I once thought like you about the doe population on a given spot until I was paired with a friend of mine on our hunting club that had a junior hunter. That friend let his junior kill the state limit of doe that year on our spot. I was furious that season, but the next season was one of the best seasons for bucks we ever had! A state biologist explained to me that the bucks that were left did not have to compete with all those mature doe for the feed, mineral and all of high dollar supplements we provided during the off season. Just a different perspective.....
Thanks! Can't tell you how much I appreciate you being real. Don't always see it from other shows. I feel, maybe, just maybe, we might be headed back in that direction, as a country. One can hope right? Anyways Doc, appreciate the effort and the input.😊
Good info. I’m frost seeding alfalfa into standing wheat/cereal rye. I happened get some alfalfa seed off one of my coop customers that was written off inventory (few years old). Texas Panhandle. We are extremely wet/cold right now and there are cracks in the ground from freezing/thawing. I’ll probably do it one more time in February & blend it with some lime. Fingers crossed.
You should try to find caramel corn. It has dried molasses sprayed on it. If you can't get it to mix with the roasted Soybeans buy a bag of dried molasses and mix it in with the corn and Soybeans. It doesn't take much. I mix about 24 oz to 50lbs of corn. It really pulls the deer in quickly.
Having a lot of doe on your property is like having a bar make ladies night with free drinks. During the rut, the bucks will be there. I hunted a hunting club once upon a time that one of my spots was covered with lasies. Seen a dozen or more at a time. For 6 weeks I had a parade of bucks coming through every year. Hunted that area for 16 years. Miss that spot.
I mean that’s true but it’s also kinda not true the more doe there are the less the bucks have to move to find those doe in heat. Just another perspective
Do you think that east Tn deer like the same food and attractants? Im medically retired and testing the waters up here but haven't put in the work you have so was just enjoying your video to hopefully help me out.
Doc I've been with Spypoint since they came into trail camera market[sad to say their customer service has tanked drastically]. I have all their cameras from micro LTE, cell-link[this one that connectsti non cellularcamsto enable those to send pictures], microS. Yiu mentioned that you only solar-powered, but you still would need AA or battery pack as power supply (when solar not able to power cameras). I made a DIY battery 12v box and run solar to that, then to camera.. going on 1yr 2mos no issue.
I always thought having an over abundance of doe suppressed buck movements because they don’t have to compete and they will stay in the old smarties will stay in the woods.
If you have limited does... and they are all bred... the number of bucks will be limited. They simply to move to areas "where the does are"... makes a good song.
The deer love our hasta plants. They climb up from the valley and sleep on our lawn. We love them but do not feed them and BTW we live in the city of Toronto.
I’m revisiting this video now as this did work to bring the deer in, I had 7 at once in a frame on camera! However, it also brought in two black bears… anyone know what deer like that bears don’t?
I have been preaching the same thing about does all my life , it's so hard because many think that by shooting does makes your buck's bigger so far from the truth;;;;;;
And you sir are exactly correct,,to all of those who believe this guy is wrong ,,let me tell you this ,,I have had the same property for 35 years,,there is one doe who is 11 years old ,,this year she had triplets,,last year she had twins ,,the year before that she had four babies bucks and raised every one of them ,,,ok I will stop right there but her number of bucks she has gave me now is over twenty. If you would have harvested this doe ten years ago ,,,you would have taken twenty bucks away from my herd,,folks that’s just one little doe ,,she is a small doe ,,why would you want to erase her twenty bucks that she gave us.
@@HowTowithDoc I plant Austrian winter peas every year , the reason I do is because they stay green and growing anywhere above zero Fahrenheit, and the deer here love them ,,,western North Carolina here.
Just long legged rats around here, there's way too many and they eat all the cows hay every night. We live right across the road from over 300 acres of soy beans and there's fuel corn on either side of us, 500 acres on the east side and 250 on the west side and them sobs eat our cow's hay. We have the same cameras by the way, 8 of them and a Logitech uploader and a 8 channel receiver with full time feed in the barn office. Only had one camera go bad in almost 5 years now and it fell off the mount and the seal broke on the lense.

Like we said... there is MORE feed and carrying capacity than any amount of deer can hurt on the property. If there wasn't then yes.
Great that you care for them! Blessings on you and yours!

Doc we always love and enjoy your videos.

Nice place! You're doing a great job. It's not easy.
Excellent video. Very helpful. Thank you!
Cut up Russet Potatoes in chunks. Deer love potatoes 🦌🦌🥔🥔🥔

I guess you had no problems from the hurricane. How did your gutters hold out?
Barely hit us here at the farm. Just some rain.
With all the clover and wildflowers I am sure you will have a bee hive before long.

Nice, but can not do what you are doing (putting out food) due to CWD.
Doc

I agree with the decline in CS. I'm waiting to see what the others come out with this year and hopefully they'll have all-in-one solar systems.

Do you have any rabbits
A few.. not many

Doc...If you hit the lottery would you buy a John Deere Tractor 🚜.....?😅

Do you have hogs?
One was sighted a few miles away but nothing yet.
I hope you never have them. They will distroy your food plots and your current feeders will be knocked down and torn apart
I pour my 50# bags of corn into 5 gallon buskets so i can manage them better
Is your property line fully fenced? And if yes, do you close the gates at both road entrances at night?
No fences. The deer from surrounding areas come here all night long.
CWD is real
Doc, where'd you get your hat? Can you add a link?
That one was walmart $13 usually I get them from Gold Coast Hats.
Provided that other nutritional food sources are available, using deer corn as a supplement is ok. It is not good as a main food source.
Exactly that's why the soybeans are my #1 choice. Just hard to get.
I have been preaching the same thing about does all my life , it's so hard because many think that by shooting does makes your buck's bigger so far from the truth;;;;;;
Where can I get the moonshine gold at
It's on Amazon
Are you sure about those cameras, Amazon has terrible reviews.
Yes, I don't rely on Amazon reviews. There is another YT person that did extensive testing side by side on 6 models. He had the same results.
Food is good…. Does are the best buck attractant.

Spy point eats batterys cost to much justin buying batters
No sound Doc
I am a serious anti deer hunter. I have no idea how a man can feel so masculine for killing an animal that can't defend itself. 🖕
Actually it's not deer season. We are still hunting chickens and cows.
I feel this person is on the wrong channel. Clearly they have no idea about conservation management.
I despise deer.
