    Good morning Dana, I'm embarrassed to admit that I tried the stars yesterday and tried to size to a star 3" inches for the long piece and 1 and a half inches for the short and it didn't work 😭 🤣 I used 16x20 pine edging ? Any thoughts ? Paul 👊💥🍺

    What can you do if you don't have a brad nailer? It's glue strong enough?

    • @RickMorgan-f3w
      @RickMorgan-f3w 2 місяці тому

      I’m new at doing this myself, but I know that the wood glue is NOT strong enough to hold the star together. You have to ( Brad ) nail it together. The glue helps keep it stronger.

    Draw a circle on paper with compass and divide into 5points around circumference .join dots then measure inside these lines the thickness of wood .then measure lenghts you need .alter the size of the circle to suit.

    Need help. I set my board at 24degrees from the fence and miter base at 30 an I got no where 54 degrees. More like 35. I then switched the board to 24 degrees from the 30 degree from the angled cut on the base board. Cut again wit miter set at 30. Got worse down close to 24 degrees. I then thought what if I bring the base back to 90 and make a cut. It came up 54. I know that is the magic number we are looking for however I would like to learn what I did wrong on your jig instructions!!
    I am sending pictures accordingly!!

      The jig was 90 degrees to start with and I glued and screwed my board on there at 24 degrees. I then put the jig up against the fence and set my miter to 30 degrees and cut the end of the jig where the 24 meets the blade at a 30 degree angle giving me a total of 54 degrees. Hopefully this makes sense. If not let me know.

    You shop location is the most similar to mine. Curious to know what dust collection if any you have. Basement shops need a bit more love with dust collection. I do have a large door to the outside near my work space but Id rather keep them closed if possible.

      I have a 70 gallon, 2 hp central machinery dust collector from harbor freight. I’ve had it for about ten years and it is still going strong

    what size did you trim them down width wise

    I would think it would be easier the nail 36 degrees together first then the 54 degree

    what angels go together?

    • @WoodworkingwDana20479
      @WoodworkingwDana20479  Рік тому

      Put the 36 degree angles together so they form a v with a short and a long. Once you get 5 of those then attach your short end to your long end and it should form the star.
