next time? Would love to see how it was done with the cover stitch and serger. Thank you for the tutorials.
Thank you! I've been meaning to make underwear for a while now. I picked up cotton lace and i have lots of bits of scrap cotton fabrics stashed for this purpose. I'll have to give this a try soon.
Thank you very very much! I have been wanting to make my own panties but didn't know where to begin. The only pair that I have here at home was bought at my local grocery store. I'm a mother of four and a grandmother of seven and I really do not need or wear those cutesy ones that a teenager might like but I'm also not wanting to wear the kind that my grandmother wore. This video was perfect. Now I need to find a bra pattern because I am allergic to the stretch lycra at the sides of the ones I have and I spend all day itching and feeling miserable. Thank you again for this video.
Try a tailored corset hun. They were worn for a very long time for a reason and they give all the right support in all the right places. You can make them out of material you aren’t allergic to and they also support your back. ❤
I love your teaching style. I've made the Kiki. I absolutely love this pattern. I tried the Primrose Dawn patterns too. I'm thinking about trying the cutie boxer briefs by P4P. Anyway, this motivates me to continue to make while me made underwear collection. Thank you for the tutorial ❤️😊
Great video Kim,but i would have loved to see how to put the gussets together.I am wanting to make my first pair,as you say they are getting so expensive to buy.xx
Thanks for this great video on the Kiki briefs ! I had a little trouble with the elastic size. I made the Sew Projects Poppy knicker ,great tutorial, then the Scrappy knicker from sew daily . SO HAPPY TO SEW MY OWN PANTY’s.
I traced off an existing pair of underwear, and that is what I have been using. It was a day of days when I cut up my ex’s t-shirts and made underwear from them. He kisses my butt everyday! Underwear should be comfortable and functional. But sometimes, it can also be a “statement” piece in the wardrobe too!
I’m underweight and really a size 4 in underwear. So many I had purchased in the smallest size 5 ( no size 4 I could find) I had to wear a belt to hold up my size 5’s, so much ease where there’s not supposed to be. I’m not to fussy, but I can’t wear lace, makes me itch up a storm. Last resort, I was at Walmart and tried fruit of the loom low rise, it was an 8 pack for $8.50! Omg they fit me like a glove! Because I’m underweight, they’re not low rise on me. I went back and bought 4 packs because I love them so much. I cannot make them for that price. I don’t need anything fancy. Since inflation, they’re $10 but I still can’t make them for that price. I live by the saying “ if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”
I love the Kiki briefs too!! It took some trials for me to get the fit right (shortened the gusset 1" and added 1/4" to the back) but now I love them! I also make the control band but want to try some low rise ones for my teen daughter. Not sure how small they go though 🤔
First of all, we always said this when I was growing up and I wasn’t sure if anyone else did. 🤣 “I see London, I see France…” Second, thank you for doing this. I bought an underwear pattern by apostrophe patterns but not sure why I am so hesitant to just sew some up. The aqua pair that you have, is there power mesh in that one? Those look very comfy.
I didn’t put it in that pair. I put a panel in the beige colored one bc I wanted it to be a shaper. Yes, the aqua colored ones are very comfy! Cotton Lycra
I really like the Kiki undies with the fixed gusset. Is there an advantage in placing the power mesh inside 2 layers of the knit: I have just used it for the lining.
That particular pattern the Kiki parities by Sinclair Patterns has an option for just binding the legs with the fabric rather than using elastic- this is extremely comfortable and is my method of choice
I’ve been making undies since the beginning of my sewing journey and I hope to make them as long as I can. I’m team picot for leg opening. I want to be “held in” and snug. Do you feel the Sinclair self or same fabric around leg bands does this for you? Thanks for a great video Kim. 💗
Great video your absolutely right I am definitely a tom boy but it's so nice to be feminine when I want it's good for well being feeling sexy and beautiful starting at the foundation thank you for the great video 🎉🎉
Hello.... I'm interested in making my own panties, but unfortunately some of your instructions were out of frame during the close up. But I enjoyed it needless to say.😊
Wow! I found someone who "gets" me. Question - when you say, lightweight "cotton jersey," (at 20:49) do you mean 100% cotton? Or do you mean 95% Cotton / 5% Spandex? Thank you for making this video and listing your supply sources. 🙂
Um, can this be redone? I’m getting a nice view if the elastic box and the zip loc baggie that hold, I think, lace. Ooh I saw you fiddle with pink elastic and elastic lace. I’m hoping the sew along are done better. I’m stopping this at the start of the first pair
Was the 2nd pair, beige, also cotton Lycra? It looked like it might have some nylon in it. I used to make my 4 girls panties years ago. I used a stretch n sew pattern. Wish I hadn’t gotten rid of them.
Sorry....I believe you skipped the construction for the waistband at 24:42~24:45 into the video. I'm still puzzled how that waistband was sewn together.
I showed in the video getting it prepared for the serger. After that, I simply serged the seam like any other you would do at the serger. Here is a link to a basic serger video. I hope it helps. Please reach out if you need more help. ua-cam.com/video/mc0vhM8OMUI/v-deo.htmlsi=_lclUpzOpBc_e0wC

