100% agreed. Let alone in the long term, even slightly ITM and OTM options in India have liquidity issues even in the current month for most of the stocks (Now with the DNE being scrapped again from April 2023, this is even more of a problem).
I was thinking of doing a 17,000 short straddle in nifty for the Dec 2023 expiry but now, given what you have said about the liquidity and time decay, I have decided against it. I am a retail trader and I don't have boatloads of cash like the big boys to do adjustments. If any of my options become illiquid, I'll be royally screwed.

You have to do IC in the month of Jan or just before budget for Dec expiry...
If you know the art of adjusting you will make money....
Yes margin is on the higher side and liquid issue is there , but it not to the extent of un-tradeable
