We bought a NL 8-11 Sportsman + in June of 2020 and have logged about 25,000 miles with our GMC Sierra 2500 HD crewcab SRW diesel. Upgraded the suspension a bit with King reservoir shocks all around and extreme service Timbrens on the back. Works fantastic. Added 4 x 100 ah Expion 360 lithium batteries, another 190 watts of solar (for 390 watts total) a 2200 watt Samlex inverter/charger + a Victron solar charger. Can run the 11,000 btu AC unit for 6+ hours if needed. Very happy with the set up and we use it about 4-5 months a year out of our base in Fort Myers.
Dear NL, please bring back the 6 10. There is such a market for a smaller size! People love it!
For me these campers have always been the Cadillac of campers. A true all season camper.
If you could in the future, with all truck campers, always state the type of truck able to be used with the demo involved. Can a regular truck with single rear wheels or should this camper be used with a dually. The other thing, when stepping up into the shower always state how tall you are. This gives us a better idea if someone tall like myself, 6'2" will fit into the shower. Thanks for taking the time to show this video. Peace
In another video they started ¾ ton or 1 ton short bed, 6.5 feet
Wow. Lightweight, all season, TWO TANKS, and an OVEN! I think this is the nicest I’ve seen yet.
Although I like the thought of a slide in camper, my wife and I love our 28' fifth wheel since we are at a nice lakefront campground, and we have our 2 grandchildren almost every weekend. One thought on RV stoves.... we always wondered why the manufacturers continue to put the control knobs on the front vs the top? Our youngest granddaughter was always playing with the knobs when she was tall enough to reach them. My wife was always afraid Sawyer would wake up in the middle of the night and turn one on. Just a thought from long time campers, if any manufacturers are seeing these comments.
I love this Northern Lite. It’s nice. Thank you Northern Lite.
With U-shape dinette, generator, dry bath, I just paid 70 grand plus tax for a 2023 , 10.2. I had the same rig bought in MASA AZ for 68, that's set up and everything. however that's a LONG drive from North Ga. They are expensive, and me being cripple, well I might have acted a tad fast. So I might be selling mine very soon. We are NOT new to truck campers but my health is worse than I thought. My rig is only two weeks old as of April 4, 2022, and they are really nice. Me being a big man, I love the 60x80 TRUE queen bed, sleeps great. Anyway, I will be going through my camper soon and posting youtube video's, the pro's and cons. I have a 10.2 Limited. Truck is a 2022 Dodge quad cab, limited. MSRP is 7995 US.
wow. Beautiful. They thought about EVERYTHING.
Love these campers! I have my 👁 on the 9.6..!
Indeed Ken Munoz, I had the same experience yesterday while I was visiting a dealer in NH. Absolutely, top of the list.
Very nicely done. Great product with all the right touches and dimensions. Impressive unit.
This is the nicest one yet
Thank you for presenting her.
@Vivaan Landry fake accounts
Love my 8.11 SE! Best made hard side camper on the market.
Nice unit. Thanks for showing it
Thanks for sharing, looks awesome 👏🏽
this camper van covers all my need
Wow that is amazingly beautiful. I can only imagine I can’t afford it but that’s what I would get for sure. Amazing
it's a wonderful dream for me to be a beginner camper very soon ... :)
Very well made campers 👍👍👍
Yes!! Thank you!
Looks like what I’ve been looking for !
I do really like my Northern Lite 8-11 - it is well built and well thought out. Many of the features are great and it stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer. A word of caution about the ladder - if you use the ladder as configured it will be very difficult to access the roof. Luckily I got the roof rack on mine so there is a place to grab and get onto the roof. It would be very scary to climb on or off the roof without that "grab bar". I really don't understand why Northern Lite doesn't add a roof top mounted grab bar - without it is not safe to access.
I sat in a Northern Lite at the RV Expo in Pomona 2019... it messed me up. Placed it at the top of my list.
Hi - What a beautiful truck camper! Very impressive! 👍👍
Very impressive! It looks like the engineers/designers put a lot of thought into this one. Very well laid out, nice expensive looking materials. Huge refrigerator and REAL queen size bed.
Great video! Thank you.
