Good question. Mosaic is a subset of slip stitch knitting. In slip stitch knitting the stitches can be slipped with the yarn held in the front or back. In Mosaic knitting it is always held to the back. Also, in Mosaic knitting you only slip the stitches for one row. There are some slip stitch patterns where the slipped stitches are slipped over several rows.
Suzanne, can you tell me where I can find other patterns for mosaic knitting? I love your explanation, as I have been trying for awhile to wrap my head around this. But I am looking for other pattern ideas. thanks!
I am on your facebook page but didn't know if that is where I would go to get this patter, or any type of colorwork knitting pattern you may have. I want to try stranded colorwork knitting next. Thanks so much. .
This is not a particular pattern that is for sale. I used to teach a Mosaic Knitting correspondence course through The Knitting Guild Association (TKGA) and this is a set of video that went with that course. But, I do have lots of other tutorials for sale, you can find them on Ravelry - Just search for Suzanne Bryan.

Knitting with Suzanne Bryan Thank you for a clear explanation.
You are welcome. Happy Knitting.
hello suzanne! how do i transition from garter to mosaic, and from mosaic to garter? (i don't want it to look like a row of stockinette) thanks!
Just continue to knit every row. Mosaic is just garter with color work. You will be fine. Try it on a swatch first.
thank you!! i use your tutorials just about daily ;))@@SuzanneBryan
Thanks, needed a refresher

Thank you for your tutorial (very concise and helpful!) and for this link! :)
Many blessings to you and yours.
Great video. Just one question: You seem to be knitting a first stitch before you start the chart. Correct?
The stitches are all on the chart. I start knitting the chart, no extra stitches. Happy New Year.
Please show the back also!
I have a playlist of Mosaic knitting. I am sure the back is shown in one of them. Thank you and happy knitting.
