Five baby cheetahs are orphaned by poaching. It is a miracle they all survive. The Kevin Richardson Foundation and Dinokeng Game Reserve stepped in to give these cubs a second chance with the ultimate goal - returning them to the wild. Join us in making history and see how YOU can be part of The Miracle 5 story.
We are looking for 800 people to give $5 per month. If 800 people give just $5 a month, that’s $1 per cub each month, we can ensure the BEST care for these cheetah cubs for 2 years. This is a huge job, but if we form a global tribe that becomes these cubs’ surrogate family, we can do it.

The cubs were found only because mom had a GPS collar on and the diligent, caring crew were alert and acted quickly. If mom wasn't wearing a collar, they would all be dead. I think of all the uncollared moms out there, the youngsters striking out on their own, the transient males....they are all in grave danger from the poachers. Kevin does important work.

I just have no words to express how sad this is. The pain that poor mumma cheetah went through in her last moments is unimaginable. How can anyone do this. It’s beyond abhorrent

The sad truth is, many poachers are poachers simply due to economic hardships while trying to support their families. It’s awful and I’m not defending them, but it’s truly an awful position for all involved, most of all the animals. =[

It breaks my heart to think of how their Mama suffered, and to think of people out there capable of such inhumane cruelty... But to think her miracle babies are being well looked after, and will live at a safer place than their Mama, being protected by those good gentleman, is a comfort to me.

I joined the monthly 2 year program. You had me as soon as I heard the word rewilding. Excited to be a part of their journey although it will be tough I believe it can be done. Seeing their mother in that horrible condition-skinned and thrown like garbage broke my heart. I am sorry Momma Cheetah you were treated in such a foul way. Your cubs will be given a chance for success. Thank you Kevin for allowing me to be a part of helping them.

This is heartbreaking. I am new to the channel. Just makes me want to cry, I rescue and help cats on the street which can be very upsetting but this is beyond upsetting. I will be donating as well we must stop this. 😢

Find out why they are poaching in the first place. The answer isn't always obvious.
The biggest issue is that poachers thenselves are usually men trying to make a living for their families. If there we're more legitimate jobs available poaching wouldn't be as lucrative. Also China has a huge exotic meat market idk why they're not getting sanctions for contributung to declining wild animal species.

Cheetahs are one of my favorate too. Hope their numbers will increase.
Cheetahs just wove their way into my heart over this last year, courtesy of the endless stream of nature docs, docuseies, and documovies that were my lockdown lifeline.
Cheetahs are beautiful to be sure, and the combination of human encroachment, poaching, species endangerment, genetic bottlenecks, low reproductive and cub survival rates; *might* all have had something to do the growing respect.
But what really sealed the deal on the cheetah-love, was the ever-increasing sympathy toward them and ever-increasing annoyance toward every other predator... (Yes, even the lovely lions xD) for forever stealing cheetah kills and making them have to hunt as many of 3 times over just to get themselves a decent meal!
It's truly wonderful that, despite the horrific murder of their mother, these 5 precious cubs will be given as solid a start as possible while they prep for a life in the wild. 🐆🐆🐆🐆🐆
They will need it! Because cheetahs, stunning kitties that they are; are also serious underdogs!
I signed for the 2 yrs the other day (though sadly missed being among the 800) but will be looking forward to watching them grow and progress.
PS: The future direction they've inspired for the sanctuary when sounds amazing! More than that though, it sounds... right. 👌

Update: Hubs & I committed $25/month for the two years in Honor of our fur babies - Tebow, Tiki Girl and my sweet boy Asher who crossed Rainbow Bridge July, 2020. I miss him sooo much still - he was my “soul” fur baby. Now our babies can help other fur babies in the world. When I was a really young kid I had two "favourite" animals - the giraffe and the cheetah...Growing up, I found that it was impossible to have a favourite animal as each and every one is so unique, beautiful and special...But somehow, the cheetah has always retained a soft spot in my heart...I am so sorry these beautiful cheetah cubs lost their mom, and I am so sorry she died such a horrible death. But the hope is their for these little cubs - I wish them well on their journey! Thanks so much to the KV foundation for stepping in!
