    English translation for you all :
    Adèle : Should we really get mad on live TV ? [mime] You're gonna back off, yeah ?
    title : the plot
    Noémie : A young woman painter is commissioned to do the wedding portrait of Heloise and an artistic and romantic collaboration will bloom
    title : shooting in costume
    Noémie : right away, it helps to get into the character with the corset, the weight of the dresses...
    title : having pockets in 1770 ?
    Noémie : pockets really existed at that time, they disappeared after
    Adèle : It may sound anecdotal, but it's actually a symbol. Having pockets is just a way to put things in your pockets, to have your hands free so you can do things. It's a way to control women's bodies, once again.
    title : female painters in history
    Adèle : Before the French Revolution there was a fashion for portraiture which meant that there were a lot of women painters. Afterwards there was the French revolution (in which women participated a lot) and then they were brought back to order.
    Noémie : All these women painters, there was a lot of activity at that time. But they never went down in history because we made sure of it.
    Adèle : And it actually doesn't make any sense because we're always saying things that are a bit vague. We say "we've forgotten" when it's the patriarchy that deliberately ignored the gender struggle to make it a-historical and in this sense make it apolitical and naturalize it. So it's not that we have forgotten, it's that patriarchy has used that to ensure that as women we don't have a history and we don't have any models. Women or women and men are not ontological beings, truths that would be the same at all times and in all places, they are constructions. Today we build what it is to be a woman of the future. It's by taking away our history that we're denied that possibility.
    title : a political movie
    Adèle : The film is political but not in the form of a leaflet. It's political in an almost comic form. Not to tell people "give rights to women" etc.. But in fact, if they stop preventing us to live, it's just so easy and it's an almost comic thing in the movie. We know that the world prevents us from doing that but it turns out that there we have an enchanted parenthesis in which we live it. And the order under which we have always lived, that is to say patriarchy (we are objects destined to be married, and daughter of, and wives of) is questioned. Because in fact, we know how to live, and from the moment the order is challenged, the social order is also questionable and any form of static order is questionable.

      I'm French, but what she says doesn't make sense for me. I mean, she doesn't reply to the question about the film, but instead fail to articulate some "feminist" non-hisotrical and paranoid topics.
      Anyway the film is good, despite some deficiencies.

      @Geoffinho 2 роки тому

      @@vin_rouge180 In the itw Adele Haenel describe it as a patriarcal move : removing pockets from women's clothes was a way to control their body by preventing them to have their hands free. Why not. Im just saying that nowaday, women pants usually have smaller pocket than the equivalent for men. Idk why but I think the idea is still to prevent the use of these pockets but for aesthetical reasons.

    It's a very, very simple movie... It's pleasing to watch, but the narrative, the symbolic context and the plotline is not nuanced enough to be a good film. I think it's overrated, maybe it's good for the cause, but i think it's a shallow movie, predicatible actions and not incommon point of view. Overrated as fuck.