That camper is at least five star rated in my book ! Looks fantastic! Thanks Northern Lite !
Thank you!!!
Looks very well built! I am thinking this might be my next purchase as we spend a weekend every month across the country at dog trials or teaching workshops. Looks like a great investment.
Very nice well built camper!!
We had a Lance that we bought used. Lots of great adventures, but the quality was lacking and it really didn't hold up over time. I toured a few Northern Lite campers at the dealer in Tacoma. Wow! The fit and finish was exceptional, much like a yacht. They are absolutely a beautiful product and if given the same care that should be given to your truck, will last many, many years. Hoping to see one in our future in 2023.
Great camper one of the things I like a out it which you did not show is the table in the kitchen slides back and forth for those bigger guys gives us more belly room lolol one of the great selling features of this unit
Very good thank you for the video. :)
Beautifully done video! Thank you so much for that thorough tour.
You are very welcome!
Very nice! I would like to see soft close cupboards and drawers.
I am in the process of looking to get a Northern Lite camper, doing lots of research and the way they have this designed is incredible, a 2 piece system, saves on caulking every year or two, And offer a 6 year warranty,,, you cannot beat that, I have checked out used models of these and for what you pay for a second hand Northern Lite, you might aswell get new, the pricing is not that far off, and again,,, you get the warranty, they way they are built is awsome,, they hold their value, and worth every penny,,, I will be ordering mine from the factory,,,
Wow amaizing camping
great-features
Nice camper, and doesn't look as cramped as they can get. Every time I would have a question, he would move right in with the answer. For example, the easy walk through and I thought 'yes, but does it have enough storage to keep it that way?' and he said 'and over here we have more storage'. There ya go! When I was a kid the pass through was the width of the back window so we could get back and forth without a problem. They don't seem to do that anymore. Dad would pop the back window of the truck out and there was a rubber seal that would wrap around the window openings and he would take them out and pull the seal from the camper side (it was kind of rolled up at the depth of the rubber that went between the camper and the truck cab) to stretch out and into the cab and grab the window frame on the inside. I don't remember it being too hot or too cold, but that doesn't mean it wasn't. Now, with the power windows at the rear window, you probably can't do that so quickly. 50+ years later, I am not so sure I could go back and forth that easily. But it would be a nice feature to have (the ability to get behind the wheel without getting out of the truck and camper).
Hi Rebecca, the reason we no longer offer the opening pass through window is that they tend to leak. We looked hard for a solution but never found anything that meets our standards.
I want 😢. I’m very impressed with everything
Can you add additional solar panels for more power.some camper have a plug on the side if portable solar panels
very nice camper
I love it very nice
Love it.
A remarkable well designed truck camper.
Beautiful campers, very well built and Proudly made Canadian (BC) product, which I am for 1000%. I pined over whether to purchase a NL 811 or an Arctic Fox 811, both very high quality and well built 4 season units. Hard to argue, conventional panel and seam built unit vs a clamshell design which is virtually leak free .There are definite gives and takes between them like weight, fluid capacities and square footage. The NL 811 is quite tight in my view with a low overhead clearance under the AC unit of about 5-10" I would say. We are a smaller couple in stature with a 75 lb Golden Retriever who will accompany us on every trip. There is not enough space for her to lay beneath the table. We plan to do some extensive travelling and boondocking off grid through all 4 seasons so allot of camper time for 2-3 weeks at a time on fishing trips, with bad/hot weather etc. I don't think anyone on board would be very happy especially our pooch Poppy being told to move or we having to step over her every time we moved about. With the AF there seems to be mega room comparably (with the slide)and it really opens up the living space and is very accommodating and enjoyable. For 80k+ I think we made the right decision for our purpose and needs. I almost pulled the trigger on the Northern Lite but a few buddies into the camper lifestyle for 25 years convinced me otherwise. If NL had a slide I would be all over it but then again?? They would be breaking the mold and philosophy of the NL concept for many successful years past and in the future.
I want one 🤩
The nicest trunk camper I have seen..Hopefully in the future you will offer a cassette toilet..
I hate a black tank !! I would rather have extra fresh water..
