The cows looking at the drone, like "What wizardry is this!?!?!?!" HAHAHA!!! That wind burst may have given you a heart attack, but it did produce great footage! Great video, as always.
I don't know why I keep thinking this is a hobby (maybe because I love animals and want to pet them), but then I slow down and think, this is a business and not a petting zoo, anyway, your videos are always educational and entertaining, great work.
Hey Mike, glad the drone is still in one piece...great idea with starting the kids there own herd, and reaping the bounty. Take care, glad the snow missed you
Hi Mike! Thanks for explaining BANGS...I had forgotten about that. Great reflexes on the Drone to get it down quick...man a Semi running over it would only require a dust pan and a whisk broom. All in all the spring is going pretty smoothly...knock wood. See you in a couple of days. Terry - Justin TX
I noticed you have a covered wagon!!! (without the cover) That is so awesome! I have thought for years that it would be cool to make one. I have researched a little how they used to build them. The tricky part is the wheels. I'm a little jealous... LOL! I guess you could call it "wagon envy" hahaha!!
We will have more coming about the wagons. There are a few, Gilbert started collecting them later in his life and we still have 4 of them around. I bring them out in the spring and put them around the yard. Thanks Jerry for noticing - Mike
When I found out we shared the same birthday, I figured he was probably a pretty cool guy. Now I find out he liked wagons, he was definitely a cool guy! LOL!! I look forward to knowing more about the wagons.
Mike my heart would of been racing as well. Thanks goodness it didn't crash and you got it down safely and were able to find quickly before it became roadkill. Glad to here everything seems to be going well from reading the comments. Are you having a calf every day? how many more are you expecting this year. Always glad to see a new video from you. Its kind of like a life update from a good friend living far away. Have a great week. Tell Erin and the kids hello. God Bless!!!
Thank you sir, we still have a long way to go. We are averaging about 1 a day now, we had 3 the other day but its slowed down again. We still have over 140 to go. Erin says hi, the kids want to know where nashville is. lol Thanks - Mike
Never a dull moment on the ranch! Good save on the drone. I gotta brag: the carcass of the cow my neighbor and I raised yielded 423lbs. of beef!! Guess what I'm having for dinner, lol.
Chuck roast. I gave most of the steaks to my neighbor, who's raising young kids on a budget and who eats a lot more hamburger than T-bones, lol. I'm taking most of the "white trash" cuts: ribs, shanks, the tongue -- the cuts that used to be dirt cheap until they got "discovered" on the Food Channel.
Hello, I just found your channel and it is AWESOME!!! Keep them coming sir. Have a great day and may God Bless you and your family!!! BTW greetings from Chicago.
Haha! Now there’s anxiety that ranchers of yesteryear wouldn’t have had to deal with.....drones! Recent subscriber Mike. I love cattle and vegetable gardening ~ perfect fit, I’d say. We live in a rural Town Southwestern Ontario, Canada Really enjoy the videos - have a great day
Mike do you with the wind blowing the steers and heifers were aware of the drone? Good job, until someone as tried sorting cattle they can not know how good of job you did alone! Well done sir!
Thank you Steve, I am a big fan of going slow with them, especially when I am by myself. When I had them in the corral they did seem to notice it, but once they were in the sorting pen they didnt pay it any mind. - Mike
Only way to do it is slow and easy unless you want a train wreck. Just about gotten in fights with people that were loud and rough. Thanks again for your time Mike. ,,,
Yes we have, someday in the future I'm sure we will get one. Right now we still have the dog that we moved to the ranch with, she is getting old and wont tolerate a puppy around but someday. Thanks - Mike
That's part of the reason I don't want to get a drone. The wrong weather or any slight complications and you've wasted several hundred dollars! But, I'm glad your's didn't break. As usual great video!
MIKE VERY GOOD VID I WOULD LIKE TO START A PLACE OF MY OWN JUST A GENTLEMENS FARM BUT @ 74 NOT A VERY GOOD THING TO DO SO KEEP THE VIDS COMING THANK YOU JIM SEABROOK NH.
Yes it would have been roadkill. Peacock is doing well, I just checked on him actually. I'm sure he is ready to be back inside again but that rain turned to snow and its icky again. Twins are doing good as well, still with their mom but in the corral so she cant get too far from them. Thanks Calum - Mike
You're Drone looked like it was going to be Road Kill !!! Or a hood Ornerment for a Mack! Your coral System looks like it was thought out very carefully Mike is there a sort of standard patern for them ?Regards David
Hi good 🌃 night Mike and Erin thanks for the notification, glad to be here Everything on point, the ranch seem to be doing well all the animals look well. Thanks for sharing. 👋 bye. 🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐔🐔🐔🐓🐓..
Doesnt seem to bother them too much, I dont get really low over them or anything and they are kind of used to it at this point. Thanks for watching - Mike
Just depends on the year really. Never a set percentage though. Lots comes down to what a bull can take care of and we will sometimes keep as many as 25 Thanks - Mike
Mike, Here are some suggestions for a very easy maggot feeder for your chickens. ua-cam.com/video/4z2ZuF0XZQw/v-deo.htmlm43s small 5 gallon simple maggot bucket. My friend said when he was a boy they had a flower pot (one of those black cheap plastic ones) that they suspended from a string in the hen coup, added an inch or two of soil, and they'd just throw all their meat scraps into that. The flies and other carnivorous insects get in there, lay eggs, and then the maggots eventually fall out. He told me that after maggots started to regularly fall out, the smarter chickens started to just sit under it all day scrambling for fresh bugs as they hit the ground. bsf feeder for the chickens. I have looked at those, look pretty fancy, Erin was all for it until she saw the price tag lol Thanks - Mike

Doesnt seem to bother them too much, I dont get really low over them or anything and they are kind of used to it at this point. Thanks for watching - Mike
Is there a stream this week
No livestream this week, next week there will be however. Thanks - Mike
How many days does it take to sort yearlings? Did everything go right during calving? Nobody slipped a calf?
That was just today. I stopped to check cows a couple of times. No problems though. Thanks -Mike
Mike, do you have a percentage that you use to sell vs keep for breeding for heifers?
Just depends on the year really. Never a set percentage though. Lots comes down to what a bull can take care of and we will sometimes keep as many as 25 Thanks - Mike
Nows The time that dog would be a great help. My two dogs are my greatest help.
Someday we will go that direction, our dog we have now is getting old and probably wont tolerate another dog around. Thanks - Mike
What is cost of vac for Bangs these days
Great video mike. Who needs to go to the gym got cardio. When your a rancher and filming for UA-cam 😁
No kidding I've been running all day. Thanks Kory -Mike
If that calf had stepped on your drone instead of just smelled it, would she have been hamburger for tomorrow's dinner?
Haha. Maybe but Erin would have done it when I told her I need a new drone. I would have been on the grill too hahaha
Make sure you have a small grill. An ounce of prevention and all that
