You should theoretically get better perf with the plastic part of the AR glued down compared to removing it since there’s more open space in the blaster for air pressure to lessen and it’s not as directed to the dart than if you kept the AR plastic in.
I like to cut an elite dart in.half and put the end with no tip in the barrel and then put a half length dart in and fire. It maybe adds like 5 to 10 fps to the blaster
For the little piece you can just go in there and pull really hard on it using a pair on pliers and it should come out as long as you pull it super hard

How would one go about modding a jolt to shoot short darts as well, I feel a 90fps short dart jolt would be a sick backup pistol. I’ve never modded a nerf gun before and I think this could be a cool hobby

I've got three Jolts. No 1 is standard, No 2 has a "Double Power Spring" from eBay an No 3 has the standard spring without air restrictor. No 1 is OK, No 2 seems even weaker and No 3 performs best. I changed the No 2 plumber with the stronger spring to No 3 without air restrictor. But with the same result: The stronger spring is shooting the darts with less speed. But how can this be? What do you think?

Hmm, perhaps the O-ring is worn reducing air pressure. Even a Brand Spanking New Plunger isn't 100% Sealed which is why modders put a layer of tape (electrical?) around the O-ring. Also a Jolts Barrel is shorter than a Full size dart so it's not very efficient at accelerating Darts which is why Half Size darts work better. My other guess is Nerf doesn't wanna get sued for selling a $5 Eye Poking Foam Blaster to 5 year olds so they do there best to make there product suck for Adults.
Gotta love the Jolt! I used a hammer, screwdriver, and needle nose pliers. Hammered out the post and extra plastic, and yanked out the air restrictor with the pliers!
On microshots, if you crack them open, you can actually find a little grey jolt inside. It doesn't hsve logos and it kinda looks like a Luger. Yeah, I tried the mod on that one and it worked great. It hurts more. I don't have a chronograph 😑.
You can literally crack a microshot open and you'll literally get a jolt. No paint tho. No logos too. Just a jolt with no cosmetics. It does hve screws though. I can send Imgur link if u reply.
Removing the air restrictor seemed to cut down my power by at least 25%..... WHich is about how much I gained with a new spring..... Now I gotta buy another jolt and put the spring I bought into that to gain back what it gave me in power or I wasted my money.
i really got a nerf blaster that shoots above 300 fps. but its a lynx not a jolt... i think 250 fps would be possible with a jolt but only if its a hpa jolt.

Hi i was curious.... i use a chrono like yours... i have been testing averages but sometimes the reading runs away.... for example i will shoot a dart and the chrono will say 500fps.... or 224 fps.... now i know my blaster, even modded cant shoot that hard... but sometimes the darts dont register or it runs away... any advice? Thanks
Hmm, can you recalibrate it? I don't know exactly how these things work (IR light and Camera) but if that's not an option, then you'll have to resort to Phone Camera and a Imperial Ruler. Oh Phone Camera you ask? Yeah most Phones have Slow Motion Recording. :)

Really the best way is like in this video, with the exception of adding in a harder spring, but with harder spring comes failure quicker.

I dont, we tend to see that putting a stronger spring in these leads to more issues then what it provides.

Give you a little more FPS (feet per second), and gives you a more consistent shot.