The cassette is easy to manage..It emptys at any toilet, outhouse or chemical toilet! I have extra cassettes with my rigg ..
As others have said: WOW! This is an amazing design, especially so in that it fits in a short bed truck. As the tour started, I kept thinking of things I'd like to see and you had them all, including the solar, (curious about an inverter though I may have missed it). What are tank capacities?
Based on this video, this unit is on my want & seriously considering list.
We are glad you like our campers!!! No we don't include an inverter. hey are an easy aftermarket addition though. The tank capacities are: Fresh- 33 Gal, Grey- 24 Gal, Waste- 12Gal, Hot Water Tank- 6 Gal. Here's a link to the 8-11 Specs: northern-lite.com/8-11ex-le-dry-bath/
Espetacular ehiiimmmm
👏👏👏👏😍👍
I am highly allergic to mold and have had a couple campers and i never been able to spend the night in them because they have all had previous leaks. I am currently saving up to buy a Northern Lite but they are a little difficult to find in my area. I have heard nothing but great things about Northern Lite! Would like to make some awesome winter camping and hunting videos on UA-cam!!
as I was watching, I told myself, "write them about solar panels on top instead of boat rack..." Then I get to the solar panel part. NICE!!! Great minds think a lot. Curious with the radio/dvd player, is that mounting hole fiberglass also and if so, is it possible to get a larger hole put in for a touch panel radio with larger screen?
I need one of these that would fit a Jeep Gladiator pickup!
Very nice...
Very nice
Thank YOU
I was wondering if Northern Lite will make an option a cassette toilet?
So how do you fit 1 1/2 ton camper on a 1/2 ton truck.
Please explain that?
And what truck modifications would be needed?
Thank you.
Nice looking camper!
What type frame behind the jack corner connects ? Is there a aluminum melded interior frame ?
Can a camper window crawl thru to truck cab be large enough to crawl between camper interior and truck cab??
Nice camper.
the ladder hides the backlight. But lovely camper :)
No question about it, Northern Lite is the best built TC you can buy. They thought of everything!
Thank you William!!
Why does no one explain the furnace ? It looks to me like there are vents throughout the unit but never explained.
What's the difference between the limited, special, and sportsman 8 11s?
Very nice camper. How much is this one?
I would be interested in a model for a flat bed truck which will provide more space
Is there any way you can tell us how much that camper cost and and exactly what truck it does fit like 2018 Chevrolet Silverado
I love this camper. Planning for a 5 week solo trip through Alaska in just under 2 years. What is the current lead time on orders? Also, do you foresee the ability to add a Truma Combi? Could you get Endura sized LI batteries x 2
Hi Erik, currently 5- 6 months depending on the dealer. We don't provide batteries, those are through your dealer but we have made the system compatible for lithium. No plans for a Truma at this time. You will love our campers for heading to Alaska!
We love ours
Will this fit a 2023 1/2 gmc sierra 1500?
Not bad. They are getting there with truck campers. A few issues he glossed over, but it is perfect for one person. :)
Can you also notate the dimensions on this camper. And what type of trucks can carry it. Very interested in it. Also, do you have travel trailers.
Will it fit on short bed Tacoma
i want one !
I’ve looked at a lot of truck bed campers over the last year. This tops them all.
Thank you!!
what size truck bed is needed?
Always dreaming to have this one
very very nice
Thank you!
How does this brand compare to Big Foot? Like for four season use? Similar? Can I skip propane completely? It scares me. I'd like to see the dry bath. Love this! My new favorite! 💕❤️
Hi Tricia, Great question! Here's a few points for you to consider:
NL has a 60x80" cab over bed.... BF is 60x74"
NL campers are 8'2" wide.... BF are 7'11" wide
NL has a 6yr warranty.... BF has a 3yr warranty
NL uses 3 way fridges.... BF uses 2 way fridges
NL has jack brackets supported underneath front and rear.... BF only supports underneath on the front.
NL come standard with 200 watt solar.... BF has 0 solar standard
Hope this helps!
What was in the bedroom it looked like ice cream coolers with the metal. Not a very good run through in the bedroom. Does this have carbon monoxide or propane sensors?
Fabulous
Thank you!