As a retired RN, I can categorically say you’ll receive priority treatment if your bra and undies match 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thank you! Glad you like them!
Thanks for the info on the Kiki pattern, which would solve my problem of allergy to elastic!!!
First time ive seen your channel and I just love your personality and authenticity ❤
Thank you so much!!

I have all the patterns put together! But never tried! Now I will make some! Kim thanks for the tutorial 😀

Thank you for sharing Girl Charlee. Prices are higher, but what isn't 😅
I love it and I will check out these patterns and I will be making some also for my teenage granddaughter
Hi Kim. I have made the KiKi briefs, but found them a bit too 'substantial' for me. I will definitely try the Fierce. Thank you
Thank you for this! I’m thinking of making some shapers! Take care. Going back and rewatching lots of videos!!!

Thank you for the help making panties.
I enjoyed this tutorial so much! Thank you Kim, it was fun and so inspiring. Great job!!!!
Tilly and the Buttons has a cute everyday undies pattern too we call them knickers lol. xx
Great video, Kim, thanks :)
Thank you for this video. Would you consider doing a similar one for bras? Thank you again!
i need to make some lol happy for the tutorial
I love the Kiki briefs too!! It took some trials for me to get the fit right (shortened the gusset 1" and added 1/4" to the back) but now I love them! I also make the control band but want to try some low rise ones for my teen daughter. Not sure how small they go though 🤔
I would like to learn how to make tummy control undies. I love your video.
That was great, thanks. I have both your recommended patterns and am ready to make my first pair!
I make all my panties. My favorite pattern is the Feeling Frisky panties by Ellie & Mac
That is a great pattern too. It doesn’t fit me right, but I’m really glad that there are so many out there for all our body types!
New sub. Tysm!

We said it, too, but I can’t remember if it was to jumping rope or what. Too many years ago! I turned 70 and sometimes the brain turns to mush!
🤗🤗🤗

What is the self leg band you mentioned around the 12 minute mark?

You are so correct about undies making you feel feminine.
I’m so sad Girl Charlie closed their online store in England xx
Great video your absolutely right I am definitely a tom boy but it's so nice to be feminine when I want it's good for well being feeling sexy and beautiful starting at the foundation thank you for the great video 🎉🎉
Hello.... I'm interested in making my own panties, but unfortunately some of your instructions were out of frame during the close up. But I enjoyed it needless to say.😊
I love Stitch Upon A Time Scrundies, Bunzies and Frisky’s. They have a thong option too but I am long past that stage of life.

I was referring to all cotton, but you could use either. The spandex would have more stretch recovery, but the cotton would be more breathable
@@dorothysdaughtersewsIt's almost impossible to find 100% cotton jersey knit anymore.

It was cotton lycra except for the powernet that I inserted in the waist panel in the front
Was the beige pair also cotton Lycra?
Is the lace elastic
Yes it is stretch elastic
The title of this .made me laugh. It's snowing down south for those who don't know, means your slip is showing. And yeah I'm a baby boomer.
Glad someone got it- I was worried no one would

Such a shame that the camera was not framing the action. Could not really see what was being talked about.
Oh my goodness. Am I the only one worried about her burning her hand on the iron during the second pair of underwear? Yikes! But I love the video!
I’m worried about her burning her hand the whole time she was showing that tan underwear to you? Comfort a little bit.😮
