Say you game 6 hours a day every day for a month. Thats $225 a month. Say you game 6 hours a day every day for a year. thats $2700 a year. you game 5 years and then grow bored of the games. So you buy new games. Thats almost $14k thousand dollars. You can buy a used mercedes c class for much cheaper. Plus internet and electricity costs.

So I guess I'm in the .2% :D, but it's not worth it. You could just go buy a used graphics card for like 150 bucks and it'll definitely be worth it instead of spending $150 for only 120 hours worth of gaming. In fact, I did a quick search on Amazon and there's a brand new GTX 1050 for sale for about $130. Performance is half of a GTX 1060 but you'll it's definitely enough for most games out there, plus you don't have to worry about latency.

Well for about 1.14 dollar a hour you can rent a quad m60 box on aws. Its about the same as 4x 970s in mining(full units but clocked lower). So your making about 30 dollars a day right now with 27.36 in costs a day. So a slight profit. But mining profits change every day. You can also get a big discount on aws to about .7 dollars a hour if you rent that box for the next year, but no one knows where pricing will go.
Fun fact: Back in 2013, they accepted me as a beta tester for their first generation of this program, to use their VM service of GPU's in the cloud. After testing things like Faceworks, UA-cam, and all the other demos included, I decided to try running CGminer to mine Dogecoins on their servers. It crashed their system, and they permanently banned me, then restricted their Beta acceptance.
So yeah, it is possible. Especially if it were to be ran via some sort of tunnel, but with monitoring on spike usage, I don't think they have to worry about that.
Isn't the price for GeForce now $25 for 20 hours of gaming? Personally, I play about that much per week, so for a given year, it adds up to (conservative guess, not factoring increased play during holidays) 52 weeks * $25 = $1300/ year. Given a traditional gaming PC that costs that much lasts between 2-3 years for most people before upgrading the GPU for $500-700 or so, if argue that GeForce now is a terrible value at its given price. It's definitely a cool idea, but prices be to go down by a lot for it to be viable for some people like me.
CorerMaximus If you build a 1,000$ computer that only last 2-3 years then something is wrong lol. I spent 650$ For my PC 5 years ago and got a 750 ti and an i7 3770. I just upgraded from a 750 ti to an RX 580 8GB for 250$ before this Damn mining craze started and my old i7 3770 isn't a bottleneck for it at all. I'm actually able to games play games at 120 hz now if I mess around with the settings at 1080p.

Geforce Now isn't exactly targeting hardcore gamers like you but casual gamers instead who will maybe play 3 hours on the weekend. Those people don't want to miss out on the latest AAA games but just don't play that often to justify a 1000$ gaming rig.

The best graphics card is going to be better than this, because they are renting out gaming computers, they're going to need cheaper parts (like a 1050). However a better way to go is Nvidia Moonlight which you can stream your own 1080 TI and cpu for $1500 instead of paying them $60 a week for streaming on their "new netflix"

It uses this revolutionary thing called 'Broadband' or an 'Internet Connection' which magically streams the game to your computer at a high frame rate (if you have decent internet unlike my nan who has 0.0001 Megabyte download and 0 upload)

eh i mainly play it to play with my friends to be honest. same thing goes for overwatch (though, i'm not the absolute worst at that game), when they all stopped playing that and moved on i followed suit. with competitive games like them, for me it's just about the experience with friends rather than the game itself.
except splatoon/spla2n, those games are fun even when playing solo for me.

If the price is $1 for 1 hour, and you play for 6 hours a day, everyday of the week, for 6 to 7 months you would have spent around $1000. You are better off saving money and buying a new desktop computer.
GEForce NOW has changed my life. I have a laptop barely able to run certain games, and I have a PC that can run those games better...but still with issues. Now that I have GEForce NOW, I can play some of the games I have wanted to play well for a long time on my laptop on full settings. It will be an adaptive phase once Nvidia starts charging money.

The thing that sucks is that it's dominated by Nvidia. I have a similar thing called Blade Shadow (should be coming to the states this year) and it allows me to stream a PC partition from a data center with an Nvidia 1080, 12 gigs ram and i7 processor. That way I can play anything on Ultra with 120 frames per second on my macbook air. You need a 15 mb/s connection to have HD but it can work from 4 mb/s and it's just like having your own high-end PC wherever you go.
That sounds good but it will probably fail just like LiquidSky right now. It sounded great at start, and now nobody is interested in that anymore.

For everyone who is saying they don't have a good enough internet connection to use geforce now (or other cloud gaming services); chances are you have the requirements.
You basically need around 10MB download and 2MB upload to stay safe.
Most internet provider companies has this as their lowest tier offer.
I've used many cloud gaming services on budget internet provider packages & haven't had any issues.
Go over to speedtest and find out if you have these requirements yourself, you'll be surprised. )

Retro Gaming 100% playing games natively is WAY better than using this streaming service. I know he said the latency is low, but it’s not low enough. He showed games like PUBG. You could never play that games seriously over GeForce now. It’s an extremely competitive Twitch shooter and even adding 20-50ms of latency (which is being generous for this) would kill you. For single player games this is great. But if you are even 90% serious about competitive online shooters this is a no go.

Wondering about this as well, they advertise this for laptops but the latency on a normal wifi network is way too high to not notice the delay.

Ok guys I have geforce now and have stopped using it here’s why: 1. It chews up tons of your WiFi’s bandwidth which you have to pay for if it is overused
2. It’s a scandal, and will soon cost money even if your in beta I believe 25 dollars for 20 hrs
3. It has weird mouse movements and sometimes starts to lag really bad it blurs the graphics and I have a really good WiFi so trust me
4. My parents are friends with a guy in nvidia and the guy recommends not using this, and if anything to create your own pc, as if you pay for geforce now for a full year, it will cost as much as a decent gaming pc
Edit: Like so this can spread awareness to the others who are blind of this issue