Why does every sellers always leave out the price of the unit that they are selling purposely
left out a lot of info, no sticker price showing on the unit why? but its a good tour of the unit .
If you download our brochure you will receive all of our prices. northern-lite.com/request-brochure/
If you have to Ask, it's too expensive. It's only your First born, and your second for 10 years of servitude !
The jacks on the front look like they're in the way of wider tires
Love this walk thru! The ONLY thing I would love is larger window in dinette and above stove !!!
The reason we haven't gone larger, is to reduce heat transfer in cold climates.
@@NorthernLiteTruckCampers Good point. However in a colder climate, an insulated window covering would be appropriate. That would minimize heat loss. A larger dinette window would be great for warmer camping! Give it some thought. Big windows are great.
@@gamedoutgamer The problem with covers is that means you lose a functional window. When it's winter you still want to see out the window. As soon as you put a cover on it, you lose that view and natural lighting inside. One other reason we don't use larger windows is they they are extremely expensive to replace when things go wrong... which they do such as flying rocks, forgetting to close your window, etc.
With that being said though, we are always looking at ways to improve everything... including windows... so your input is appreciated.
@@NorthernLiteTruckCampers Great points! Thank you for responding! You're the expert, I'm not. I'm at a toss-up between a hard shell camper and a lighter pop up. Love your campers they look like quality all around. Haven't been in one yet. Do you think yours would stand up to rougher, bumpier dirt/gravel/mud roads in the mountains? Is the frame aluminum, not wood? Cheers!
@@gamedoutgamer Thanks!! They handle rough terrain extremely well. That's were we spend most of our time with them! Unlike our top heavy competitors, they do not have a frame inside... aluminum or wood. The shell has provides the structural integrity. When you finally get inside one, you will have a tough time buying any other.
What is the MSRP?
Gorgeous unit. Toss up between this and bigfoot.
Thank you!! Here's a few points for you to consider when choosing a NL over a BF:
NL has a 60x80" cab over bed.... BF is 60x74"
NL campers are 8'2" wide.... BF are 7'11" wide
NL has a 6yr warranty.... BF has a 3yr warranty
NL uses 3 way fridges.... BF uses 2 way fridges
NL has jack brackets supported underneath front and rear.... BF only supports underneath on the front.
NL come standard with 200 watt solar.... BF has 0 solar standard
Hope this helps!
Bigfoot definitely has a better floorplan.
I badly want one! I have wanted to full time live in one of these campers for years now. What truck would be best without a bunch of suspension upgrades?
A Ford F350 or Chevy/GMC 3500 will work great for you!
How much do they sell and what size truck
You never spoke about the cabinet/storage on both sides of the bed.
Would have loved to see the available storage, cubbies, windows, etc in the bunk area...
Great suggestion!
How much would this cost in Canadian money if i may ask
Other than a porta generator option, it is a concern whether there is an off grid SOLAR option
Comes standard with 400W solar
How much is this model?
I know that 8-11 is made to fit 6 and a half foot full size truck bed. Can it also fit Chevy 3500HD Dually with 8 foot bed? I need to install a 50 gallon external fuel tank mounted on the front of the bed for range.
Contact titan fuel tanks,,,you,'ll get your bed back.
Not needing a dually is huge. Just wondering how my 6'4 250# frame is going to fit in there.......shower height, etc.
I am 6'3 and 220 and I am fine in there.
Is there a security or anti-theft system in order to avoid getting the camper stolen if disconnected to the truck? Also, is there the option to attach a rear bike rack?
You can buy an after market system. For a bike rack there are several options that plug into your trucks hitch receiver.
What's the weight?
I presume you offer swing out Jack brackets for a dually?
Yes we do.
Thumbs Up.
how much is unit like this will run me?
I have a long bed truck f350 camper optioned truck. What models fit and weights of each ??
Here's a link to our long box campers: northern-lite.com/long-bed-truck-campers/
Great camper, only thing I would change is get rid of that absorption refrigerator and install a vitrifrigo refrigerator, that absorption system is so outdated, take it from a refrigeration tech, would buy this camper in a heartbeat if it had a vitrifrigo .
You can always swap them in aftermarket.
