I attended this show. It was so heavy. Seemed like everyone was just floored. Thank you very much for sharing this and other shows from The Abyss. My friends and I used to drive up from Corpus to check them out. Cheers!
Saw them at the Milwaukee Metal Fest in the summer of 1998 with the same line up (I will die happy knowing that I got to experience the tail-end of the awesome 90s DM scene). Suffocation, Cryptopsy, Deaden, Crowbar, Incantation, Bloodstorm, Death, Emperor, Mayhem, Mortician, Six Feet Under, Pessimist, Lividity, etc!!
This must have been during that lul Death Metal hit in the late 90s. I've seen (since they got back together) this band in Texas 20 times now and every show I ever went to was packed and people going nuts. I would have shit myself if I got to see this lineup tho, always been my favorite lineup.
I know Hobbs used an Ibanez RG (or was it RX one of the budget models) back in the 90s during the time of the first three Suffo albums but this is the first time that I've seen him using what appears to be a Washburn Nuno or an ESP strat body model of some sort.
I was. It was awesome. That venue was legendary. I ran into a tour manager a few years ago, he had been in that venue a few times and he still remembered the place.
@@rf-cattleprod6207 fucking badass man! Went to I-Ball a few times before it also closed, thankfully. Saw Opeth open for God Forbid at the Engine Room in '01. That was pretty schweet. Tbh I wish I could have experienced Houston from mid 80s to mid 90s with all the br00tal metal shows here. \m/

My old band opened this show. What a fucking honor it was to open before these masters.
Really? I was there but I have forgotten who else played. Viral Load? Prophecy? Devourment? Crucifixion?
@@rf-cattleprod6207 My band Primeval went first...followed by an amazing, ahead of their time, local death metal band, Crucifixion...then Suffocation.
@@jbenrn Dude, we know each other.

@@maxeypad I left town about 15 years ago. Got tired of it all. Still love looking back.
Hmm... guess them Texas cowboys weren't into moshing...
That floor was notoriously slick. A little bit of beer, water or sweat and down you went.
I was there ?
