    Caitlyn came in and made the worst team a playoff team, and one of the top 4 teams post olympic break. And she didn't do it by just scoring a ton of points. She made everyone around her better. The definition of MVP.

    - Top 10 in scoring
    - Leads the league in assists
    - Leads the league in points scored/assisted
    - Leads all guards in blocks and rebounds
    - First rookie to record a triple dub
    - Fastest player in WNBA history to reach 100 three-pointers in a season
    But Gil says she’s not dominant because she’s not averaging 30?

      Of course he has his reasons....the most important being he wants to recruit black athletes. If he doesn't support their "cause" he won't be able to recruit them. I think that will change though. Clark has and will continue to impact the game. Her teammates have to improve play to keep up with her. They have to go to the basket and be prepared for a pass. You can already see that they have improved their three point shooting and shoot away when the opportunity comes. Other teams will see what's happening and improve their play too. Other players will recognize the difference in play and the tables will turn. Geno will have to revisit his comments. Maybe Clark wasn't so bad after all.

    That she is this dominant as a rookie is ridiculous. Yes, A'ja Wilson is great and probably deserves MVP for the stats. Clearly though, and without a doubt, Caitlin is the MVP for the entirety of the WNBA's existence. The lack of attendance at the US women's Olympic games proved it. But . . . they (mostly) kept it together and realized the greater, more important truth - As this person elevates our league, it elevates ALL of us . . . money, recognition, tv deals etc. Plus, I think men just respect the talent at the end of the day as well. I'm not sure the Wnba women understand ANY of this. Or at least their behavior and talk would seem to indicate that they don't. So petty it's shocking.

      I don't have the number in front of me, but if I had to guess Indiana Fever games garner more viewers in front of TVs, more fans in the seats, and more YT content, then the entirety of the U.S women's Olympic experience. What made the snub even more appalling was the ghastly guard play (Plum was OK). But, as many have adroitly mentioned, it was a blessing in disguise. No human being can play constant competitive basketball, the mind and body need to recover.

      @@bballbreakdown It reminds me of the story from Jackie MacMullen on The Book Of Basketball podcast about how a lot of NBA vets were astoundingly jealous of and hated Michael Jordan for the $$$ he got from endorsements as a rookie, so they constantly trash talked him and ripped him to his face the second he entered the league (with Larry Bird and Dr J being the only two who didn't, with Dr J saying the players would all benefit in the long term thanks to having new leverage; sadly, everyone at the time ignored Julius). It has that same vibe, only replace endorsement money with fan and media attention: they hate she is bringing in huge amounts of people that they never could, and want to tear her down instead of embracing it and helping the league grow. The only question is if they will look as stupid as those who attacked Michael look now.

    One of the biggest differences from early in the season to now is her teammates also know where to go on the court. There were many passes that could have been caught early on that her teammates were almost surprised she could make, you can see them hitting those open spots more now and making the easy catches. Her passing is insane, she finds the open space so much better than just about anyone, and now that her teammates are hitting those spots its opening up so many more basket opportunities as they have been ripping the whole post olympic break.

    They were right at the start of the season when they had a brutal schedule. Kudos to coaching staff for getting Mitchell, Boston and Clark on the same page. They still have brain farts of possessions but that's because they are a young team. Clark in some of the games I've seen did miss some clutch-time open 3s, but she's adjusted very well. In her first year she's probably a top 10 player. Not a Top 5 Player yet. I think Boston is a better player right now. Clark has had a great start to her pro career and only had a few weeks off since the NCAA Tournament. 5 better players than her right now are A'ja, Stewie, Phee, Alyssa Thomas, and then you have to include Sabrina and Kelsey Plum who have to give up some of their scoring because they have dominant players on their same team.
    Geno and Swoops are correct that she's not in the same conversation as A'ja or Stewie yet as being domimant. She's a top 10 player but is not unguardable yet. It'll come 2 or 3 years because she's a smart and talented player.

    • @supune
      @supune Місяць тому

      @@omardiangeloarteaga4875 a great player isn't a dominant player in every case. Like Magic, Isaih, Nash weren't dominant because their usage rate wasn't that high even though they were the main cog for their team's success. They weren't unguardable every game. Even Steph's first MVP year, he wasn't dominant in that while he was one of the most efficient players in history, he took over the game in spurts. They won games. I think dominance is over used. Jordan, Shaq, Wilt, Harden were dominant players because their team success was based on them getting more usage. A'ja Wilson is dominant, Candace Parker in her prime was dominant. Silvia Fowles was dominant from a physical perspective.
      Clark is already a great player but she doesn't dominate yet. She might be there in one or 2 more years at the rate she has adapted. For me for Clark to be dominant, I'd like to see her shoot closer to 40% from 3s, get to the free throw line 3 or 4 more times a game and maybe get 2 and a half steals a game. Right now the only dominant part of her game is playing with pace and the lead passes she throws. She's had one of the greatest rookie seasons ever and we don't need to mindlessly throw adjectives around to over-hype her wonderful accomplishments like UA-cam is twitter. I'm impressed by how she turned the season around for her team. She's doing great.

Swoopes had all ready been caught in her lies on the Gill's podcast and was trying to get the WNBA stirred up to give Caitlin a hard welcome to the WNBA and was requesting Angel and WNBA vets to say the Caitlin and Iowa and Indiana Fever fans are nasty to Swoopes and Angel. NaLyssa would have had a fun season this year if Swoopes had not sucked NaLyssa into all of the hate.Swoopes is so desperate for Gil's Arena to help her talk players to leave Indiana Fever by agreeing with her on this program...
